They sing about doing nearly every illegal thing you can think of. Many have been to jail. Many have been convicted of murder and other crimes they've rapped about. And that's fine. Freedom of speech and I like rap. But why would anyone be surprised that rappers end up getting shot and killed? It's the lifestyle that's killing them.... We're not talking about humble people who mind their business, follow the rules of society, and spend their free time watching Netflix with family. We're talking about people who are self-proclaimed 'bout that life' --aka a lifestyle that is fully charged and will likely kill you or end you up in prison. They sing about doing nearly every illegal thing you can think of. Many have been to jail. Many have been convicted of murder and other crimes they've rapped about.
And that's fine. Freedom of speech and I like rap.
But why would anyone be surprised that rappers end up getting shot and killed? It's the lifestyle that's killing them.... We're not talking about humble people who mind their business, follow the rules of society, and spend their free time watching Netflix with family. We're talking about people who are self-proclaimed 'bout that life' --aka a lifestyle that is fully charged and will likely kill you or end you up in prison.
Takeoff's death is heartbreaking, but I'm afraid it's not going to stop here. Until rappers are singing about respecting your neighbors and learning knowledge from books rather than thugs in the street, it's not going to change.
