    Thank you Udo. I just came up on your channel and I am mystified. I am just starting out as a furniture builder. I am 63 years old and my daughter has tasked me with building outdoor furniture for the brewery that she and her boyfriend are starting here in Maine, USA. I look forward to following you as you continue producing beautiful furniture.

      Then we are exactly the same age, and I also made outdoor furniture for my daughter. Look then. The difference is, that you start making furniture, I probably start to finish.

    You are a true craftsman. I love the way you make things. I am pretty new at making rustic things. But find great pleasure in it . I love the way it seems to have its own mind and kind of tells me what it wants to be...

      I would add that this work has also been quite a pain. I have searched for many solutions to the problems and some of the searches have been quite arduous. Because it has also been my source of livelihood, I have been in a lot of trouble so many times. Hence the balance. There has been both pleasure and pain, but the pleasure side has always dominated. I find it must be so.
      But now things are different for me, it's not my livelihood anymore, I'm retired now. There is less work, but more things to do.
      Thanks for all your comments. It's nice to know that someone cares about the things you do.
      I completely agree with you that this work has its own mind and it says what it wants to be. Nice to do and also teaches to listen and see.

    I have watched all of your videos and have learned many new tricks. The glue you use looks like what we call polyurethane in the U.S. I use it too. The machine that levels the legs is very effective. No need to apologize for your English, it is very good.

    • @udoaas2466
      @udoaas2466 3 года назад

      Thank you and for your support. Yes really the glue is a polyurethane glue. Expands on hardening and fills gaps in the joint. In the early years of my carpentry, there were no such glues, and one of my first benches rotted away from the joints in this way. Water accumulated in the joint gaps.

    Hallo Udo,i admire your work, you do beautiful things. A real artist. I'm interested in what kind of wood you use, You mention white collar, but I can't find a tree with that name. Please explain.

    • @udoaas2466
      @udoaas2466 2 года назад +1

      Hi Vito.
      Yes, it seemed to me that my pronunciation was not quite accurate. I was referring to white alder. I also use a little black alder, which is much harder wood, but basically white alder. As I said, softwood pins sit better together and are more durable.

      @@udoaas2466 Thanks Udo, i find it, white alder = ALNUS RHOMBIFOLIA or "bela jelša" in my language. In our country it grows in partly swampy lowland areas. Commonly used fo firewood.
