Alright just to clear this up. The blue Defender 90 is the second NAS 90 prototype ever brought into the country, it wasn't converted to LHD, it was built that way since it is American spec. It has a 4.6 Rover V8 with an auto trans, 4.10 gears, and and air lockers. The white 110 is a Cummins R2.8 crate engine, with a GM 6L80 transmission and 5:1 low range transfer case gears. 4.10 gears and air lockers as well. The green satellite dish carrier 110 is a 300tdi with a 5 speed manual and an Ashcroft add-on underdrive. Also has air lockers.
stan ludorf Damn mate, you came in like a bat outa hell 👍🏾. I’d like to know know your opinion on the Rover v8 against the new Cummins 2.8 crate. I was thinking about doing a swap in an Auto D90 for long hauls.
The white 110 looks fabulous. Do you have any information on the tyre size and lift this truck had please? Looks like Predator alloys which are a 8x17" alloys with +20mm offset.
The only thing they need to change is the axles, here in the UK we fit Nissan patrol Axles to defenders. The got the best trans though from Ashcroft. That 4bt Cummins is a good engine swap too, very few 4bt’s in the UK so not a popular mod.
stan ludorf Correct, and it’s still possible to break Ashcroft items. Nissan axles are bigger, stronger and wider, also come with lockers. Cheaper in the long run. For the standard axle cases Ashcroft are the best available along with KAM.
Honda Mudda we don't have Nissan Patrols over here. Dana 60s would be the swap of choice, but usually aren't needed unless you've got a lot of power and a heavy foot.
LR Defender, what a terrible vehicle. I drove one for a year around Afghanistan. It's like an enclosed farm tractor. Great vehicle if you like your left shoulder/arm constantly in contact with the door/side window like it was designed for a midget.
Hey osta I know you didn't put this on the top ten ideas but love to see it . I'd love to see a tug of war (tournament style ) and see who comes out on top I feel like the sheep is going to and if it does, take as many atvs as you need to pull it I'm going with 3 atvs
PLEASE OSTACRUISER PLEASE READ!!!! not sure if have have answered this question before. Have you, would you or could you build a street legal 4x4 rig like a Suzuki samaruri cause with your sponsors and experience and eye for building off-road rigs could be a awesome rig. If it was me I'd start with a Suzuki samaruri change motor to like a hyabusa 1350rr motor with either turbo or super charger which would put out around 300+hp then I'd do a full independent suspension from a sxs with portal lifts and probably either 34-40in black mambas, outlaw, terminators or Superior traction tires. This way you would have the ultimate off-road rig that's street legal with doors roof ac/heat. Please tell me what you think and if anyone else has a better idea of better type of vehicle idea please post it and let me know what you think.
Wtf? You need spotters ? Get rid of those stupid big tyres and go to 235 85 16 , it will bring back stability and with someone that can drive will just walk most things with ease
They rotated something like 100 people through the Jeeps and Land Rovers over 8 weeks. Most with little to no offroad experience. It was an awesome experience and maybe the best part is no one came in with a fat head know it all attitude ;)
ostacruiser fair enough, the way it seemed was that it was there own wagon, fair enough for the spotters , I still stand by my comments on the tyres , 2 in lift is all you need while keeping stability, shortys dont need much of a excuse to lay down for a sleep this is from experience along with loaded roof racks on short or long it makes them to unstable, that goes for any vehicle keep the weight down low along with the range and revs you would be surprised what they can just walk through
Forgot to mention i have a D1 300tdi auto no lockers 2in lift on 31in tyres I regularly do some of the hardest tracks in Far North Queensland Australia solo plus i am on crutches so picking the right line is even more important, no fun pulling a winch cable when on crutches lol , glad everyone had fun that is rule no 2 no 1 is look after your wagon because it might get you there more importantly it has to get you home
maverick racing Canada so people only do it because they are lazy? Around here. Wisconsin, there's alot of Chevy pulling trucks with the Cummins. Heck some are 16s and 17s.
Load those Rigs with some GEAR . About 400 lbs of food, drink, parts, cloths, and cooking stuff and lets see if they can go over the tough stuff. I have a 69 ford bronco and have been over the Rubicon NO LESS then 20 times from 1990 thru 2017 and have had a great time and have helped many people driveing Jeep,FJ-40s Broncos and Rock buggies. you need a welder, Shower to keep clean, and food, drink AND Spare parts, axles, u-joints, spare tire, gas, oil. I Have all of this stuff when I go on ANY TRAIL FROM RUBICON / TAMRACK LAKE / MOAB / 7 LAKES / and 7 FALLS / APPLE VALLEY. I see none of this on this video. IT IS A WASTE OF TIME WATCHING THIS, NOT REAL.
Tim Coenen this is real....the gear and spare parts are all back at camp at spider lake. These Defenders drove the trail every day for 3 straight weeks!
All the Jeeps and Defenders were loaded with mostly brand new to wheeling people. 16 Jeeps and 3 Land rover tackled those trails for weeks without one major mishap. Sounds like you have great offroad experience but some rage issues lol
Your renegade has more power than that 4bt cruiser.Importing rigs for there axles. Rather watch xxxmotorsport with tractor tires. Brinks slough all the way!!!!
stan ludorf WRONG, you can buy a marine 4bt with 250hp and 490ft/lb of torque. A larger water cooled turbo and p pump!!! That’s a serious package. R28 160hp again I shall say it, your renegade has more power. I just wasn’t paying close attention the newer video with that strung out renegade that that literally gave me an adrenaline rush watching that vid

