missing big opportunity here, in addition to wearing a branded shirt of a repair company, getting a mask that has a repair company(i.e. otis) logo printed onto it makes you look extremely official, and credentials may not be needed.
Realizing that even knowing the rules to the game... I'd probably still be gamed. I'm just an armchair enthusiast in this realm, but enjoy learning and content that leaves me thinking long after I'm done watching. Thanks!
I’m glad you recognize you aren’t infallible, many people think that they are impervious to social engineering because they are aware of the techniques!
white can also be just as good as black in facial recognition obfuscation depending on factors like material, shape of mask, and reflectivity of light. while most wear cloth masks, hardshell masks, respirators and even various types of face shields have advantages. there is a a kit made for chainsaw ppe that incorporates a construction hard hat, face shield (which can be tinted) and fold-up ear protection. hiding the shape of ears also obscures certain detection. but the context of the situation would certainly dictate what to wear.
If youre in the flyover states i think, regardless of their stance on masks, most people will view you as an outsider because of those stories. Perhaps this was different when this video was produced, but i dont really think so. Most of us mind our own business and realize that both of those "teams" are detrimental to a cohesive, functional society. Its weird to me as well that so many people in the privacy industry think that your medical history should be available to any individual
I'm loving these social engineering videos! I like all your content, but content about social engineering is more generally scarce. I haven't seen any around other than yours, and I look forward to seeing more of it.
I only watch these videos for fun, but I'm so glad that I checked your channel out after DeviantOllam recommended it. I'd thought about the potential for using masks in social engineering, and I love the breakdown you did on it.
For future videos i might suggest having a challenge included. Maybe pretexting and using a strangers cell phone to call a specific number, etc. Show some techniques and encourage people to try these themselves to develop their skills
Excellent. Lots of places now with human security officers checking badges dont have you remove the mask. No way to confirm the ID of the masked individual
I'm still surprised that the TSA ID checkers at airport security lines don't ask people to take 2 or 3 steps back before removing their mask, so that the TSA can compare faces against the photo ID.
@@amihirata Do you think they can help you gain entry by being a guy who was successfully screened? It seems like it may give you some implicit legitimacy for entry since you just got your temperature scanned, and the person doing the scanning has some level of authority.
Oh definitely, I think that can be a vector to exploit, it lends a little bit of an air of credibility that you belong there once you’ve been “scanned”
A hard hat with a protective face shield with polarizing film might also defeat facial recognition and won't draw much attention under the right circumstances. Most security cameras have a polarizing filter to minimize glare and the shield disrupts the view. And nobody asks questions about the guy with a weed eater right next to a building and able to look into windows, or walking along a fence and able to examine locks. 5:24 just want to say I experienced more pro markers going out of their way to chastize people, but I definitely used a mask when buying tannerite despite thinking masks are pointless, because I enjoyed the elevated level of privacy from it. I would wear the full body hijab thing time to time if it becomes popular enough in my area to grant privacy, also imagine, male guards cannot search you, and you can hide so many tools etc under it without it printing on your clothes
6:26 ...or he could use a simple surgicl mask because they fog prescription lenses less than other models. Be sure not to read TOO much into such things.
"Wear a mask, comrade" 😆
I was having too much fun in the edit 😂
I would love to see an extended look at conflict de-escalation, or even purposeful, controlled escalation!

What a true unique take on mask wearing,a year ago walking into a bank with a mask one would possibly be stopped by security now
its a requirement.
These paradigm shifts are exactly the thing a good social engineer can leverage to get to places they shouldn’t be!

The use of hard masks also reduces the ability of FR to use your cheekbones and jawline to help identify, definitely useful!

That’s a good idea, maybe I’ll start a social engineering series similar to my OSINT series!
@@amihirata osint series on this channel?
Yep, I have a playlist set up for it too, it’s aimed toward beginners and covers introductory topics but it has lessons and challenges in each video
@@amihirata what's the name of the Playlist I wanna watch
Honestly I've already started thinking about things like this, and a lot of this is confirmation of perception. Good video!
Excellent. Lots of places now with human security officers checking badges dont have you remove the mask. No way to confirm the ID of the masked individual
That’s a great point too, the fact that people aren’t checking faces so much as badges makes fakes much easier to produce!

Good thoughts. Carry more than a single mask... or scope your target, and wear a similar mark to start a conversation.
Someone should make some red face masks that say "RED TEAM" on them.
whats your thoughts on using the temperature testing people to assist getting in?
In which regard?

Thoughts on the digital pattern masks for tripping up facial recognition
From what I've read they're effective. That being said to the people who know what they are they make you much more overt.
@@amihirata thanks, my reason is not to hide but corrupt my data trail. With digital id almost on us im looking at passive counter measures.
Yeah, I do agree. I was thinking about this recently. It's a great new tool.
7:05 what's the bottom right mask stands for?
It's a "thin blue line" mask supporting police officers.
very well dissected
Quality content
I just like the masks because I can stick my tongue out at people without them noticing
@Daniel - That's a glass half full approach. Good work.
I use masks as underwear for a similar reason. My glass is completely full.
the fuc*
Not gonna lie you have gotten better at the presentation on these videos. I think you did this Maskterfully... (sorry)

I've found that a hardhat, safety vest, jeans and steel toes can get you many places you shouldnt be. Overtly covert

i will only wear a mask if i can walk naked
