No, in my opinion he made himself full earlier when he merged with the "bad self" and stopped the internal battle. There was some suppressed aspect of him entrapped in his psyche that kept him seeing the world as hostile and coercing him to mistreat the "monsters". Once he integrated his shadow, he kept seeing the world as hostile yet the dudette also accepted him as he was, and that last piece of the puzzle allowed him to be at peace.
