Thats a lie. Tariq got the original concept of the word "tether" from the movie "us" Tariq Nasheed insinuated that Black immigrants are "THE TETHERED" like in the movie! replacing Black Americans because they look like us! He only cleaned up the term to avoid the ire of the Nation Of Islam as Farrakhan is of Caribbean descent and Malcolm X's mother was a Grenadian. FBA is nothing more than an anti-black hate group/grift created in 2018. Stolen from ADOS By William O Neal Grifter -designated Tariq Nasheed! This FBA grift only benefits Tariq financially, while his flock is rewarded with empty symbolisms, duck tales, and mediocre high school entertainment! Tariq uses the Lyndon B Johnson technique to finesse money from his indoctrinated flock, resulting in the extreme xenophobic insults, videos and memes that parallel the racism that white supremacist trolls use against all Black people on social media. To the point that even racist trolls have jumped on the bandwagon, creating fake Black accounts, pretending to be FBA, and fanning the flames of division!. Tariq is the founder and leader of FBA (but says he is not the leader to absolve himself of any liability, should one of his flock do anything extreme in his name) Made an entire studio album denigrating Black immigrants. Bottomline FBA is an indoctrinated hate cult that ferociously defends Tariq's grifts, countless, contradictions, and despicable xenophobic division no matter what. Just the other day they came after Sadat X, calling him a tether for refusing to get involved in the Fat Joe Vs FBA conflict. Bottomline? With all due respect, I'm from Bed-Stuy like Talib and he needs to do his research instead of jumping on the FBA hate train. I have 2 degrees and am of FBA lineage. This is where the cultural differences come in to play. We know ever since the U.S. Census black people have been classified as negro, mulatto, colored, black, then in the 80s Jessie Jackson and the Democratic Party coined us African American. Although all of us were not in agreement we never villainized the term. We have now gone through another classification this time of our own doing because it specifically identifies our lineage of black people who have been in the United States pre-civil war which are Foundational Black American or FBA. Just because there are some black people who maybe xenophobic does not give him the right to paint an entire lineage with a broad brush. We could easily say identifying yourself with your native country is hateful, but for the most part we've always been inclusive.

Eloquently said. Peace to you. I don't think there's an issue with FBAs, in general; everyone has the right and should be proud of their ancestors/lineage. It's the misguided, elitist position that many FBAs online are projecting that's striking a cord with Hip hop/non-FBAs. Before the commercialization and exploitation of hip hop, the great majority of FBAs nationally had no clue what hip hop was. Meanwhile, it was the most important thing in the world to a specific population of younger Puerto Ricans, Caribbeans, FBAs, etc... from particular environments in the northeast. It represented a certain energy WE had; our beliefs, our ethics (no biting), our ways of living. Endless hours of practicing/mastering our crafts, brushing our sneakers/fat laces, while living our lives to a soundtrack was a unique experience that only WE understood. We didn't care what your background was, the main concern was if you were dope/fresh or not. This creation conversation seems misguided. It wasn't birthed (born on a particular day), it was more of a process/evolution. The fact that hip hop's earliest documentations (Joe Conti, Wild Style, Beat street, Fat Boy's Disorderlies, etc..) all starred Puerto Ricans, Caribbeans, FBAs, etc..., AND it wasn't controversial, speaks volumes. May WE find proper guidance, unify our votes and financial powers, and make our ancestors proud. Peace!

I'm no fan of Kweli on Social media but regarding FBA his 95% right. Apart from the definition of the word "tether" It means any Black immigrant that "fled their homeland" to use their words, to go to another country, specifically the US. They use the term anchor baby on those that were born in the US but are of immigrant descent! Bottomline? Tariq Nasheed and FBA are the modern-day cointelpro, tasked to instigate division in the Black community. Talib Kweli got his facts wrong. FBA is not about anti immigration, its just a lineage. Keep in mind Kweli had beef with Tariq in the past, so his opinion is based on his feelings and not from a logical standpoint. Also, Kweli is not FBA, he is a not a descendant of continental U.S. slavery. He's from the Virgin Islands and he identifies more with immigrants, and not with us.. On that note, Kweli better get used to it, because FBA is growing by the day and it aint stopping no time soon....and shoutout to Sadat X. Although he got into a lil verbal scuffle online, he is still part F.B.A., I got nothing but love for the big homie.

FBA is a refined word to an original concept that was originally coined by Dr. Claude Anderson. The original term I believe was Native Black American referring to the aboriginal black people that were already here thousands of years ago long before the founding of the country and before West African slaves were brought here. It was modified to Foundational Black Americans because it incorporates the ethnogenesis of aboriginal people plus the West African slaves that over time mixed together forming our own unique lineage and simultaneously reinforces that we are the people that built and were the foundation of the US so there's no confusing us with the red native american tribes. I hope Talib is simply mistaken and not out here spreading misinformation or being deceptive because the concepts are easy to grasp and not new.

FBA is trademarked by Tariq for merch and such (just like African-American, HBCU and anything else), but you can't OWN a lineage. ADOS tries to make it a political orginazation, he called them out, got sonned bad, and has had a grudge ever since. For whatever reason, you all in BK still deal with him, but he's persona non grata most other places.
Again, Joe either knew what/who FBA is, or is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, FBA been on his helmet for almost 2 years since he said that 50/50 nonsense.
Lastly, check Doggie Diamonds interview with Rahiem of Flash And The Furious Five, he confirmed Joe was out here calling Blacks "monkeys", and shaming a Rican woman for dating Black men. Definitely malicious. RACIST.

