It's an inspiration to those of us that have these cars to see others hanging on to them also. And they don't have to be stripped down -- original condition is just fine. ----------- Thanks for the Tour ---- Rodney
Back in sixties my older first cousin had one of these. It was beautiful. Then a couple years later a different first cousin bought one. It was beautiful also. They were different two-tones.
In my younger years of the 60s, I've always loved the 56 Pontiacs and owned half dozen or so, all were hard top starchiefs lather interior, never had a blue one though, very nice automobile and great sound... Hungry for another 56 now and always have my eyes open for one! Thanks for sharing!
That's nice i bought the same color 56 star chief 5 months ago. Its good to see others and hear stories about them. Ive never seen or heard of a star chief until i bought one. Thanks for sharing. I have 2 switches under the dash that i had no clue of what they were for but you just showed me one is for power antenna witch has been charged. The other one is to the left of the ignition switch. Thats still a mystery.
I’m amazed with the restoration of that radio! It sounds great, too. I like other projects in which the electro-mechanical rear seat reverb are also refurbished and used. That’s RUclips subject matter in itself, right there. Mahalo to your friend for sharing his Pontiac with us. As always, mahalo to you for sharing yours. One of my uncles here in Hawai’i had a ‘40s vintage Pontiac, but the salt water out here rusts everything away from those decades. Take care.
How many don’t know that when the engine is off in a fifty’s GM cars with no “park” position on the automatic transmission selector, that reverse has a parking paw?
Oh WOW, like I commented before I had a 56 Chieftan. It was the same color as Craig's. I bought it when I was a junior in HS in 1963 for $395. It was like new. The interior was great and I loved it. All my schoolmates had mid 50's cars. My engine in her was not so good. Every oil seal leaked and she smoked tons. It did not when I first got it.. I only had it for 7 months and started haveing trouble keeping it running. So, I traded. Can you imagine a kid trying to buy a 2015 car today using only what he saved from a part time job ! Does Craig have a channel ?
We’ll I had a 56 Canadian Pontiac that’s on a Chevy frame not like yours on a Buick frame. So I had a 396 that needed a rebuilt which I put a L88 cam in it but had to sell the motor so I could go to Printing school. So I put my 301 done out of my 55 Chevy and raced it and was stolen and strip and burned. You’ll never see another Laurention Pontiac ever as mine was a 2 door hardtop. 😂

Your Pontiac Looks Like It's In Pretty Good Shape On The Surface. BUT,. DESPERATLY Needs A New Paint Job, Instead Of Looking Like An Old Weathered Knunker Going Down The Road. But What's It Like Underneath ??? The Short View Of The Radiator Looks Like Its Decomposing, And It Also Looks LOWERED, That Effects The Geometry Of The Cars Handling If You Use It As A "Driver". Making The Car Look TIRED, And Can Cause Road SCRAPING Going Over Some Railroad Crossings And Angled Upward Streets And Driveways. I Took The Lowering Blocks OFF Of My 50-Merc When I Finished Restoring It, And Had It Aligned Properly For MUCH BETTER Handling... I Don't Even Have To Go To Car Shows To Have People Circling Around My ORIGINAL Merc When I Go To The Supermarket Or Get Gas, And They Want To Stop And Ask Me About The Car...

I actually didn't know that until starting to mess around with these older type of vehicles.
Imagine-Chevys were still at 265 cubic inches while these Ponchos were already at 316....and 347 in 1957.
