- We finally made it to Alaska and stopped in the Knotty Shop. They have so much neat stuff. We also stopped off to see the pipeline. The best was my birthday dinner at the Turtle Club.

A friend of mine in the Air Force was the Fire Chief in North Pole Alaska. He is retired now.
Turtles are out unless you are at the Turtle Club.
That Pipeline area sure has changed since I lived in Anchorage. There was no viewing spot like this one, no interstate hwy. Just a 2 lane hwy. I lived there from 1981-1989. I really miss living there & getting the Prawns & Halibut. Love, love, loved Halibut. Can't afford it here in S. Texas. Enjoy your trip, safe travels. Luv ya's: GRAM👵in Texas.🙏❤
I left Eilson Air Force base in early 1989 I miss Alaska too. I’m to old to live there now. Out of shape

Funny story.....my husband's birthday is the summer solstice, and my birthday is the winter solstice. My oldest is also a December baby, and my twin sons are June babies.

That Burl wood is highly hunted for making furniture.
Nice shop. When I was in Alaska it was hard to find items made by native Alaskans. So many items had the made in China stickers. Some of the shops had signs that said Native Alaskan items.

The few times I have traveled out of state, I always go to a gift/souvenir shop and buy postcards, they always are way better than the actual pictures I take while traveling. 😅

You should take a small plane trip to MGrath. A small town in the bush. We lived there for a couple of years.
They have a B&B to stay in. An interesting stop on the Iditarod trail. I think you would enjoy it . There are mostly natives living there.
The white birch trees are the ones that have the burls on them

You two have to stop into Alaska horn and Antler in Soldotna. Very unique shop, Tom Cooper is the owner carver. That is if you get to the Kenai Peninsula. The Reds should be in the Russian river now.
