the lesson is very good but it not about using the wrist. it is about NOT-using the wrist. the wrist is the joint between the hand and the forearm. many coaches talk about wrist but they do not mean wrist. they mean pronation on the forehand side and supination on the backhand side, which i will together refer to here as 'forearm rotation.' using forearm rotation for precise and explosive power requires the wrist to be extended, or 'pulled' or 'cocked' or held backwards, however you want to say it, and this is the only thing you ever need to do with your wrist. as the coach points out, if your elbow is not stable you cannot use rotational power, which is why he teaches to keep the elbow close to the body in certain shots. the role of wrist flexion (bending the wrist forward) is very small in this lesson and in badminton. it is used to adjust the racket face angle slightly and it relaxes the forearm muscles in the follow through of the stroke. but it is not required. what is required is the wrist in full extension (pulled), and i have seen advanced players who play entire matches using only extension (wrist pulled) and zero flexion in all strokes including smash and net play. it is not the way i do it, but it is quite possible to play that way. i tell players: your wrist is never used in badminton and plays no role in delivering power to any shot. stop moving your wrist, stop thinking about your wrist, freeze your wrist in an extended ('pulled') position. then i grab their elbow with one hand and their hand with my other hand and gently rotate it back and forth demonstrating the motion of supination and pronation. the reaction is always the same: what is that? exactly, you are not conscious of forearm rotation so you believe you are using your wrist, and once you believe it is your wrist, you begin trying to generate power from your wrist when your wrist has no power. there is no such thing as a strong wrist-- every wrist is weak and slow. so i tell them, forearm rotation is the only movement of your arm that generates power. all other power comes from your legs, and none comes from your wrist. if you break your wrist accidentally and it is held in a plaster cast in full extension, your badminton will improve. so i dont talk about using the wrist, but the action is exactly as the coach demonstrates, and if you watch this coach carefully in this and other videos you will see many perfect examples of powerful and very precise use of forearm rotation. you will see very little movement of his wrist, and that little movement contributes almost nothing to the action

@@AnkurVashishtha01 what is the "preparation grip"? forehand grip or bevel grip?
This is excellent coaching. Most understand, but not many coaches can break down and explain techniques like him.
I really like his explanations and your translation, thank you very much! Very intersting concept, a bit different than what most coaches say!
Thanks for the English translation !
