Hope you two do a deep dive into their discography. Lots of hits and hidden gems! Love RHCP
I've been anxiously awaiting that moment.
B-sides too
Especially live! 🔥🔥🔥
They are limitless with there music
Yes indeed. Been listening to fight like a brave alot recently
John is one of the guitar gods of the past decades.
@@stanflahaut1893 And what does that say? Nothing!
nah he's one of the musical gods of the past decades. the guy can do everything and anyone in the music industry who knows him will tell you about how amazing and fascinating he is musically. Nobody cares about youtube opinions in the grand scope of things.
@@stanflahaut1893 you could probably find a few. He is easily one the best mainstream guitarists of the 90s on. Does.he compare to guys like Page and Hendrix no? But he's definitely a good guitarist.
@@themistoklestheodosopoulos6253 he is not just good, he got mad skills and don't use them just to showoff andonly use it when necessary, go try snow and then talk to me... that shit is funny ridiculous but iswell done... and is chill and dirty and raw... but musical too... those better than him let their skills take over what the song needs lots of times (page did it a lot)
@@Edwin-ne2br I actually would agree with you. He is more restrained. That said I just think he isn't quite on there level technically speaking. But to be honest guys like Hendrix and Page were themselves not technical virtuosos. Within the pop/rock music framework they were considered that way but in reality we can go into in any jazz school right now and find a guitarist who would destroy them both in a test of pure skill. So I feel like when we talk about "great rock guitarists" we are accepting that there is a balance of skill and artistry that comes together.
Frusciante definitely has enough of both to be considered great.
I adored this from the moment I first heard it years ago. John Frasciante is a genius, Flea is amazing, Chad Smith is superb and Anthony Kiedis's lyrics always touch you.
John Frasciante Is not a genuis, he Is a Good guitar player in the era where Is NO Good guitar players!!!
@@sandorhartig3957 john frusciante is a literal genius, his ideas and chord progressions are unmatched. His simple hendrix style playing is so unique.
I'm old school classic rock. I'm 64 years old. IMHO the Red Hot Chili Peppers are the greatest rock band America has produced.
Cant argue with that, UK and Australia is usually where it comes from but the chilis really gave us a name lol
I’m 963 years old and I’ve seen a lot of rock bands come and go and they’ve all stuck around regardless of popularity or death. With that being said, Id like to say you are wet behind the ears in your age ,which is true, but I honestly think that’s a humble opinion I can not say anything that may be adverse….. you’re right. I’m trying to sound articulated. I know I fucked up but did any of my typing sound intelligible? Love your comment ❤
🤝🤝🤝
They are the best band. Dark Necessities, Encore, Save the Population, Zephyr song, Feasting on the Flowers, Wet Sand….the list goes on and on. Gotta check out more of their stuff. They are the best band.
Wet Sand is one of my all time favorite songs!
Chilli peppers live are great. They are all masters of their instruments. Especially Flea (bass) and John (Guitar).
All their live stuff is very improvised.
Will Farrell does just fine on the drums too.
If anything, I'd say especially Flea and Chad Smith lol
Yeah, sure cause Chad Smith is a noob, fcuk me
I have their Live at Slane Castle concert on DVD, and the whole thing is perfection.
One of my roommates that I lived with for a year-and-a-half was actually at Slane Castle for a college trip and saw that concert
@@valorgaming7114 Oh my goodness!! I’m so jealous.
Any fan of RHCP MUST see their live concert at Slane Castle 2003. I mean MUST. :)
RHCPs are a genius group of individuals, who are artistic, creative and know how to put it out there. Highly respected and they are a fantastic musical contribution to us. Thank you for sharing this one...=)
SOOOOO glad you guys got to check this one out! Criminally underrated song, absolutely best enjoyed in live form(don't tell me they aren't passionate with live performances like 'Don't Forget Me'), and, frankly, what I think is one of the songs that are closest to "perfect" there is! Does that mean it should be everyone's favorite, that everyone should like it? Of course not, it isn't necessarily my favorite song ever; but I don't think there's anything that could be changed(at least not obvious) that would make it "better" than it is as is, for what it is it's just so perfectly written & performed. Being really passionate about muh music, this is one that conjures up the feels just from the performance, I'll never get sick of this one.
