Until I saw this I hadn’t heard of this before. My daughter in law does beautiful crocheting so I asked her if she had heard of this. She had of course! I think the colors going back to how it started is going to look quite lovely! Well done.

For anyone wondering the Lion Brand Hearland yarn colors the are (hottest to coldest): Badlands, Redwood, Yosemite, Gateway Arch, Bryce Canyon, Haleakala, Petrified Forest, Carlsbad Caverns, Voyageurs, and North Cascades.

I like your yarn choices. I've seen a lot of these turn out with really bright rainbowy colors, and that's fine if that's what you're going for, but I really like the more earthy look.

Thank you for showing us this! I started making one for my best friend. I’m doing the high temps for the year she was born in Ohio. Much more interesting than the even temps of California where we are now. And for her date of birth I’m running a shiny iridescent gold sewing thread along with the yarn of that day. Only her birthday is Feb 8th so I have to do about 4 rows a day. I’m jamming!

Slipping your yarn skein as is in tight leggings with the yarn coming out of the top hole, it helps to keep the yarn stable and easy to pull from. Just wanted to share.
You can also surface stitch your initials on the blanket when done. Tutorials on surface stitch crochet YT. :)
So clever, your monthly tracker on the computer and your monthly color separator yarn color.

I always loved this idea. What I really want to do is make a temperature blanket for the year/place I was born. I can also imagine how special a gift of a temperature blanket for someone's birth year/birth place would be. Thinking of making my family members them for their birth year/place as gifts, then comparing the different patterns created.❤

My washable rug is 100% cotton and a stupid mouse chewed a hole in it😢. I do love that as a blanket as well but my floor gets painfully cold so i could see this being so diverse in my house! 😍

Instead of a temperature blanket maybe next year do a temperature scarf!!! When you finish the year in January you will have a lovely scarf to wear for the remaining of winter and I am sure it will be a great conversation starter!!! You can even switch off and make a blanket one year and a scarf the next. You can even look up the temps for the year in different areas of the country for gifts for friends/family. I think it would be pretty cool to gift a friend or family member a baby blanket on the babies first birthday that shows all the high temps on each day of the year their first year of life!!!

I’m on the month that my precious fur baby passed and I want to memorialize the day on my blanket. Her birthday is the month after. Should I do a special yarn entwined with the corresponding temperature color, make a different stitch (I’m doing a moss stitch) or use her favorite color (pink) for both dates. Or just use a black yarn. I’m feeling some sadness and anxiety about the upcoming row; I know it sounds dramatic but I miss her. Thank you ❤

Calculate that a row every day of the year is 365 rows; With a size H crochet hook, 4 crochet chain rows equal prox 1 inch; 365 divided by 4 equals prox 92 inches; 92 divided by 12 inches equals prox 7.5 ft . This is how long your blanket will be, which is a nice length for a blanket. (this is not an afghan). Your width should be at least 4.5 feet (54 inches); 4 single crochet stitches equals 1 inch; 54 inches x 4 equals prox 216 chain stitches to start your blanket. Yes, it is a big project!
