    - The second and third hits of 1A:A:A are both just frames. I think you said just the first one.
    - Learning to haze into moves is really important for meter management. Plus, it lets you do cool stuff like advance into 44B+K. For example, 4B:B, 3B+KB, 6B, 8B+KB, 6A+B builds about 8% of a bar while the hard command version (4B:B, 2143BB, 6B, 8B+KB, 2143aB) builds 25%, while also doing 6 more damage if you can get the just frames.
    - Best follow up I've found after 236A+G is 2362_4A+BA. ~51 damage isn't bad. Edit: I'm a goof. Best follow up is 2143a:B. 55 dmg normally, 59 with JF. If you can't do that, or only need the damage to kill, just do 6A+B.
    2362A+BA is good if you have a wall to your left, as it can sometimes grant a combo, if the opponent comes off the wall properly.
    Still learned a ton from this video. Thank you so much for making it.

      Thanks for this. Pinning this. I suspected that with 1AAA. I couldn't for the life of me get the 2nd or 3rd JF's on pad.

      @@ForceofNature99 It's all a timing thing. You're right in that you have to hit the next button when the previous one hits the opponent. I've been playing Setsuka since SC3, so I still have a feel for it. But it's not easy.
      But outside of the extra meter build, it's up to each individual player to decide whether the extra ~10% or so damage is worth it. I honestly think learning how to haze for meter build is much more important, especially at the start, but I'm also not a pro level player. So, to each his/her own.

    If anyone with a stick is having a hard time with a:g:B just frame I have a nice tip for you.
    I'm not positive when they added it back into sc6, but we can double map single buttons now(could not at launch).
    So I personally had my stick mapped as:
    A B K -
    G - - -
    So, make use those dead spaces on the bottom row! My new layout since Sets came back is now(was also my sc5 layout for Apat):
    A B K -
    G A G B
    This effectively lets you just quickly whip your finger across those last 3 buttons on the bottom row for a perfect just frame a:g:B 100% of the time.
    I happen to use a Hitbox so the buttons are smaller and makes the command that much easier to do, but its still absurdly easy even with full size fightstick buttons.
    Its totally worth adding this just frame move into your arsenal, it gives you stupid damage combos for low effort. On lethal hit counter launchers it lets you do it 2 to 3 times and chase it with a twister for obscene damage.

    If someone was good at Alpha Patroklos, it meant they were truly alpha. In terms of execution at least. I knew a guy who was super consistent at the just frames, but he would get read like a book and lose a lot. But there would be those guys who wiped the floor against my viola or cervantes. Truly terrifying to fight against, but also mad respect, since there was no easy mode inputs.

      It always felt awesome getting messages after games in 5 with people complementing me on my JF usage. Thats why Apat ripped. He was the best character in the game, by far, if you could nail your JF inputs. Or he was the worst character in the game, by far, if you couldn't lol. Win or lose, if you can bang out your JFs you get respect.

    I thought I'd commented on here before but i just rewatched for the fun of it. This guide really helped when i first started playing. I actually picked up Setsuka as my first character as a complete a noob to soul calibur and refused to give up once i figured out shes not exactly beginner friendly but this guide helped me out tremendously. It took me a few months to be able to use her hard inputs and get the JF down(i still miss inputs and or drop combos now but not often). I think its important to learn the haze input moves though, otherwise building meter is almost impossible. But this guide taught me its ok to use the easy ones when i need to lol. The detail you go into is extremely helpful, knowing what range your character is best at and which moves are best for combos starters isnt covered in a lot of guides. I appreciate these tutorials you put out man you've helped me improve my setsuka and seong mi-na a lot. I first saw this guide about 2 years ago i think but rewatching it was a good refresher course so to speak. Thanks again for the work you put into these!

    I also noticed moves from her QCF stance (which are her 66 moves) produce more meter than doing 66 input.
    The combo at 5:42, you could improve by ending with 236B+K.B for more meter. Similarly all her other moves from that stance produce more meter.

    • @ForceofNature99
      @ForceofNature99  4 года назад +2

      Ah, thanks for the heads up! Yeah, Setsuka has these little tricks for boosting her meter, because her moveset doesn't innately "generate meter quickly". I'll admit that the 66B+KB enders are actually optional because they can be ukemi'ed (thus the combo unfortunately would have to be cut short against an opponent that tech rolls it). A general rule of thumb for Setsuka pretty much: The tougher the technique performed, the more meter it generates. It's an interesting design to encourage and ease players into her "real execution".

      @@DreadPykeNo problem dude. If you liked Just Frame shenanigans, you missed the fun with SoulCalibur V's Alpha Patroklos. He utilised Setsuka's playstyle, but had JF shenanigans out the ass (some considered him "broken"), but was super technical to compensate. Setsuka's easier, but naturally rewards technical play.

      Yeah, you can learn SCVI with Setsuka, she's not as "weird" as say Voldo or Azwel, but it can be too tempting to get caught up just focusing on execution, instead of fundamental stuff. To help out, you can just use the "Easy commands" until you've gained some experience with SCVI and Setsuka in general. To put things in perspective, it would be a lot easier to learn the game with a character like Geralt, Seong Mina, Mitsurugi or Sophitia for instance.

      For Directional Notation
      7 8 9
      4 5 6
      1 2 3
      Each number represents the corresponding direction. 1 for "Down-Back", 9 for "Up-Forward", 5 for "Neutral" or no input, etc. Quarter-Circle Back = 214, Quarter-Circle Forward = 236, Half-Circle Back = 63214, Half-Circle Forward = 41236, etc.
      For Input commands:
      A = Horizontal Attack
      B = Vertical Attack
      K = Kick
      G = Guard Button
      6G = Guard Impact
      A+G = First Throw
      4A+G = Second Throw
      6B+G = Resist Impact
      B+G = Reversal Edge
      A+B+K = Critical Edge

    Is tira a bad character to learn the game with?

    • @ForceofNature99
      @ForceofNature99  4 года назад +3

      In general yes, because you essentially need to learn two movesets with her: Jolly mode & Gloomy mode. She also doesn't switch moods on a whim, so there's an element of randomness with the "mood changes". If you don't mind putting in the extra work, she's got decent tools to work with.

    She's one of those, "Either you saw my boy Force of Nature's guide, or your losing!" Type characters. If you don't KNOW what you're doing, you WILL, uh, get it in the end (f'ing community guidelines) without Vaseline or mercy, sandpaper rolled in resin and broken glass condom, not even the common courtesy of a reach around. Uh, (*smacks self upside own head. Get back on track, idiotá!) what I'm trying to say is while "Snow Flower" ain't my cup of tea per se, she has her own charm for those that use her and she is quite formidable for those who have trouble dealing with her, *ahem, more interesting strings. Every one I've come across online is either total trash or whoops mine posterior post haste "GG Scrub! :-)"

    I hate to admit it, but Setsuka is just not a fun character to play to me. She doesn't have some form of decent introductory that makes it easy for me to understand her combos and strengths. A lot of button pressing with hardly any results to come through. I've yet to meet a strong Setsuka online either, cementing that her playstyle isn't that strong or fun.

      very late reply '.' Setsuka is almost impossible to play optimally online due to the netcode creating just frame variance, so is very unpopular online, but her optimal oppressive pokes playstyle can be learned online, other characters are better though aye if you get a lot of fun out of combos, even offline she isn't a combo oriented character.