Yeah it is one of my favs songs of them
Omg ! You’re actually reacting to this!!! RHCP is my fav band of all time. Frusciante was amazing during this
Hell yeah, I don't know if RHCP is anyone's favorite band right away. But they for sure grow. Keep on em!
This is from their Stadium Arcadium tour. John went OFF and channeled Hendrix. It was a spiritual experience. I saw them twice on this tour. Holy Shit!!!
This is from the By the Way tour. Stadium Arcadium didn’t come out until 2006. This show was in 2003
John’s solos always give me goosebumps when they are live… but this one here just makes me fully crawl. I love it.
Can't believe you guys did this song. Hands down my favourite Chili peppers song!!!!!!!!!!!!
For more of this side of RHCP, in my opinion, check out Wet Sand, Slow Cheetah and Strip My Mind. I think you guys would enjoy them. Happy new year btw, I wish y’all the best.
100% agree. Those are 3 of my favorite morning drive to work songs. Slow cheetah still gives me chills after almost 15 years
I second this! 👌 good stuff
Hey and Especially in Michigan are also pretty stellar
Never heard this song until years of listening to RHCP and it’s now one of my all time favorites
🤘Same🤘
More Red Hot Chili Peppers please!!! i like "throw away your television" live at slane castle, it's amazing song!
that whole album is so good.
This version is fantastic, & that solo is 🔥🔥
RHCP is one of those bands that you really enjoy it when its live.
Even the songs I dislike in the studio version are pretty damn good live.
Please react to something from their Slane Castle concert.
Quite possibly the most underrated guitarist ever. John Frusciante.
💚
in what planet is Frusciante underrated?
@@coldsilence2 Jupiter and mars the stadium 🏟 Arcadium a mirror 🪞 to the moon 🌚
Wow that a cool live video of RHCP, thanks, never seen that before
I tried for so long to get a reaction channel to listen to this live version of the song "Don't Forget Me", with no success so I gave up on it. I was so glad to see you guys actually do it. RHCP is an amazing band to see live! One of the most energetic live bands I've seen. John Fruscanti completes the band, putting so much emotion into his writing, playing and his relationship with each member is definitely obvious once you know their backstory and then to see them play off each other live on stage. John is 1 of my favorite top 10 guitarists ever!
Love the channel you two and to see your growth on your musical adventure and how you also play and feed off each other to make for a great reaction each time. truth be told it took me a minute to warm up to dudes personality but much respect now.:-)
I’m a big fan of the RHCP. Talent and drug tragedies collide. Totally amazing. May I recommend two, “Snow (Hey Ho)” and “Brendan’s Death Song”
That's the legend John Frusciante on guitar. He rejoined the band recently, can't wait for the new album!
I love this song for a weird reason. I'm a bass player and Flea is obviously on my Mt. Rushmore. However, he understands in this song it's his time to keep it simple and provide the foundation so the other band members can go nuts. I love that he made that choice.
"I'm the rainbow, in your jail cell
All the memories of everything you've ever smelled"
One of their hardest lyrics over insane Frusciante guitar
This was always one of my favorite songs of theirs. A hidden gem.
Lex you need to listen to a lot more Chili Peppers. Their catalog is so immense you can't help but learn to love them.
So happy I’m seeing them on tour 2022 🔥❤️
Will Ferrell playing the drums. What a talented individual.
😂
Yesssssss!!!!!!!! This is my favorite red hot song live and so amazing
John frusciante was my favorite guitratist from 13-18, he is very famous for his guitar distortion, especially making the guitar sound like a violin. You're not crazy for hearing that Lex. Rock on!
My favorite Chilli peppers song...
They have so many good ones, and they are a band that sound better the more you listen to them...that is a rare quality in musicians...Lexi you remind me of every kid in the ninties listening to thi's kind of music for the first time...You have a ninties/eighties soul...that's a compliment...the music is about combining the music to sound like human emotions somderives the music is the lyrics....as you guys get older these songs will take on new meanings for you both...love the vidz 🤘
Goddamn chilli peppers, food for the soul.. Love em..
I love the question from Brad. "You didn't know that?" About their talent. Turn up for the books.
I’ve seen the Chili Peppers 4 times live, and they’re one of the greatest live bands of all time!! 🤟
I would like you to hear more RHCP live performances but in general anything from them would be fine, for me the best band ever
This band is amazing. Do more!
