Fascinating forking position! There are forks everywhere but Stockfish ruins it again😭
🐟
@@pikapizza9526 ?
@@vincehomoki1612 fish
how does it ruin it?
Position doesn't change because of Stockfish, it is and always was winning for black, people just didn't notice that
@@alexk6836 ok
8:30 Very beautiful position with all those pieces stacked on the f file. Great forking puzzle!
0:40 As a beginner player (7days in) I was pleased I spotted the knight check. I got even more excited when you showed the knight had to 2 more pieces it could capture!!😱😂. Never thought I’d be into chess, it’s pretty fun.
@@monsieurLDN 🤣just sharing my experience with the video. If this offends you then that’s a you problem.
@@TemporaryJ didn't know it was that difficult lol
@@monsieurLDN well I’m only 7 days into playing the game. Maybe you’ve been playing for a while so this is child’s play to you? I don’t know. I’m just having fun with the journey 🙂.
@@TemporaryJ keep going! It's really fun, and we need more chess players in the World.
@@rozmarinideas5340 I’ll keep playing for sure!😊
These videos are a really nice way of enjoying chess puzzles. Good content.
Wow what a forky puzzle
I'm amazed that no human found that move before. Same feeling comes to me in many of those situations. Some one explains why taking is bad and then after doing another move my instinct is to just ask "what if we take now instead?" but then I can't se the rest if the moves. Feels like good players should be able to 😅
I think composers just stopped after reaching 2 pieces vs 2 pieces cause in most cases thats straight draw and black doesnt have a rightaway counter so they didnt really dig into it
It's not that they overlooked that move. The winning sequence for black was so obscure that they thought it was a draw.
6:55 Why not Nd5??
That white bishop on e6 will be captured, knight vs bishop and rook is lose, bishop will be traded with knight and you can win with just rook
If the king takes your bishop, you can fork black's bishop and king and that would be a draw right???
@@gijsmeulen9966 yeah it is *usually* a draw though black wins if the knight and the king are separated from each other and are poorly placed
@@nglschoolsucks In this case, after white takes the bishop, Rg2 wins on the spot.
6:56 theres another fork Nd5, Kxe6, Nf4+
After Nd5, I'd say Black plays Bc4.
After you take the bishop there's Rg2
ofc but he was speaking about all the possible forks so i added one
I hereby christen this position "The King's Dinner Table", you know why
Guess what! I got a fever! And the only prescription... is MORE FORKS!
This is Forking amaizing
what a mother forking puzzle
I liked that puzzle. Thanks
Hello there Nelson
Member 🤯
i can definitely understand why humans missed the knight trapping idea
it doesnt seem very intuitive and it also requires you to play very precise moves in an exact sequence which is really only something stockfish can do
Guys, please, give a piece of advice, if I have a puzzle to share with ChessVibes, where should I write or send? Thank you.
Nelson!!! Do a video where Martin played stockfish but stockfish plays the 2nd best move every time that would be an amazing video!!!
I think that would be an easy win for stockfish 100/100 times, even if it cant recapture untill there are 2 recaptures, martin is just way too stupid. Human might abuse the weakness, bots cant
Forking great puzzle
Hi Chess Vibes.
Did you get my puzzle mate
I tend to look for catacorner positions from the knight though so I was curious about taking the pawn, although I likely would not have been able to see all the way down both lines.
2:10 - Stockfish even without tablebase estimation: +87.95, black are winning with Kxf3
Komodo estimation: +10.13, black are winning even with Kf2 (well, even capturing this pawn has no benefits for engine at this point). But even then I don't think it is problem for black to win: black just have to much material at this point. I don't understand why the study hunted the horse with king...
Plus? Positive means white is winning.
@@danielyuan9862 When a UCI engine passes a score to the GUI, it's from the point of view of the engine. In other words, if the engine is evaluating a White move and the score is positive, that means White has the advantage; and if the score is negative, Black has the advantage.
Conversely, if the engine is evaluating a Black move (as in the video) and the score is positive, that means Black has the advantage; and if the score is negative, White has the advantage.
What the fork?
Something weird happens in this endgame study so I have an app that has end games and a database where it says it's a win but my low-level stockfish didn't find the win but the database found it LOL
K7/P4k2/8/8/8/8/4R3/1r6 w - - 0 1
Hey nelson, in the last, lost position after Ke4 is there maybe Bd5 check and knight fork?
The don’t have to take the bishop
1:08 And black might not choose to take tke bishop but put white into check with the rook on g1....just saying :) ahh you explained it later, should have watched the full video first ^^
(Question)How to send the puzzle?
0:59 what if king to F2 or F1?
2:35 what if rook to f6,then bishop to d3?
'what if king to F2 or F1?'
Bxe6
'what if rook to f6,then bishop to d3?'
Only the black bishop can get to d3, and you can't make two moves in a row.
If
... Rf6
Bd5 Bd3+
Then, shortly after Kb2 escaping the check, there is an exchange of bishops, and its a rook vs knight endgame, seemingly a draw.
What if instead of using the knight to attack the king in the last position of the "prison", you move it to d8. You then have the knight on the need to run, even if it moves to check the king you have at least saved your pieces for awhile and you could potentially trade the bishops or the rook if it tries to attack you.
I'd like to help, but I have no idea what point in the video you are talking about.
@@thetaomegatheta 8:20
I kinda fcked what I tried to say, but basically you could survive for awhile if you go to d8, with your knight, attacking the rook and protecting the bishop
@@pizzaelpequenajo._.6342 How do you go with your knight to d8? It is definitely not possible to do that in one move at 8:20.
It seems that RUclips is refusing to load one of the replies in this chain for me.
Time when Nelson made videos on lichess 🗿
Oh my!
This puzzle makes me feel like and endgame master as I have gotten all these tricky moves correct. 😊 PS : I did not pause PSS: I did not see Kxf3 😢
1:38 couldn't you capture the bishop with check?
Kf2 means that you are guaranteed to lose either a knight or a bishop next turn.
spork
Is there some explanation of that mate in 549 position found in 7 pieces tables?
I think there are a ton of mate in 500 moves positions, but they dont get computed so deep, also 50 move rule breaks all that
I hope not. That position was found using pure brute force, and I believe part of the beauty in chess is that we don't understand the move sequence of that particular position.
4:33 Rook to b3 check?
Its blunder because king can capture the bishop
@@Globall. it's not a blunder because black is already losing a piece anyway
6:54 what happens if white plays bishop to g4?
Blunder
Bg4 Bxg4
If Nxg4, then Rxg4, and it's a king and a rook vs a king.
@@thetaomegatheta you say that's a blunder like white isn't already losing
@@danielyuan9862 With best play, white achieves a draw.
EDIT: NVM, I got this puzzle mixed up with a different one.
Lovely
Wow ❤️
Too much forks
hope your flooding has been taken care of.
Also why does white always play to win or draw? :( black pieces matter.
