Y’all have me in tears. My 14 year old daughter was shot and killed while sitting in a car with her friends at the park in Dallas Tx on February 12, 2018. It’s been just over a year and my eldest daughter who was 17 and is 18 now has been devastated by the loss of her sister they were best friends. I’m struggling so much to keep myself together and to help her through this. It’s the most painful indescribable pain anyone can go through. Nobody deserves this type of pain it feels like this world is so fucked up and unfair. I look at my daughter and I see the pain in her eyes and it kills me I feel like In a way I’ve lost both of my little girls......and there’s nothing I can do or say to make it better.
I'm PRAYING for both you and your daughter. I know everyday is hard for your daughter losing her sister in such a horrible manner. As a Mother I could not imagine that PAIN that YOU deal with DAILY. I'm asking for MENTAL STRENGTH for you both. God Bless You BOTH. I'm in Dallas so this really really hurt my heart to read.🙏
BigGirl Barnes Thank you very much for your kind words they are truly appreciated. It is very hard and she also struggles with the fact that everywhere she goes she is always looked at as Natalie’s big sister and she hates the feeling of it. She has been to every school in our area (Balch springs/Pleasant Grove) and since it was on the news and so many people knew about it she took their condolences as pity or idk she just wanted to get away. So she’s moved in and out with aunts and friends and has just been very angry and seems to have given up on everything. She’s trying to run from our reality and it kills me because i know no matter where she goes the loss of her baby sister will always be with her. Our community has been great they really came out and showed so much support and thank God we are now waiting for 2 of the men to go to trial. I’m blessed in that aspect but I also know it’s going to be very tough to go through it all again since she ran into a gas station for help there is graphic video of her last moments..... but i think of all those parents out there that never find justice or even worse they never find their children... I know my baby is in God’s arms safe and sound and one day I will be with her again that thought is what helps me get out of bed.... sorry for rambling. Thank you again for your kind words 🦋

Damn, 2009 is the year I left my abusive husband of 15 years and went to another state. This is an example of something everyone needs to understand. When a woman leaves her abusive partner, that is when she is at MOST risk of being killed or hurt seriously. Please do not take leaving an abusive relationship lightly. It is very serious, the best way is to leave to somewhere where he does not know about, stay of of work, don't start a new relationship right away. Do not tell him you're leaving, you can call him later and tell him. And family and friends, please know that sometimes it is not the right time for her to leave him, everybody thinks it's so easy to leave. Please continue to love her unconditionally and don't spend a lot of time hating on him, it pushes her closer when she has to defend her relationship . PLEASE LADIES LEAVE SAFELY, take it seriously. (BTW I was able to get disability for stress/depression leave, if you are in a state where that is possible take advantage of that, it's your money).

He said it so good when he said it's his son's brother, so it will only cause jealousy or resentment from one that's not getting attention and not understanding the reason for his brother to be excluded. My dad remarried when I was 11. My step-mothers parents were/are super-ish rich. So my 4 year old (half) sister would get a box of clothes and toys every month, I never had any bad feelings about my sister but I knew that if I was every in my step-mothers or my step-grandparents position, I would include whatever children are in the house. If I was my step-mother I would have said something about it. And what happens is whatever mother is in the house gets to advocate for her children. So even though I'm the oldest and my and my grandmother (my father's mother) were really close, I had 16 years of having her in my life. My sister was only 5 when she died so didn't really know her that well. At that time I was told my little sister was getting her wedding ring. As the oldest granddaughter I should have got that ring, but my mother was the ex-wife and not there to stand up for me. It wasn't about the actual ring it is about sentimental and tradition. Even now, my sisters grandparents are always taking the whole family on vacation (Costa Rica, Florida, etc.) but not me. I really hadn't noticed until my sister told me she asked why I wasn't invited. She had some feelings about that, and I don''t think they really an answer. So for all you step-parents out there take his actions. I never say "half" sister, she's my sister period. All children in the house should be treated equally, as Ryan said it's not the children's fault the parents couldn't get it together.

Oh my word, Jason and Ryan. My son was killed, and I didn't want anyone to touch anything of my younger son. Then his friends would say,e my son was their brother. I would tell them to stop saying that, because I only had one sons. They dare not my sons. My oldest son felt his younger brother death and it still affects DEEP. my heart goes out to the both of you.