My little cousin committed suicide on his 22nd birthday 10 years ago. This was his favorite Chilli Peppers song. It's just so good and will forever make me cry. Glad you two gave it a listen. Happy New Year and much love sent your way! Peace.
😢Sorry for your loss, been a RHCP fan for years n just recently found this hidden gem and it's definitely my favorite!
Sending healing prayers from Idaho-Nez Perce Country ♥️💯
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏 they are very unique and in a lane all their own. Love them
one of my favorite version of that song John Frusciante's solo is so epic and ge puts so much of him into it....
Tell Me Baby!!!! Fire song and funky 🎸
Prop their best musically composed and yet impromptu song...the studio version is amazing but their live versions are by far genius works of art...this song is about their addictions...and when Anthony says "I'm", it's the drug talkin...I highly recommend watching other live versions of this song
Haven't heard this one, but damn, it's fire. 🔥🔥🔥
RHCP - Knock Me Down
is probably the best song RHCP has ever done. And, nobody reacts to it, and it seems a lot of people don't even know it.
Most people only know their stuff from blood sugar sex Magik and beyond. Their 80s stuff was the best!
“This is like…music.” That literally sounds like something my grandmother would say 😂
The violin sound is a volume swell on the guitar.
Basically, you strike a note with the volume all the way down and then turn the volume up the give it a “swelling effect” which ends up sounding like a violin.
I looove this song. Its about the feelings and struggles of fighting/doing drugs. When he "screams" the background vocals say "side ways falling all will b revealed my friend". when ur sitting down and u first inject heroin that amazing feeling overcomes u and u just fall sideways.
Thank you for sharing this explanation and insight on the lyrics. Much appreciated 👍🤘
Love this. I've had this live version on my iPod for ~12 years.
wow, can't even guess how many times I've listened to this recording, it's such a gem. John Frusciante on guitar is my kryptonite, as long as his tunes are flowing in my ears everything else is on pause =)
The guitar technique at the start is often called swelling the notes in. The strings are hit with the volume down, then the volume is increased, it can be tricky to do :)
The Chili Peppers are the best, they have so much style & every album is different. The guitarists John Frusciante is one of the best guitarists ever. He's been out of the band for awhile & just re-joined the band with a new album & tour in the spring. Rick Rubin the notorious producer says he cried when he heard them re-join in the studio. I can't wait. Please check out "Sir Psycho Sexy" of the Blood Sugar Sex Magic album. thx.
glad you guys liked this! Live performances are where RHCP really shine. I think you'd really like Parallel Universe live at Slane Castle
this song is fire!!
Yes just don't watch film clip..I suggest they watch the lyric video but it is one of their best...
This ìs one of their best but I think slide is up there
You should check out Desecration Smile or She Looks to Me, two of my personal favorites. They’re both the more mellow side of the Chili Peppers and beautiful songs
Lex actually touched on something. For me, you can't actually truly appreciate rhcp without appreciating each of the components that make it up. For me, i started focusing on flea playing the bass, that allowed me to use it as a pillar to guide me throughtout each song and then i started honing in on the other instrument playing etc which is when i TRULY felt rhcp touch my soul. When you first hear Cant Stop for example devoid of this context, it can seem like some pop relic of the past. So i guess i get why she says she doesnt like their other stuff but then the moment she sees them live she changes her mind. I guarantee if she saw those other songs she said sher didnt like live she would change her mind.
chili Peppers is an acquired taste, as an 18yr old wild land fire fighter ,chili peppers basically defined my summer of 1993, they were my jam on those crazy days!!!!!
John was doing volume swells, bringing it up from zero to make the violin-like sound. Great fkn band. Please do 'Knock Me Down'. ;>D
You might really like Soul to Squeeze by them
Lex, that guitar sound that you heard that sounded like a violin is a technique called volume swells. It's really fun to do and hard to be really good at. Adrian Belew and also Alex Lifeson from Rush were awesome at them. But basically you turn the volume knob down with your pinky and then you strike the note on the string and then after the attack you quickly bring the volume up with your pinky and then you repeat it as long as you want to do that.
john fruscante was actually just doing a volume burst with his guitar to create that violent sound
Absolutely sounded like a violin! Then I even thought it sounded like a piano...
