It's so sad that school just destroys your passion. I went to an art school für 6 months, but I realised after 2 months that I just want to leave it again. Drawing and being creative was fun before, but when I was forced to do it, I hated it. Like so much. I miss drawing but there's still this kind of bad memory and feeling I get when I think about it. It's a shame.
I wish my art teacher had explained what we actually had to do. Like I just remember drawing whatever I could because we were never told the specification. Got a B in the end and I’m not surprised because I had so little in comparison to all the work A* students did. I think there was only 2 of us in the class who got a B and no one got higher. Schools just don’t care anymore.
Freya Tc luckily my art teacher sat down with us each lesson and explained everything as well as evaluating our work. She also taught us colour theory and some other important stuff.
Freya Tc Yh it’s crazy schools (I only know of schools in England doing this not sure about anywhere else) are actually starting to stop teaching what they refer to as the ‘creative’ subjects so in my school they stopped teaching dance and next it’ll either be music, drama or art. There reason behind it is the board of education don’t have a lot of money so they are cutting back on subjects that (in their words) are less important.
I find it weird how you got A* with little to none annotations, our art teacher tells us that if we dont explain experiments , intentions, how it relates to the artist and some other stuff then the highest grade we could get is about a 6 (B but in the new grading system) no matter how good the artwork is. Also our teacher told us it is a must to have an artist for every topic which you didnt seem to do very clearly. Not hating or anything as the art is amazing and I would give it top grades myself, but Im just curious as to how it got A* when it doesnt fit the criterias we were taught that clearly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (Im talking about the GCSEs not A Level )
That's what I thought! I have so many artist pages just talking on and on about the artists who inspired my work and they're so boring. My book would be so much nicer if I didn't have to write about them
Only recently the exam board decided that anotations were just as important as the skills. I am doing gcse art now and compared to my cousin's gcse art curriculum from 5 years ago, they have really stepped it up with the work load. It's ridiculous.
Apparently on the official marking guide lines all you have to actually write is a sentence about the particular artist if it’s an artist study and you don’t have to write all that much for designs either in fact my teacher tells us specifically to write as little as possible because the examiner rarely reads it they just want to look at what looks good and prefer to know what materials you use so like labels for materials and stuff yeah I don’t know if mark schemes are different in different schools but I assume not so yeah
My art is soooo boring right now. We're just drawing a teddy bear this year and have to start from the very Very VERY start.. yay... School destroys your interests in it when you're forced to do it
my school is actually very creative. they say “the theme is an object that can’t move, you can do whatever you want as long as you study it and you can do any art style”
My GCSE art teacher ignored me for 8 months but I still managed to get into a level. And I love it so much because art is the only thing I love enough to keep a passion for while perusing it as a career/education.
Caityb X hey have you picked your subjects yet? because I need to tell you you have GOT to do art for GCSE! if you have a passion for it please do, I just finished it and I loved it.
O.M.G!!!! 😮😮😮😮 your art work is amazing as so much better than mine by far! This is like A******* 😂 I took art as a gcse so I can relate to how boring it gets. I had to do a whole year of plants and trees 🙄 I wish I could draw portraits but I cannot even draw any feature to save my life 😅 this was such a cool idea and was really interesting to see your artwork xx
VipersArtFX I’ve only just started so I’m not sure what to expect in the coming months, but right now my biggest tip would be to try and finish work at every opportunity you get. Every lunch time when I have art homework I go in the art room and do it, it’s handy because then I get to use their supplies and I also have a really good bond with my teacher now
Caityb X if you enjoy it, take it. It’s not hard to pass either my art teacher said that if you complete all you work then that is an easy pass, just depends on how much detail is in your work
Omg I’m doing art GCSEs right now and we have to include so much about the artist, copying their work, writing about them. We also have to write about our art a lot more then you did.
I can't believe how harsh you are on yourself, these are some of the best drawings I've ever seen! I hope you fall back in love with it sometime, it's a shame that school's made you hate it!
Thnk u for showing this being truthful abt how even tho other artist rave abt the passion burning in our souls. Sometimes it just burns out for a while. Its not gone. It just need time to rekindle again. CANT WAIT TO SEE WAT U DO NXT 🤗😘
I love how you're so casual about your drawings haha. I had the exact same thing where I lost interest in drawing bc it felt more like a chore, and im also more of a pencil person but ofc you had to "experiment" lol. Totally get your attitude while explaining your art. They are really amazing tho!!
