This goes to show how absolutely Brilliant Tim Burton is. Picking Jenna was absolutely perfect. As well as everything from HAIR, makeup, lighting, the music choice. Tim letting Jenna choreograph this dance. BRILLIANT it all works. I can not wait until season 2 comes out
I worked on the show and he did not want her to do it herself. We had 2 or 3 different choreographers on set the day prior, and he wasn't having it. Someone else gave her the okay to make her own dance and when Tim finally saw it, he eventually went with it. There's so much you don't know, don't give credit to one person please. We all worked so hard on this.
It's so funny how she's watching herself with this insecure giggle, like she KNOWS it's awesome, but she hasn't really found that confidence to just be like, "Yeah, that turned out really bad-ass." She seems kind of in shock of what she did and not ready to believe it. She inadvertently self-choreographed one of the best TV moments of the decade.

I am addicted to this scene. I had no idea she choreographed it when I first saw it. The references are SO on point that I thought it had to be a well known choreographer. Jenna Ortega is seriously the next IT girl
It's cool how this pays homage to Wednesday's dancing in the TV-series from the 60's (when it was just contemporary pop music, like the equivalent of Taylor Swift today, but now that the music is 60 years old, it emphasizes how old school she is instead). I also love how she throws in little bits of flamenco and tango, similar to how her parents would dance both in the TV-series and in the movies from the 90's.(and even a bit of Lurch)
I think the most magical part about this is that such a non expressive person is doing such an expressive dance void of rules or social norms which in turn makes to be unequivocally Wednesday. I didn’t know what to expect from her dancing but I come back to this scene constantly cause it’s so….. perfect.
I love that they used The Cramps- goo goo muck for this scene. Finally good music is starting to resurface again in film and tv. The most epic movies and shows for me growing up were epic because of the soundtracks....even when Wednesday plays cello...paint it black - the rolling stones...epic! This is why tim burton and danny Elfman are power houses ...they bring the scene and the sound together like fluid dance parters
I love seeing this. You can tell, Fred Armisen REALLY knows his punk. He heard two seconds and immediately goes "oh, the cramps!" And he says "googoo muck" to himself. Plus, I love seeing all the actors nerd out on the extra stuff like the lighting and blocking. And of course this was Emma's favorite scene. I feel like it's everyone's. I mean, it's definitely mine!
I absolutely love this scene. It might not be “Normal” dancing, but the dancing is so abstract and out there, it really is Wednesday as a dance. I think it shows that Wednesday can have fun in her own obscure, unique way. Truly, it is perfect.
I think she only blinks like 9 times in the 8 episodes which is great production and i think its all plot written blinks to show some emotion the show was great.
This is my favorite scene in the series. I'm stunned Jenna O. choreographed this herself like-oh my God. I thought the choreography was brilliant and so in line with her character, Tim Burton, etc. It's like the best combo of a bit creepy and so fricken adorable. Umm please choreograph future dance scenes in all your roles haha
She did some mad research for her dance performance and the product was excellent. For somebody who doesn't dance (according to her), she did some very good moves there. The swag and energy were great.
I hate that it might not be appropriate to get another dance scene like this but im telling you, the reason I took an interest in seeing this show was because I seen this clip and fell in love!!!! it was perfect in so many ways!!!! well done Wednesday, you are a true star!
The first time I saw this, I swore that it was choreographed by a professional dancer. The fact that she put this together herself speaks to her immense talent. Her moves were on point from start to finish, not too mention her expressions and musicality.
I completely lost it when I saw this scene - I'm not sure how they managed to film it without all the cast and crew falling to pieces with laughter. Jenna pulling off those "animated corpse" moves with a deadpan face was just pure genius on camera 😂
It's so iconic, but I had to put my phone away because it was pretty funny. I don't mean it in a bad way at all, it's just her super deadpan face as she strikes all those moves that kills me LMAO
The choreography fits perfectly with not only the song, not only the fact that it's an Addams, but also it being a Tim Burton project. I'm a long time fan of the Banshees so seeing Jenna Ortega incorporate a couple of Siouxie Sioux inspired moves into this is refreshing to see. She's an exceptionally talented Actor, i've seen a few films she's been in and there's definite diversity in her roles. I think she'll be mammoth in years to come. I really wouldn't be surprised to see her win an Oscar or two.