Glad you picked THE BEST performance of this. SERIOUS. 👍💪❤️
Probably my favorite live recording of any RHCP song. Have watched this one now and then for a few years now. Bad a*s cut.
One of my favorite RHCP videos of all time. ❤❤🎧🎸
This is one of my favourite live songs the Chili Peppers have ever done. That, and Dani California live at Alcatraz I would 100% recomend to anyone who asks me what songs best represents the band. Great reaction fam ❤
Yup the live version, especially this one is outright superior to the recorded version
You guys should check out one of there jams live. They’re a magical band and one of the best out there.
Jonh Frusciante is one of the best guitar players ever period !!! When you do Red Hot allways do them live...(Slane Castle concert, Irland)...
I agree w Lex. I've never heard this song before and it's one of my favorite Chili Peppers songs ever! ✌️
Snow (Hey Oh) is an absolute must by them and I have no doubt in my mind that Lex will love it
Watch anything from their Slane Castle concert. Throw Away Your Television or Venice Queen would be great, but literally anything from that concert will give you a new appreciation for their skill.
My favorite song by rhcp ❤️ love this and reminds me of those people and things Ive loved before.
I'm pretty sure this song is about being into drugs or being so into someone that you are their drug
Also my favorite RHCP song! This is such a great version of it, too
John Frusciante is one hell of a guitar player and Flea on the bass is one of the best bass players in the world.
Volume swells are the technique he was using at the start of the guitar part. Eddie Van Halen did this in Eruption as well.
You have one of the top 10 guitar players of all times combined with a top ten Jazz Bass player of all times in a Band :D It has to be amazing
RHCP are a must watch live
Seen the in the 90's, 2000's and 2010's......It's time to see them again.
Frusciante's guitar playing is just 100% pure feeling.
YEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!! Ive been waiting patiently for some live RHCP
“Overcome & more will always be revealed”
Thus version is my favorite I cry every time with its beauty
I am very much a "sound" person over a "lyrics" person 🤣 there are still songs to this day that I love but don't know the lyrics to...oh and Happy New Year Brad & Lex!! 😎🤘
Greatest guitar player ever!!!! Yall have to keep watching them live!!! Just check out a best solos compilation of john frusciante. Yall will love it!! He just plays in the moment, but he has more skill than anyone. (Also, of topic, check out john mayer - slow dancing in a burning room live in la)
I appreciate y’all being yourselves and not on for the camera. Enables me to enjoy watching your reaction if I trust it’s genuine
The guitar player is a savage
I saw Chad Smith the drummer, at the airport once. I fanboyed out pretty hard.
Lex, the guitar sounded like a violin cause John Frusciante faded in the notes with the volume knob! A cool technique. Volume 0 -> play string -> fade in with volume knob. You get no hard attack of the note, smooth strings like notes instead
My all time favorite of the peppers, John is just guitar jesus so glad he’s back. Great reaction, slane castle is our holy place for rhcp fans. React to anything from that live show
When i hear or see musicians at thier best
I think how hard it must be to play at this level not once, not twice but thousands of times over and over again for fans who may or may not like you.
That has got to be a strange feeling ???
How many individuals we have lost because of that feeling .... 🤔🤔🤔
If you like this, I'd recommend "Wet Sand" either the studio version or Live at Pinkpop. The studio version is much more melodic but the live version carries much more energy. Love seeing you guys react!
Really hope you two listen to more Chili's, they really are unbelievably talented. One of my favorites is "Turn it again" and i think you both with dig it. Cheers!
You should do “Dani California “ by rhcp it’s a great tune
ABSOLUTELY! Rock on Brad & Lex
literally saw the RHCP live last night- outstanding musicians.
JANES ADDICTION "JANE SAYS"..A MUST HEAR..TRUTH!!
I love when you two react to live performances. You could never get this experience from the lyric video. I hope you do more reactions to live performances - like Led Zeppelin "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" (Live Danmarks Radio 1969). Thanks for doing this one.
Love this performance, glad you like them here :) They have plenty great live songs you gotta see. John is a god :)
This my favorite song of theirs.
Second time around....I was rocking rhcp when I was a kid and still rocking it when you were a kid but thank you for your introduction to this live version I cranked this shit in northern woods and never the name old school cd on play kados to you 4 expanding my shiz