Elja Bos I’m deciding whether to take art for GCSE because I love art but i see people saying it’s too hard and they regret it so what’s your opinion. X
As soon as you got to the Halsey art work- let me just tell you, I love you. I’m legit going to try do your art, not all of it. Your my artist assessment😂❤️
I love all of your artwork! My favourite piece is probably your final piece of Joey, but I really love your Halsey ones and just- all of them are so good!
Thank you a lot for this video, I’m doing igcse now and we have a new project about portraiture and I had no idea of how to start with a portrait, what to add and how will I get inspiration or ideas for it and your video just really helped to get my thoughts straight :)
ahh this takes me back to when i first subbed to you and i'd get so excited when you posted an art related video,, all your work is so good + i'm about to go on to that kinda level art next year so this video was really interesting to me ilyyy
Ahhh i just loved this video so so much! I'm amazed by your art, and i actually really liked the project you got a B on! That one and the hasley one were my favourites x... I also for some reason recognised a lot of these pieces like the ones of your dad, halsey and joey...I think it's from your old videos/Tumblr/Instagram/Twitter...
Damn this makes me wish I could draw! I love all of these ESPECIALLY the Halsey ones! If you still have your photography work i'd love to see that to x
Omg your artwork is literally insane! even the ones you said you weren't so bothered about in your last project are brilliant, crazy jealous of your talent. especially love the Halsey portraits ❤️
Very interesting video! You have such a talent I can't wait for you to start up again- I'm doing my GCSE atm so was looking for some inspo and tips and defo found it tysm!!
Half of our art subject is just writing now And no way you got B on that, it was so goooood!!!!!! Not to say my favourite! Don't mind me but just gonna pinch some inspiration :D
(GCSE)I’m super surprised how you had no writing ,with us you’d get a c and under with no writing and research,we have writing upon writing and analysis with everything we do ,i’d also think that you’d do more art as well in the course but your art is very good
Really enjoyed seeing all of your work! I’m a studio art major so it’s interesting to see how different it is. The amount of work and drawing you had to do for your projects reminds me of what I saw my friends in high school doing for college credit. Your work is absolutely amazing though! Hope you get back into art in the future because it’s definitely something you are talented at. 😊
I love art, and my teacher is always encouraging me to do it for my GCSE’s however I heard it was very time consuming. For me, art takes along time to do and I’m worried I won’t concentrate on my main subjects and get bad marks on them. But wow these are amazing!! This deserves beyond A*!
Mahisha Maniseharan Its not overly time consuming depending on what teacher you get! It really depends on whether you're happy with what you're doing now or want to improve. It really depends. I was also worried about losing concentration on my other subjects, but I found that having something to look forward to helped my grades improve
For art there is obviously a lot of work, but if you stay on top of it and make sure you get work in on deadlines it’s honestly manageable and it’s nice to get to the end of the year and not have to revise for another subject💗
I always see A* Level artwork on the third floor of my school. It’s really incredible, sometimes when I have classes on the third floor, I take like 2 minutes to look at them. Your artwork was amazing!!!! I wish my school had artwork like yours though. 😮💗💗
So talented! I felt exactly the same during a-level art - the pressure and lack of freedom really took the enjoyment out of it for me. I've slowly just started to re-discover a love for art again, one day I hope you can too xx
Gcse art is so much better than Leaving cert art in Ireland, we literally get a booklet and have to do still life drawings which is so much harder cause i want to do themes based on real animals but no we have to bring in stuffed toys and all that and we cant copy anything online:( x
natural form is one of the topics in this years art GCSE so thanks so much for uploading this because it gives a lot of insight and ideas for different designs and topics to study
I really love doing art outside of school, and im actually quite good with the mediums and styles I use, however, I always seem to get low marks in art at school. I going to be choosing my GCSE's soon, but im not sure if I want to do art. I want to learn more, but I think it would take the fun away from it. Seeing this has helped, because I realised maybe I should just stick to doing it at home in my own time.