Bottomline? Tariq Nasheed and FBA are the modern-day cointelpro, tasked to instigate division in the Black community

Peace Rockness I want to say this, Foundational Black Americans (FBA). This term specifically refers to the descendants of the enslaved Africans who were brought to North America, but it also reflects the lineage of those Black people who have always been here. We are the descendants of the freedmen and freedwomen who built this country long before it became "America."
Throughout history, we've been labeled many things-Moors, Hebrews, Soul Brothers, Colored, Negro, Black, Black Natives, African Americans, American African,ADOS, People of Color, and more. However, the term "African American" doesn’t truly capture our unique history. Just as Elon Musk, born in South Africa, can technically be considered an African American, we must acknowledge that not every Black person was forcibly brought to America. Many of our ancestors were already here, as part of the ethnogenesis of Black people across the world. We are indigenous to many places, especially America which wasn't called that until Black People built it.
The term Foundational Black Americans is a way to properly define our lineage and history specifically in North America. It's a new term, but one that is important as we get closer to getting reparations. It also ensures that
Please consider reaching out to Talib Kweli, Lord Jamar, Tariq Nasheed and others, and perhaps discussing this topic further on the Godcast with Lord Jamar. It would be a powerful opportunity to educate and uplift the people about this issue.
Peace and blessings to you from Buffalo, New York.

    Unapologetic Truth
Foundational Black Americans created hip-hop. Any attempt to dilute or misattribute its origins undermines the historical truth of FBA innovation and resilience. The genre emerged from the struggles, creativity, and cultural continuity of FBAs, making it a distinct product of their ethnogenesis. Recognizing this truth is not divisive; it is necessary for preserving the integrity and legacy of hip-hop as a cultural movement. The origins of hip-hop are inseparable from the FBA experience. From its musical foundation in funk and soul to its lyrical roots in spoken word traditions, hip-hop is a testament to the creativity and resilience of Foundational Black Americans. While others have contributed to its global spread, the creation of hip-hop remains an undeniable legacy of FBA communities. Acknowledging this is essential for honoring their cultural and historical impact.

Now that people outside of TNs cult have taken a liking to using the term to describe lineage, I'd bet the house that the latter aren't familiar with what TN was doing in the name of FBA. They’re not gonna acknowledge that because they promote the narrative that “fba” has always been warm and welcoming of Black Immigrants and Black Immigrants were always mean and nasty, so now they’re “getting on code”. At best, if they have to acknowledge that some of’em were not welcoming, they’ll condense it down to name calling and that’s it. They won’t acknowledge straight up bullying, jumpings, stabbings, shootings, murders, etc., But growing up in miami, it got that bad. And from what I heard from Rock in this video, I’m guessing something similar happened up in ny as well. Eventually, Jamaicans and Haitians(who were treated the worst) had to form their own clicks in order to protect themselves.
Particularly in Miami, there was a disdain among Black Americans for any Black People from anywhere else at all. I’m not even talking about just immigrants. I’m talking anywhere besides miami or florida. If you were from Georgia, Mississippi, California, ANYWHERE other than Miami or Florida, they had a problem with you, but only if you were Black. If you were any race other than Black, it didn’t matter where you were from. You didn’t get those kinds of problems.

He's lying. He literally owns the phrase Foundational Black Americans and therefore is the ONLY FBA that can freely monetize it.
Google who owns the copyright to FOUNDATIONAL BLACK AMERICANS
      then Google officialfba
He is the face of FBA because he owns it and therefore he decides what's official FBA, that's why his site is called officialfba

Talib is a certified clown for calling FBA and ADOS and anti immigrant movement because he knows better. It’s a damn shame that we can’t even stand up for ourselves without people who are under that same struggles having issues with it. And I’m a die hard boot camp fan. From helta Skelta and all that and I’m from LA. Just because you’re on the east coast is no excuse to not know. But salute to you ROC for doing the work to try to understand.

    Historical Context of FBA
    Slavery and Survival:
Enslaved Africans were brought to what is now the United States from the 1600s onward. Unlike other parts of the African diaspora, the U.S. enslaved population was largely isolated from African and Caribbean cultural influences after the transatlantic slave trade was abolished in 1808. This led to the formation of a unique culture among enslaved Africans in the U.S.
FBAs played a central role in building the economic and physical infrastructure of the U.S., such as cotton plantations, railroads, and other industries foundational to the country’s wealth.

✌️✌️✌️✌️🫡@19:15 I can’t completely agree with you on that point bro cause we had Caribbean people fighting alongside FBAs for those rights
    Shirley Chisholm
    Colin Powell
    Harry Belafonte
    Stokely Carmichael aka Kwame Toure
Marcus Garvey (without The UNIA and The Garveyite movement we may never have gotten a Malcolm X)
And also the Haitian revolution was integral in inspiring the revolts in America and elsewhere
    In the words of PE
    DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE
    WE R 1 B1

Exactly! A lot of Caribbean folk put in work during the Civil Rights struggle. Sidney Poitier, Michael Thelwell, Courtland Cox, and James Weldon Johnson were all of Caribbean descent. James Weldon Johnson even wrote our black national anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing."

Talib ain’t a ADOS or FBA. He’s of immigrant lineage.
His family is not from this country before 1865. His family is from the Caribbean.

New York. Man, I’m speechless. How you guys miss the real point of our plight is astounding. Come off the East coast and see the real America, Bruh. Come to the Midwest or the South, or even out West. Learn about Black folks from across the nation. It’s no wonder that Kendrick is King. And I’m an OG, but New York is slippin’. Too scared to check Fat Joe. SMH