Her dance was very mesmerizing as mentioned in the video. I remember thinking it was pretty funny while watching it but I never seen it as bad or cringe. It’s such an amazing dance I’m surprised she was so self conscious about it.
this is actually a masterpiece . she danced like nobody was watching. just to express herself . she came that day to show what a dance floor is made for. she ate everything and left the plate in crumbs. this was very exactly wednesday of her.
One of the other moments in this scene was it showed how Wednesday was accepted finally by her peers, they loved her dance and joined in too. What a nice moment to see them dancing with joy.
That dance was mesmerizing! It has that wonderfully odd (maybe amateurish, but in the best way) and spooky spark that makes her stand out from the rest of the dancing crowd, I love it and I just can't get enough of it! 😆
I just finished watching the show. ❤️Loved it. The dance scene was so amazing I had to watch it 2 more times. My favorite part!! If she did this by herself she got it perfect. 😱. Looks exactly like I would imagine her dancing !!
The fact that Jenna made it herself is amazing. This is something I very much expect from Wednesday. Not interested in the least with the dance, But will dance and it will have her own VERY unique flare!
It makes perfect sense that Wednesday would dance that way. It's basically a form of the freak, and Wednesday on the 60s TV show was abreast of all current culture trends so much that she taught Lurch how to dance.
Jenna Ortega was truly born to play Wednesday and the fact that she choreographed this makes that fact even clearer Also……Fred Armisan saying “this is so cool” in the most genuine tone of voice…if I was Jenna I might die
Personally, the attention to the eyes calls back to Morticia from the 1991 films. Director Barry Sonnenfeld had history in adult entertainment and did the whole 1940's Hollywood seduction by putting light just onto Huston's eyes. So when this Wednesday just gave this intense stare, I felt it was a great way to show her intensity while paying respects to her mother. Beautiful performance and I am Ortega is an amazing Wednesday!
It’s funny, I was thinking of Morticia too while she was dancing, and wondering if she was that mesmerizing when she was younger. Then I saw the principal smiling while she watched too, and I bet it brought back some good memories. There certainly was a lot going on with this scene.
That was a pure Wednesday signature dance. Goofy, awkward, mesmerising, gothic, dark, possessed, frightful, and bloody amazing, all at the same time. Everything you'd expect of Wednesday. Bloody amazing.
So many high school shows that come out these days are cringe but I loved Wednesday. I haven’t stopped watching it since it came out. Jenna did such a great job and so did everyone else
Honestly this scene has played over and over in my head and I've rewatched the whole season today with my 7 year old (who is also Addams obsessed) because we had been watching and dancing to this one scene every day 🤣
When I saw that dance it made me tear up picturing Gomez and Morticia teaching their daughter to dance. Seeing Wednesday so kinetically expressive was a great counterpoint to her withdrawn demeanor in the show
I just strongly relate this moment to Uma Thurmans’ Dance in Pulp Fiction. It makes you look at the main Character in a completely different light. It elevates her perception in your mind. Very bold and inventive.
Indeed ... One of the best scenes, if not the best. How can I describe it? Jenna managed to bring Wednesday to life with a lot of realism. I am a big fan of Addams Family. This dance showed a lot of the character itself ... her strangeness, certain sweetness and creepiness. AWESOME!!! Greetings from Brazil ... here we call Wednesday Addams as "Wandinha"

the work that everyone - makeup, hair, costume, lighting, set design - has put into this show is phenomenal!
It's almost like it's a tv show 😳
Jenna is such a good actress
Yall say this about each actor
@@AnnaF33 yes but she's become very popular recent and for a good reason. She is good.
@@AnnaF33are only a certain few actors allowed to be good?
@@AnnaF33 because she is a good actress, we're just vocalising it.