Watched the whole thing and got so inspired by your art💖 its amazing!! And as an (kinda) artist I understand you complitely... But hope to see new art from you in the future if u get into it again~ :)
In my opinion the workload for A Level is really necessary and in a way a good thing because you NEED to do loads of experiments so your work can grow along with your style. A lot of the projects too are quite flexible and adaptable, not black and white as some people seem to see them as
Oml you're work is so amazing it just makes me feel depressed looking back at my gcse art work i finished last week XD I really want to take Alevel Art because i really do enjoy it but it becomes annoying and tiresome sometimes plus my parents are against the idea of art and creativity but prefer maths, science etc.. (things i can't do) any advice? Thanks x
I wasn't really planning to watch the entire thing but then I got lost in the video and finished it and I'm glad I did because it was truly amazing. I also love art too so this video gave me inspiration 💖
Wowww these are incredible! You seriously are so talented with art, it's such a shame you lost interest but A levels definitely do take enjoyment out of the things you love which is so rubbish, but hopefully over time you'll get back into it again because I'd love to see it! I remember when you drew 5SOS and 1D back in the day and they saw them awh haha how time flies x
Daaamn GCSE's were the days. Drawing random shit, messing in class and still getting an A* lmao But how come u have little to no annotation?🤔 Then A level....omfg i hated it. Teachers didnt know what tthey were doing and i had no creative decision. Luckily i got an A by asking the exam board for advice lmao I also didnt learn a single thing from the teachers 😂 art teachers have it easy (well the ones from my old school anyway) they just sit on their ass and order us what to do smh I wanted to do animations but lost all drive cause of them.
@@aron6815 oh that was a fast reply lol so u took art in alevels too? I am in Alevels but not sure wht degree program to go in , is it too late to apply rn 😟
Aena Mustafa ye I took art in a level too, wasn’t the deadline in January? Even if it was you can take a gap year to focus on yourself, maybe get a part time job, travel and try to find your passion
I LOVE this! As an art student myself I know how hard it can be sometimes to "create on command", it's so much nicer when you're doing what you want when you want it, that mandatory things can make you hate it! And being experimental is fun, but I also always went back to realistic portraits in pencil xD
Thank you! This helped me a lot! You gave me inspiration and ideas and I am planning on doing Art for my GCSES.. You are incredible, carry on inspiring and don't stop doing what's right for you! 😍😍😍😍😍😱
It was really interesting to see how far you've become with your drawing skills because I discoverd you when ashton I think(?) posted your drawing of michael on his twitter :D Anyway great video and you're really talented, hopefully you'll decide to draw again on some day!
Your work is amazing. I feel like this was really relatable. I had an A* at GCSE art. I did it for AS but now dropped it in year 2 because the pressure and stress was just making me hate it. This video has made me want to just get back into drawing at some point
this is actually so helpful because im considering taking art for a level but i get hella stressed now so im debating whether its worth it, did you think it was worth it?
I love art but I can’t make myself draw if I don’t have any inspiration or will to do it. Its too frustrating for me if I don’t get the drawing right. It takes a lot of patience and I know, I don’t have that. And when my art teacher told me I shouldn’t be lazy back then. Its just really hard to concentrate and I got even lazier. The passion wasn’t there anymore.... did you get that kind of feeling? You just completely gave up on it cos LIFE happens.
Anna Dixon this was an older version of GCSEs where you didn’t have to do all the writing , but now it’s so so much harder and you have to do way more :(
It's so sad that school just destroys your passion. I went to an art school für 6 months, but I realised after 2 months that I just want to leave it again. Drawing and being creative was fun before, but when I was forced to do it, I hated it. Like so much. I miss drawing but there's still this kind of bad memory and feeling I get when I think about it. are you german?
Yes.
That's how I feel sometimes right now doing A Level art
Melissa B. That litrally sums up everything😂🙏
Yeah, I remember loving art when I was little but school absolutely just ruined it for me
I wish my art teacher had explained what we actually had to do. Like I just remember drawing whatever I could because we were never told the specification. legit I went from a high A down to a B for my mock cause they don't care or teach us how now ffs
Freya Tc
Same but she gave me an E in my mock.