Over the 3.9 buick special V8? I have HS 2.8 TGV in my 90. I love it for low rev wheeling and 4 wheel burn outs on the slick rock.
god bless the patrol axles! love from down unda!
Hey bud im after a camel trophey brush bar similar to what the blue defender is wearing
Land Rovers defenders really are a perfect shape for this. Narrow boxes with little overhangs to get caught up anywhere.
This is AWESOME, wish I was out there with boys 😎
Thanks for taking the time and sharing 👍
Nice to see some Uk cars on Usa rocks. Not so common. Thanks for sharing :)
It's a Cummins in a LR body. The LR is probably made under licence in some sweatshop where labour is cheap and taxes avoidable.
Looks like a blast Osta!! Great day...great peeps...great trail!
#nojeepswereharmed
The Rubicon and Lake Tahoe area is always great time.
That's awesome! Lake Tahoe has some great trails.
9:08 Jeep drivers be like, to hell with the spotter i need to get my instagram pics!
Is it just me or does the talking on the vid sound weird
Marshall Eloph sounds weird
Yes sorry. The mic on my Cam was definitely acting weird
looks like it was recorded on a shitty iphone
Thought he was whispering like it was a secret
It's not the first time we've heard wonky audio from that cam Osta -- may be time to replace it!
Vermont plate on that Cummings. They are known associates. Very cool representing Green mountains.
I love seeing the VT plate in the wild. Subaru Rally Team has them too.
The white 110 looks fabulous. Do you have any information on the tyre size and lift this truck had please? Looks like Predator alloys which are a 8x17" alloys with +20mm offset.
You were there with Dimalition ranch
Demolition Ranch
Cameron Diesfeld this is the Demolition Ranch demographic...illiterate
"Where's the mud" lol Yup you're outta your element in all those rocks. But it's a excellent learning experience being in those huge rocks
Hey with the blue defender . Where do you get the camel style brush bar
The only thing they need to change is the axles, here in the UK we fit Nissan patrol Axles to defenders.

Honda Mudda I think that’s a new 2.8 Cummins. They’re selling them as crate motor here in the States.
David Moore Oh nice, we have the 6bt here in the UK, great engine but to big for the size of our 4x4’s. I’ll google search those 2.8’s.
These all have Ashcroft axle shafts and CV joints. The only stock Rover part is the axle housing!
stan ludorf Correct, and it’s still possible to break Ashcroft items. Nissan axles are bigger, stronger and wider, also come with lockers. Cheaper in the long run.

The blue defender kind a reminds me of the ford bronco!
Awesome vid bro @ostacruiser you Chould hang out with demo/off the ranch
Nice way to change it up
Can this be done with a stock 4 Runner?
Hope the owner will join the Cummins Land Rover Group on facebook
where are the Sherpas? waiting for a video about the Sherpas)))
Love the vids
Why put a Cummins in when the came factoy with 4bd1t isuzu 3.9litre in Australia at least.
Because they are in the us and not australia.....
Cummins is better reliable engine
I have one of these in the uk
That thing is sweeeeet
LR Defender, what a terrible vehicle. I drove one for a year around Afghanistan. It's like an enclosed farm tractor. Great vehicle if you like your left shoulder/arm constantly in contact with the door/side window like it was designed for a midget.

You need a snickers?
more like a baby ruth in the pool there Carl Spackler
👍👍👊👊📹📹
defender 90 are way better than jeeps and have v8 most the time.
M K Agreed
Not really. In europe it's allmost garantee to get a 200tdi 300tdi or an td5
The audio is not good people sound like robots see if u can fix that issue for the next one

Nobody ever does a powerstroke swap or duramax. How come?
They are still being used to get work done. Easy to swap a Cummins when the Dodge falls apart around it.
retsaoter likely story. Lol
Cummins swap is 80% less work then any other newer diesel
maverick racing Canada so people only do it because they are lazy? Around here. Wisconsin, there's alot of Chevy pulling trucks with the Cummins. Heck some are 16s and 17s.
No way to fit a powerstroke or duramax into a Defender. Even if you did, cooling it would be a nightmare. 4 cyl cummins is the way to go.
Gonna buy a Jeep again? Lol
Too slow to clean for ostacruisers!
