    I had the same problem with a wavy brim that I noticed many others did. It doesn't say so in the video but when you begin the 1st row of the brim you do a single crochet in the 1st stitch and then 2 in every 2nd. So do an increase every 2nd stitch in the 1st row of the brim and that should correct the problem.

    hi there, I would start you first row again and increase in the 3rd stitch instead of in the 2nd....did this make sence ?

    HI, I just made this beanie with the brim and mine is also wavy. I read the other comments, and I did increase every 3rd stitch. I love the beanie, I did the baggy paperboy. I might have to take it all out- Yikes! My first row seemed fine..

    Thank you so much for sharing your crochet skills on youtube. You have helped me so much. I appreciate your teaching skills. You make it SO much easier than the written patterns. I have made about 4 Tezzie hats. I LOVE that pattern but would not have been able to do it without you. Good job!

    HI there I do not understand your question, to make it longer and slouchy you add more rows, to make it wider baggier keep increasing and then decrease to fit around the band

    I think I might try this stitch with the cast of crew hat

    @mccaffmom HI
    With the brim it can throw a tantrum aka wavy :) It is becasue there are to many stitches on the first row, So if you did a increase (2 sttiches in each sttich) in every stich, try doing a increase in every third sttich and do the rest of the video for the other rows,

    I would have liked to see the finished brim. That was the whole point of the tutorial.

    Ok, I've been having this problem lately. When you slip stitch in the first single crochet and then single, or double crochet in that same stitch and continue doing rows maybe 7, until u stop with the increase, my hat puckers (lump) right in the top of the hat. that's if I do 2 stitches in the first stitch or 2 stitches when I'm ending my round. Why is that??.

  • @CrochetwithClare
    @CrochetwithClare  12 лет назад

    Oh how frustrating ! Maybe try every 4th stitch ? or do the first row as you did before and then do no more increase rows ...

  • @midnightpassion43
    @midnightpassion43 12 лет назад

    hi, this is my frist brim ever done and mine is wavy also. but i dont understand what u r saying. do i need to undo my 3rd and 2nd row back down 2 the fisrt row? or start where im at now on the 3rd row and do a increase in every third stitch?

    Hm. Somehow each time I attempt to crochet a beanie, it seems too big to me. I measure out the crown to the right length. It still seemed kind of lose so I followed your directions on how to decrease. I half double crocheted to five and did the decrease and then on the next row I half double crocheted to ten and did the decrease again. It still fills a little loose. Maybe it's supposed to be that way... I'm not sure.
    I am using a 4 ply yarn and a G/4.25mm hook.

    I am on the seventh row and my hat and it just started curling up a little, but it looks way too big! Will it get smaller as I continue? I did only 2 increase rounds using a size j hook, but I only did 10 or 11 double crochet stitches on the starting row/ row 1 because of the size of my hook. Please help me.

    Also when doing hdc rounds did you still have the chain 1 after sui many stitches? Or did you just stop doing that all together? ?

  • @CrochetwithClare
    @CrochetwithClare  12 лет назад

    @bleujinnii I would try making 1 less increase round and see how that goes :)

  • @commonkiller2001
    @commonkiller2001 11 лет назад

    Hey how would you increase to make it a little bit slouchy? Like would you double crochet 6 then chain 1?

  • @CrochetwithClare
    @CrochetwithClare  12 лет назад

    How many rounds did you make before starting hdc?

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  10 лет назад

      I am unable to tell you that, it all depends on how large you need your hat.
