Arnel Pineda was CHOSEN! coz has his own style... can sing anything from any band. And no doubt that he is now rocking the entire world with the journey. The former vocalists are long gone from the band. Arnel is not trying to replace anyone, Steve Perry or Augeri or sotto. it just so happened that the band needed someone who fits the title as their new member or vocalist . So live with it!

He has brought true and NEW life back to the band that was certain floundering when SP left !! He saved Journey --- as if NO Journey band is around doing shows/concerts-- the song dies along with the band as it happened to other popular bands around !! AP is not trying to be SP--- but he has to do his work as required when he was recruited --to sing exactly the Journey songs--to continue its legacy for years---and he did !! Journey rocks!!! No Haggardfan, Steve won't be laughing. Instead he'll be amazed how much the Arnel retained the legacy sound with all those running, jumping, turning and clapping. Steve sound i agree was best esp. wheel in the sky but that belongs to my parents generation. I like the current journey sound more faster,rougher and masculine. Ever since Steve Perry has been absent from Journey, they (the remaining members) have only replaced the lead vocal with a Steve Perry sound-alike ever since. Journey is now the ultimate Steve Perry tribute band! Bring back Gregg Rolie and his Hammond B3 and lead vocals and bring back Steve Perry and his lead vocals...also bring back Aynsley Dunbar or Steve Smith too. This band has really hit a all time low with this line-up...too bad!

Guess you underestimated Arnel's stamina. He might look small but he is durable. He'd been singing songs of different singers/bands since he was a kid. Some of those singers/bands have more difficult, throat-cutting songs than Journey. He even had substance abuse issue and too much alcohol intake problem before but still he was able to come back to singing. He even got asthma and yet survived Journey tours for over 10 years now while doing his own concerts during his time off..so yeah, Arnel is durable like no other. Maybe this is one of the reasons why Journey kept him this long..

How well did u know AP? you can visit AP on his own rock cafe bar in the Philippines if you want to find out what u are telling about him. SP & AP have different type level of voice..if you are a music lover you will see their differences. AP has more masculine hard rock voice while SP has soft & feminine rock voice but i like them both and theres no argue with that..and both of them have different form of performance in stage.
