- This video details custom parts I machined when building my Factory Five MK4 Cobra kit car. All parts were made on a Grizzly G0602 bench top metal lathe or Precision Matthews PM-30MV bench top metal mill. Custom parts made include:
* Custom air cleaner spacer ring to clear carburetor
* Custom offset dowel to correct a cracked engine block
* DIY Camshaft bearing driver
* DIY Water jacket core plug driver / Camshaft core plug driver
* DIY PVC rear main seal driver
* Magnetic wheel alignment gauge mount
* Rear rotor spacer bushings
* Engine pulley brackets / spacers
* Harbor Freight purple spray gun modification to shoot primer
* Distributor machining for block clearance
* Master cylinder caps
* Battery cutoff switch bezel
* Timing cover dipstick plug
* Relay gauge backing plate
* Water neck modification for improved radiator cap seating
* Emergency brake cable crimp tubes
* Fuel filter mounting bracket
* Broken exhaust stud extraction from cylinder head
* Alternator belt tensioning bracket
* Trunk prop rod bracket and seat
* Acrylic fuse box cover
Also in this video a 6061 billet aluminum battery hold down bracket is machined start to finish.
The goal of this video is to show how valuable machining equipment can be when problem solving mechanical issues, especially those found during a typical Factory Five kit car build. Авто/Мото
Beautiful Work
Well done thanks for sharing
Very creative and excellent presentation on what a person can do with the right equipment.
Thanks for posting this. I have the same space problem with my low ceiling garage. I had not yet considered desk top solutions. Good to know that the part quality is still there.
All very good stuff mate
Thank you for these vids
They are very helpful
Thanks much / i'm glad you find them useful!
Awesome video.. more please
I'm looking forward to spring so i can get some clips of it on the road- thanks for the compliment and stay tuned!
The 2 things I wanted to see was only covered for 2.3 seconds. The prop rod and acrylic fuse box cover. My 🐢 build.
hey Todd - you fabricating some parts for a build?
TacoJoe yes. I’m planning on not using the FFR gas hood strut. I do want to use aluminum hood and trunk props including brackets. Great build videos by the way 👍
Thazz putty cool !
Very nice work Taco Joe. Its awesome to watch what a craftsman can build with the right machinery. I feel a little guilty about the ol wedge the battery in with a chunk of 2x4 on my woods truck now.
Thanks John / if it’s any consolation, my Corvette battery is currently held in place with bungee cords - should probably fix that :)
@@TacoJoe I have 1 vehicle that is all stock and right, everything else gets duct tape and zip ties.
Zip ties = Top 5 tool for me :)
