Note the way the vandals "callously" threw the sundial into the pond. As if, having wrecked the garden, they were going to throw the sundial *respectfully* into the pond!
Poor fish. I think the programme did a good job in showing children that although bad things happen, they can often be put right. Thats why they showed people repairing the garden. 🌿🍄
as a kid i once turned off a tap that a naughty kid had purposely left running in the grounds of the studios where they made pebble mill at one on bbc - he ran off laughing and so i ran up to it and turned it off - i was disappointed that my good deed wasn't somehow mentioned on the next show - so it was a different world in many respects back then.
Back then, stories of such vandalism were less widespread, largely due to the lack of media usage by the "average Peter". I can recall hearing of similar cases, as well as being of a party responsible, on occasions likely totalling in the region of 100, during the years leading up to my teens. Nowadays, such behaviour would be plastered all over FB and we'd hear of it much more. Thankfully, we don't so much because these crimes have reduced in occurrence. That said, others have shot through the roof.
Oh Gene Hunt.....
At least they got him
"It's only a bloody garden! Turn it off!"Remember this on Ashes to Ashes....classic Gene Hunt moment from Series 3! (2010)
Lol yes I saw it..
Gene Hunt being the vandal in question and it was just because he was beating the crap out of someone. It's only a bloody garden. Turn it off.
I can’t believe Gene Hunt would do this

It’s not a proper wrecking job if you don’t throw the sundial into the pond though.

“Childhood being raped and the blue Peter garden being ended in a terrible sort of orgy of destruction”
Errrm not quite how I’d put it mate.
At least the BBC found out the real culprits later
Joey Deacon and Ernie
jimmy saville told them to do it
People say “but think of the poor children!” I say “think of poor Mr Taylor of Barnet”
Thing is back then it wasn't the done thing now sadly it's the norm.

We should have listened to Enoch Powell
@@sharonrigs7999 When Powell said vote Labour in 1974? We did.
The modern day version of vandalising the Blue Peter garden is saying something bad about Greta Thunberg on social media.
We know who did it....gene hunt
