Hey Mike did you know that there’s a short animation video made by the same studio that made that Legend a Dragon Ball tale a few years back. This ones called “No.1 Akira”. It’s a tribute video for Akira Toriyama.
Yorishige was a really god. He was called Suwa Myoujin as known as 現人神(arahitogami). In Manga, there is an annotation about "arahitogami". Arahitogami is the god that living as a human. They are both god and human. And Manga said "In this era, there were three arahitogami. First, Emperor in Kyoto. Second, Head priest of Shimane Taisha Shrine in Shimane prefecture. Third, Head priest of Suwa Taisha Shrine in Suwa(Nagano prefecture)." Yorishige was a Head priest of Suwa Taisha Shrine so he was worshipped as a really god. To be completely honest, he was actually a god in name only, but in this work the author has made him a character with real god powers.
Because Yorishige's territory of Shinshu was far from the sea, insects were eaten as a valuable protein. (In fact, they were usually stewed in soy sauce and sugar, not eaten raw.) And the three women are not geisha, but priestesses.
The art style is so good. I liked episode 3 because there were so many beautiful scenes. The way it transitions from one scene to another is awesome and so creative. 😆😆
The integration of the historical events which actually took place with some fantasy and comedy is amazing. Suwa shrine and Tokiyuki’s tomb (shown in the beginning of the ending) still exist in Nagano prefecture of Japan.
The crystal that killed that monster boar is obsidian. Suwa in Nagano Prefecture, where they returned, is known for its 13k years old relics. This ore really deserves to be called the blade of God, because it is far sharper than how sharp modern technology can make any other materials.
Domain was the name of provinces in japan such as satsuma domain nagasaki domain Aizu domain etc they changed it into prefectures in 1871 during the Meiji era
Yorishige is: - goofy - shiny - teaches his students through practise - can see into the future (six eyes) - can stop rain (limitless) - is a god - voice by Yuichi Nakamura Dude's definitely Gojo when he went on one of his side advantures into another universe
Honestly, even Japanese people cannot understand Japanese Shinto. There are 8 million gods in Japan. It is believed that gods reside in rice and other foods. That's why Japanese people really hate leaving food behind. Because it shouldn't be made too shabby. Suwa, which I came across this time, is a kind of sacred place. Rooted in the community and respected by residents
Mochizuki Ayako is voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro who also voices who also voices Nijika (Bocchi the Rock), Kurena (86), Kei (Love is War), Villhaze (The Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire Princess), Ami (The Cafe Terrace & its Goddesses), Touka (Fairy Tail), Romantica (A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special), Pilse / Lady Black (SHY), Rhea Fighter (Goblin Slayer), Akira (Hi Score Girl), Dodonko (KonoSuba), Uruka (We Never Learn: Bokuben), Carla (Trapped in a Dating Sim …), Annie (Undead Girl Murder Farce), Luan (Danmachi), Rina (The Unwanted Undead Adventurer), Hana (Miss Nagatoro), Wise (Do You Love Your Mom & Her 2-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?), Lurie (The Strongest Sage with the Weakest Crest), Renee (The Witch from Mercury), Illy (Monster Girl Doctor), Aiko (My Tiny Senpai), Rumi (Kyūketsuki Sugu Shinu), Christina (Seirei Gensouki), Himaka (The Misfit of Demon King Academy), Reina (Ningen Fushin), Shovel & Chalk (Dr.Stone), Feris (Drug Storm in Another World), & many more
thank you as always. I respect the fact that you are trying so hard to understand Japanese history and are moved by the depictions in anime. Lately, even in Japan, there has been a lot of fabrication of incorrect historical views, and I'm tired of it, but I love it because people don't impose their values on each other. I wonder if foreigners would be surprised to learn that there is a culture of eating insects from this era to the present day.
It is a historical fact that the head of the Suwa clan was believed to be a living god like the emperor of Japan. Moreover, mythology tells us that they and their god are older than the Japanese imperial family. This historical fact is not trivia but one of the important backgrounds to this anime. Because Ashikaga betrayed the Hojo along with the Emperor.
Nezu Kojirou is voiced by Mari Hino who also voices Shushu (Chained Soldier), Nao & others (Shirobako), Inukai (Flying Witch), Ekishaman (Adachi & Shimamura), Alvida (Fena: Pirate Princess), Blossom (Chilln’ in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers), Glenda (Slime), Lynette (Reign of the 7 Spellblades), Thoma & Dominic (The Promise Neverland), Cain (KamiKatsu), Okpa (Interspecies Reviewers), Zasha & Kamil (Ascendance of a Bookworm), Sister (Cautious Hero), Wind Spirit (She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man), & many more
4:01 I know right. Speaking of, have you seen Fairy Tail Michael? This va voiced so many iconic characters this year. It might actually be his year. 6:27 Bear in mind the fact that he keeps getting caught by 2 people is proof enough that Tokiyuki needs training & he needs it now. 7:18 His apprentice is calm, collected & less chaotic like Katara is also proof enough. Or is she more like Toph? I haven't seen Avatar in almost a year. Reminds me of Rem from Re:Zero as well. 11:51 Ayako's hair???
I thought Ayako looks like 12-13 years old, like the big sis of the team. And she's kinda treat him like a little brother. So surprise to know she is his age too.
Yeahh, I don't think it was mentioned much in the anime but in the manga, they always made it clear that Ayako was the same age as the others, she just happened to be a physically big girl. Other characters also take note of it actually, like a disgusting pig thought she was already in her teens but when he learned she was just 9, he tsked because he was thinking of asking her to be one of his wives. Fun fact: we can meet Ayako's dad in the manga!
Explanation: The 1300s to 1600s was a time of fierce warring states and power struggles over the hegemony of the samurai and the emperor in Japan and diplomatic relations with the Chinese imperial family, the Philippines, Spain, and the Korean dynasty, The average life expectancy of Japanese people is 25 years. Women in this era did not have 100% human rights, so everything was decided by the policy of the male head of the household. If you complained, you would be beheaded on the spot, no questions asked. By the way, regardless of gender, it was a time when the age of adulthood was 12, and women were sent off to their as early as 3 years old to marry a partner chosen by their parents. Thanks to Minamoto no Yoritomo, the Hojo family was a high-ranking samurai family that was given the duties of the Prime Minister of Japan in Kamakura, Kanagawa for generations from what is now the Imperial Family. If children of this class of samurai did not study languages, martial arts, history, the Analects of Confucius, Confucianism, Sun Tzu's Art of War, etiquette, Neo-Confucianism, abacus, etc. thoroughly from the age of about two, not only would their value as samurai be greatly diminished, but the family's status, the reputation of their parents, and the loyalty of their vassals would also be greatly diminished, and their path to success would be cut off. In the worst case scenario, they would be assassinated by their vassals.
i think for most english speaking youtuber you are the only one that read most of japanese names correctly or at least not bad for the first time(this is how i know someone watched a lot of anime before), but you got some pretty bad reading chinese name as i watch ur blades of guardians lol,

I loved how Tokiyuki and the retainers build trust and teamwork. I can’t wait to see the next episode!!

An episode to develop the characters and themes going forward. Always nice. Not the most dramatic, but it's laying solid foundation.

This might be anime of the season, and that's a hard feat given how many bangers are airing right now😂😂
I'm actually surprised not too many people are talking about it together with Wistoria Wand and Sword they are both so good😂😂

Those three women are not prostitutes, and "geisha" is a culture about 300 years after the story.
They are like nuns of Shinto called "miko."
