Well, if you actually avoid using the boost in most of the 3D Sonic games (minus Lost World and Forces of course) I'd say Sonic handles smoothly on his own. He gains speed naturally just like Classic Sonic would in the Genesis games. Even his slide move reacts similar to the spin attack move.
The evolution of the game is stunning also amazing prop deformation using a c frame technique also improves the game and the beatiful realistic sound actually make the game better. It's a weird thing to see a car tonne stiles game whit realistic sound but I have to admire the Dec's for trying their nuts out to make something new:A cartoon game whit realistic sounds.I salute them. 👋
This game was never continued, it 100% deserves to be. SEGA SHOULD OF CONTINUED THE GAME AND CLAIMED IT THEIR OWN!!! WHAT ABSOLUTE IDIOTS! They would be 20x richer than they are now! Dang you SEGA
Clam down, they don't really accept this fan game because this game has at least 2 unity assets, the running wind and the explosion in when you kill a robot, not saying this game is bad, it's a really good and maintained fan game, it's just of the unity models on my guess

@Zoe Kin What exactly did they do to mess up Mania's development? From what I've seen they just made it focused on nostalgia instead of being filled with exclusively brand new levels only.

I cannot count how many times I have watched this demo. Everything, the animations, the music, even the level design is perfect. A shame this will never come to fruition as a full game.

1. This is a developer testing map not an actual level
2. The game's dev team grew a year ago and it's still being worked on.
3. There is literally no reason to not develope this game further. He worked as a one man crew and made this dev map, it's easier for him to make the game now that there's more people on his team.

saturn couldnt handle this game,not even the dreamcast could IE draw distance and texture load ins at them speeds.
we only just got the tech to allow for a true sonic game like this due to the need to stream in vast textures and draw distances cause of how fast sonic is...his speed is ultimately what fucked him,the hardware for decades simply wasnt there thus confining him to auto boost corridors and highways

Okay, time to finally debunk this. I have a few points on why Sonic Utopia can't be ported to Mobile devices.
1: Mobile phones aren't powerful enough to run those graphics. And even if it did, the performance will be struck down to a rough 20-25 FPS due to what is happening on-screen. Waterfalls, Rings rotating, Badniks walking and attacking Sonic, Item Boxes, even the grass will slow the game down to 20-25 FPS. And that is if you have a phone with Qualcomm SnapDragon. And it varies too. Even if it runs at least at 30 FPS, It will drain your battery very fast due to the graphics being very intense for the phone to handle.
2: Controls. Touchscreen controls are never fun. There are exceptions but since Sonic Utopia has more than one button, it will be very awkward to press multiple buttons. A controller is a solution but it's hit or miss on the compatibility of the controller and the game.
3: Size. Imagine in an alternative universe where we have the full release of Sonic Utopia. If there were 3 Open World Acts for each zone (There are 6-7 zones in Sonic 1 if I remember correctly.) The game will probably weigh around 10 GB due to the abysmal content included in the game. That's not including Mods, Super Sonic Model (or even Hyper Sonic) Tails, Knuckles, Amy (probably) and Metal. All with different abilities. So the game might weigh an additional 2 GB because the developers for this game will add new and improved abilities (Kind of like Sonic Megamix.) and what they have done right now on PC is impossible for it to be replicated in mobile devices.
phone's arent powerful enough too run sonic utopia mainly cause of the graphics and it isnt a mobile port only pc port and xbox port(ik im 3 years late)
