About Eclipse defending Earth, Solar was still an Eclipse, so Eclipse has the capacity to be a “Solar”, right? Maybe they’re teasing the idea that Solar can come back but through this or another Eclipse? Or something like that.
The theory behind why Eclipse did that in the house was possibly to collect the remnants of Solar's presence, or energy. He's been going to the places Solar frequented and doing the same thing. Even if he wasn't in Sun's and Moon's house as often, the place he died would have the highest concentration of Solar's remnants. If the theory is right, he is trying to bring Solar back in some form.

Due to some (if not a big majority) of Solar's code being copied to make Eclipse, it is possibe that at some point Solar could be stuck in Eclipse's Mindscape and becomes a constant voice in his head, hence why when Lunar spoke with Eclipse in the atrium, he kept floating to "think." Maybe, just maybe and hopefully, Solar returns, even if he is stuck in a mindscape with Eclipse. The two are more alike than they thought.