🤡😵💫🤷🏻♂️
The fact that she used 60s Wednesday, Christina Ricci's Wednesday, 1991 Morticia and 80s goth kids dancing steps to create this masterpiece, is BANANAS!!!!!!!
She used Flamenco dance as well.
@@soupnfresh the flamenco dance is from morticia, in 1991's movie
And very trash. Ruined the entire adams family theme
@@codylevesque5200
What are you talking about?
This dance pays tribute to pretty much every incarnation of The Addams Family.
Hell, I even some of Lurch's dancing from the 60's TV-series in there.
@@Dhakadice just because they put some of the classic moves in there does not mean at all it isn’t trash. Its a mockery to the originals and the cast is trash
I love Luis, such a supportive and uplifting guy to everybody, a sweet soul. 'Look at her, she's beautiful.'
Hangi bölüm ve hangi dakika???
She's the perfect casting for wednesday, can't wait for season 2
False. This Wednesday sucks
@@codylevesque5200 If it sucks, then why so many people love it? Hater much?
@@AnimeViewer181 because there is 7 billion people on this planet. at least 2b of that would have an opposing opinion most likely. is calling me a hater supposed to do something?
@@codylevesque5200 Yes, it has a soothing effect on my ego. And it's 8 billion, not 7.
@@AnimeViewer181 even better odds for your weak mind. You just fanning over a hot chick in a show
I love this show so kool and the dance is epic kind of feels like she takes you back to earlier times I hope they make a season two
kool?
Agree
I am addicted to this scene. I had no idea she choreographed it when I first saw it. The references are SO on point that I thought it had to be a well known choreographer. Jenna Ortega is seriously the next IT girl
She personally ate this series up I love how they made a series just focusing on her and her story Jenna is the perfect fit for this role fr 💓
Watch a dance on RUclips (from Sweet Charity) called "The Aloof" choreographed by Bob Fosse. You'll see a strong influence there.
that song, The Goo Goo Muck, is only 42 years old. Still old school though, especially since the character is a teenager.
@@ser132
Yeah, I realized that too. It was retro even back in the 80's. :P
The lighting for the scene is also on point, especially that little glint of light in her eyes in some parts of the dance.
Her dance will forever be iconic.
It's just a silly dance on a silly tv show. People will forget about it in a couple of months. Calm down.
I think the most magical part about this is that such a non expressive person is doing such an expressive dance void of rules or social norms which in turn makes to be unequivocally Wednesday. I didn’t know what to expect from her dancing but I come back to this scene constantly cause it’s so….. perfect.
hunter's "no, it's a m a z i n g" perfectly sums up how i feel about the dance scene and the fact that jenna choreographed it herself
My favorite scene too, & I've been a fan of The Cramps since 1984!
I absolutely love this scene. It might not be “Normal” dancing, but the dancing is so abstract and out there, it really is Wednesday as a dance. I think it shows that Wednesday can have fun in her own obscure, unique way. Truly, it is perfect.
I love she never blinks. Makes the character so cryptic and morbid. Perfect Wednesday. Great job.
She does blink in the show, but very rarely
@@norskii4893 She said in interview that the directors didnt want her to blink
I think she only blinks like 9 times in the 8 episodes which is great production and i think its all plot written blinks to show some emotion the show was great.
What? She blinked several times in this very scene. She just tries not to blink.
Lol ok ok my apologies. I love how she rarely blinks a handful of times throughout the entire series.
I LOVE THE DANCE SCENE
The pick of the music is PERFECT. She literally dance to the music. OMG.
The music is amazing , anyone who knows the cramps , dance like that , she got the cramps beats !!!!!
This was one of my favorite scenes! Love her dance moves haha and it's even better knowing she choreographed them.
that fact how hypnotizing Wednesday is in this scene, along with her choreography.... most legit scene in show. so awesome.
The band playing is The Cramps.
@@adriantrusca1245 Yes, i'm aware of that.
Hands down, one of the best scenes of the show! 😍
Her dance was very mesmerizing as mentioned in the video. I remember thinking it was pretty funny while watching it but I never seen it as bad or cringe. It’s such an amazing dance I’m surprised she was so self conscious about it.
