Oh boy, does this bring back awesome memories back in high school, when this was released. Sending as many healing vibes Jimmy's way during his healing process - get well soon Barnsey, we all love you to bits, and wanna see you back on your feet asap. You rock Jimmy ❤🤟
Hi Roslyn, a great song, coming out of the Stagedoor Tavern in Sydney after seeing the boys, filled up on my bottle of Branda vino , a terrible drink but it was cheap.
As an oldie you can see how great it was for us to grow up listening to Cold Chisel and other bands of that era. Cruising the highways with the car stereo wound up, it didn't get any better than that.
@@Aussieforever I bought that HQ Monaro in the early 90's, still have it. It's my retirement fund now lol, I can't believe how much they're worth these days.

I still remember how you were either Skyhooks or Sherbert. I was Skyhooks. And also Divinyls, Australian Crawl, Midnight Oil, Hunters &Collectors, and Hoodoo Gurus. All as good live as on vinyl, or cassette 😊

79 i was 10 when this song came out 70's 80's Aussie music i grew up with just like Cold Chisel, Inxs, Midnight Oil, Radiators, Angels, Ice House Screaming Jets, Rose Tattoo & many more.
I was 10 also 👍. I grew up in a musical family so I was surrounded by all genres of music from the 50s onwards. My brother was mates with the midnight oil drummer Rob Hirst. But 70s and 80s are my faves. I like a little bit of everything. Radiators gimme head is one of my fave songs. I didn’t know what I was singing and dancing to half the time I just knew if I liked the music and the beat, I liked it😂

Bit of a back story. I beleive Sweethearts was an actual diner that catered to the party goers and "working" girls of kings Cross in Sydney through the 70s and 80s (maybe earlier as well). It has been demolished now but was an iconic part of that time and place. Also, much love to Jimmy, hope his surgery goes well and we can see him on a stage again soon.
Correct, Sweethearts was a cafe and a King's Cross icon for many years and breakfast at Sweethearts was a traditional end to a long night in the 'cross. Anne Maria was a waitress (and IIRC part owner) for 15 plus years, known to cop and crim alike. Sweathearts finally met its end when it was firebombed once too often (calling the area somewhat sketchy would be an understatement especially back then) and they gave up. Funnily enough, it did relocate at least once in its history but it was never on Campbel Lane. Its last location was roughly where McDonalds is now.
Lived in Potts Point (part of Kings Cross) for a few years in the 70’s, I ate there a couple of times - but mostly I couldn’t afford the prices at Sweethearts, where you could have alcohol at any time of the day including breakfast time. My regular cafe was the Astoria, where you could have a very plain meal, like lamb cutlets and vegetables with free tea or coffee for $1.75 - used to go there once a fortnight when my pay came in. The Piccolo in Roslyn street was the best, and ‘the Place’ in Bayswater road.
Sure was the cross was place for those people still kicking on when clubs and pubs shut and was those not wanting the night to end what better place the Cross Great memories
They were such good songwriters. They could do anything! I never get sick of hearing their music - and I'm old enough to remember when this song came out!
While staying in kings cross sydney Had breakfast at sweethearts restaurant many times before going to set up our bands equipment ..yeah they had pancakes

That's the best thing about Chisel they had so many different sounds. Alot of bands stick to a formula and regurgitate the same sound over and over. 🎼🎵🥰

Man this brings back memories of waking up one morning, hungover and crawling out of my tent and my mate had this song playing with a fire burning, boiling a billy for breakfast. Great memories
One of my all time favourite Cold Chisel songs. The groove hits so good with the base line and then the harmonies hit on another level again. So good 👌👌

Sweethearts was a cafe in Kings Cross back in the 80's that was open all night. Sydney had a great party scene and after the pubs in the suburbs shut down around midnight people often caught a train to the Cross and partied till dawn and got a breakfast at Sweethearts 4-5am before limping home.
