    Love your tutorials- thank you! Can you please tell us how you secure the wire on the wire wrapped embellished cuffs? They look great!

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  9 лет назад +1

      Valerie Mott On those cuffs, I just made sure that the tail was on the inside of the cuff and I gave it a really nice tight squeeze (with my chain nose) to keep it in place. If you wrap the wire on tight and squeeze that tip, it should stay in place. This way the wire is in the inside of the bracelet and will not catch on anything an pull open. File that tip down slightly if it isn uncomfortable. Have fun :)

    We would recommend using a metal shear, jewelers saw, or guillotine. The Fat Daddy will work well for short cuts, but not for cutting long strips off of a piece of sheet.

    How do you account for the spaces when you are stamping? I noticed you allowed 2 numbers between each word, but when stamping how do you gauge that?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  5 лет назад

      Its totally personal preference. I tend to stamp my letters close to each other. I get more space that way. But it also depends on the size of the letters. For more stamping tips, check out the link below.

    Hi. Thanks for the great tutorial. I'm keen to try making cuffs - they seem like lots of fun. I was wondering though, if you have any tips or a tutorial on how to stamp on the outside surface like the cuff but on ready-make full circle bangles?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  9 лет назад

      Nourish BodyBaby great question! To stamp on ready made bracelet, I have either stamped on a round mandrel or sometimes you can hang the piece over the corner of you bench block and do it that way (this option doesn't work too well with tightly round stuff). Check out this product video on riveting on a mandrel. beaducation.com/product_videos/162-riveting-on-a-mandrel You would use the same setup for stamping. Hope this helps :)

    Great video. I my metal is 6mm wide, what would be the best size stamp to use?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  5 лет назад +1

      You can use a 4mm letter. I just wouldn't get too close to the 6mm. If you stamp too close to the edges of the metal, it can get more distorted.
      Check out the helpful charts on the link below to help with picking your letters.

    thanks for this tutorial! A few questions:
    Would you recommend using tape to hold down the metal?
    What thickness (mm) is the silver?
    Is there a minimum or maximum thickness that you recommend?
    Thank you ~

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  5 лет назад

      You can certainly tape it down. We use stamping tape. Check out other stamping tutorials and info below.
      This wire is 1mm thick, we also carry 1.5mm thick. And it's 5mm wide but we also carry it in 7mm. The thickness we carry is what we have always worked with. The thicker the metal, the harder it is to stamp. But this thickness works great for this project:)

    I want my letters on my cuff to look Nice and dark, but I can't seem to get my letters dark enough using a sharpie marker, especially after I've used a nail buffer to remove the extra ink of the aluminum . Is there something I'm doing wrong or could try instead? Help!

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  7 лет назад +2

      Hi there! Sorry for the late reply. I just found your comment in "likely spam" (weird!). Most likely you aren't getting your letters deep enough and when you go to clean the surface, you are pulling the black out of the letter because they are light. Maybe try striking the stamps a bit harder. Hope this helps!

    • @beaducation

I hope I am understanding our question right :). Here is a link to the flat wire that I used. beaducation.com/pc/258-wire-sheet-metal?utf8=✓&qry=&choices%5B128%5D=on&sort_order=Default

    • @beaducation

    • @alexandrakirsch4532
      @alexandrakirsch4532 10 лет назад

      THANKS! but know I have another question...to be more specific, I don't want to stamp in one side and then the design shows in the opposite side, because basically I want to stamp in both sides of the silver piece. Is 5mm still ok?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  10 лет назад

      Alexandra Kirsch Hi, the measurement of the sterling flat wire that you will be concerned with is the 1.5mm, that is how thick it is. 5mm refers to the width. 1.5mm thick is usually thick enough to stamp on both sides but it is very hard to avoid the scuff marks. When you stamp on side 1 you get scuff marks on side 2. Make sure your bench block is very smooth and try stamping lightly.

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  10 лет назад

      Hi, As with any metal, there is always a risk that your skin will react adversely. The other concern with aluminum can be oxidation, if it has not been anodized properly.

    can this chemical reaction work on goldfilled material ?

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  6 лет назад

      The solution used in this class is made for silver. There may be other products on the market that are designed to work with gold filled.

    • @beaducation
      @beaducation  6 лет назад

      You can also use this solution by applying it with steel wool. I would do a search online on how to do that. We unfortunately do not cover that technique.