Jenna choreographing the dance herself is so impressive, and the dance was very hypnotizing🖤🖤🖤🖤
I like how she study adams previous dances and added to her dance moves, its brilliant and the honorable way.💯
I think I remember her saying in another interview how she talked to goth people and asked how they would dance.
@@Shade01982 and a lot of Fosse
this is actually a masterpiece . she danced like nobody was watching. just to express herself . she came that day to show what a dance floor is made for. she ate everything and left the plate in crumbs. this was very exactly wednesday of her.
One of the other moments in this scene was it showed how Wednesday was accepted finally by her peers, they loved her dance and joined in too. What a nice moment to see them dancing with joy.
I love this scene so much. The choreo, her facial expression, the lighting, everything is so good
That dance was mesmerizing! It has that wonderfully odd (maybe amateurish, but in the best way) and spooky spark that makes her stand out from the rest of the dancing crowd, I love it and I just can't get enough of it! 😆
The dancing goes alongside her personality in the series, her acting is just amazing.
I loved this! We need a season 2 this whole show was **chefs kiss** perfect!
I NEED THE SEASON 2 NOW OR I WOULD ACTUALLY GO MAD.
I just finished watching the show. ❤️Loved it. The dance scene was so amazing I had to watch it 2 more times. My favorite part!! If she did this by herself she got it perfect. 😱. Looks exactly like I would imagine her dancing !!
This scene was just... UNREAL! Choreographed it herself?! Every single beat she hit was perfection! I absolutely adored this scene! 😍
The fact that Jenna made it herself is amazing.
This is something I very much expect from Wednesday.
Not interested in the least with the dance, But will dance and it will have her own VERY unique flare!
That's a great scene. That strange, creepy, astonishing dance really suits the Wednesday chartacter.
We loved this scene so much we had to rewind and watch again.! Can't wait for next season
Me too. Watched several times.
It makes perfect sense that Wednesday would dance that way. It's basically a form of the freak, and Wednesday on the 60s TV show was abreast of all current culture trends so much that she taught Lurch how to dance.
It's almost impossible to become iconic these days but she's just gone and done it
This scene will live on in the repertoire of great dance scenes of all time.
Even her dancing is a veiled threat.
Most excellent.
Jenna Ortega was truly born to play Wednesday and the fact that she choreographed this makes that fact even clearer
Also……Fred Armisan saying “this is so cool” in the most genuine tone of voice…if I was Jenna I might die
I think she single handedly beat out the Pulp Fiction Dance imo.
This is one of the most iconic scenes I've seen on my tv in such a long time and maybe my fave to date ♥ incredible
i loved this scene, it SCREAMED the addams family. I feel like its a dance she learned when she was young, like an addams tradition
She's so talented 😍
Fred is the only one who acknowledges The Cramps' great song (yes, I know it's a remake...but it's the best version)....God bless him!
0:20 hes so adorableee i swear
Honestly this scene has played over and over in my head and I've rewatched the whole season today with my 7 year old (who is also Addams obsessed) because we had been watching and dancing to this one scene every day 🤣
I was instantly hypnotized when I first saw this scene. It’s so hauntingly beautiful and fits Wednesday so well
When I saw that dance it made me tear up picturing Gomez and Morticia teaching their daughter to dance. Seeing Wednesday so kinetically expressive was a great counterpoint to her withdrawn demeanor in the show
I loved this scene! Miss Jenna is being modest, this was truly awesome ✨
I just strongly relate this moment to Uma Thurmans’ Dance in Pulp Fiction. It makes you look at the main Character in a completely different light. It elevates her perception in your mind. Very bold and inventive.
Same thought
I'm not the only one! while this scene played I told my sister, oh we need to watch Pulp Fiction,
This video always makes me feel better
I DANCED WITH JENNA DURING THE WEDNESDAY DANCE SCENE I LOVE JENNA 🖤⚫😍😍😍😍😍😍
She choreographed the dance it was amazing I literally dance to it all the time cause how iconic she is