Freya Tc bullshit , my fucking school cares too much. your teacher was just shit let’s face it
Freya Tc Yh it’s crazy schools (I only know of schools in England doing this not sure about anywhere else) are actually starting to stop teaching what they refer to as the ‘creative’ subjects so in my school they stopped teaching dance and next it’ll either be music, drama or art. Damn gcse art is very different now
They're changing everything now😣 even a lever specifications
its really not
smooop it really is go away
Ikr. It is food, food and more food in my school. Only a few weeks in and I'm already attempting to drop art
smooop it is. Everything is harder
sophie this is incredible!!
Thank you Soph! X
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
sophdoesnails u should do this video soph x
this is like that obama meme where he puts a medal on himself
When she says her drawings are "awful" it makes me look at mines differently than before lmaoo
same ...
Pauline Jolly do you do a level? Does it matter if you’re not very good?
hope you re-discover a passion for it once more someday because you're super talented. Thanks for sharing
The portraits of Joey are REALLY good! As well as all the Halsey stuff 👌✨
Awh thank you very much! X

What my art teacher said was that if your artwork is self-explanatory, you dont necessarily have to make notes on it...🙃
Apparently on the official marking guide lines all you have to actually write is a sentence about the particular artist if it’s an artist study and you don’t have to write all that much for designs either in fact my teacher tells us specifically to write as little as possible because the examiner rarely reads it they just want to look at what looks good and prefer to know what materials you use so like labels for materials and stuff yeah I don’t know if mark schemes are different in different schools but I assume not so yeah
I think it is stupid how students need to explain every little thing. You shouldn't need to explain inspiration.
My art is soooo boring right now. We're just drawing a teddy bear this year and have to start from the very

hello army
I agreeee
my school is actually very creative. they say “the theme is an object that can’t move, you can do whatever you want as long as you study it and you can do any art style”
Love your pic and your username
I'm drawing boxes and a giant ball
we love a creative queen
I try x
My GCSE art teacher ignored me for 8 months but I still managed to get into a level. And I love it so much because art is the only thing I love enough to keep a passion for while perusing it as a career/education.
This is so self-deprecating it hurts
I know exactly how you feel, the way art works in a level was not creative or anything its just forceful work
Seyda I’m deciding whether to take art for GCSE because I love art but i see people saying it’s too hard and they regret it so what’s your opinion. X

Alicia .you’ll be fine doing GCSE
wow you’re so lucky you didn’t have to do the amount of writing we do now in GCSE art like there is so much you have to do it’s unreal
Your eyeshadow looks so good!!👏🏻
love the joey final piece, the way its laid out gives it a kind of glitchy vibe
Our school was so shitty I did half of my art coursework in an A5 book 😂
I swear I can’t believe you got an A* in gcse Art it’s so much harder now damn

WOOOW this makes me want to get back into drawing! Nothing like academic study to make you lose a passion for something haha
Stop being humble 😉 your artwork is amazing!
THE HALSEY WORK IS INSANE 😍😍😍

Omg I’m doing art GCSEs right now and we have to include so much about the artist, copying their work, writing about them. We also have to write about our art a lot more then you did.

Drawing random shit, messing in class and still getting an A* lmao
But how come u have little to no annotation?🤔
Then A level....omfg i hated it. Teachers didnt know what tthey were doing and i had no creative decision. Luckily i got an A by asking the exam board for advice lmao
I also didnt learn a single thing from the teachers 😂 art teachers have it easy (well the ones from my old school anyway) they just sit on their ass and order us what to do smh
I wanted to do animations but lost all drive cause of them.
Hey so wht did u do in uni? Wht degree and uni?
@@aron6815 oh that was a fast reply lol so u took art in alevels too? I am in Alevels but not sure wht degree program to go in , is it too late to apply rn 😟
Aena Mustafa ye I took art in a level too, wasn’t the deadline in January? Even if it was you can take a gap year to focus on yourself, maybe get a part time job, travel and try to find your passion
I thought that the title of this video was 'my ass artwork' but then later realised it was A star
It was really interesting to see how far you've become with your drawing skills because I discoverd you when ashton I think(?) posted your drawing of michael on his twitter :D
Anyway great video and you're really talented, hopefully you'll decide to draw again on some day!
Now I'm curious how you and joey became closer to actually you two dating 😁
Ps. I love your art 💖
Your work is amazing. I feel like this was really relatable. I had an A* at GCSE art. I did it for AS but now dropped it in year 2 because the pressure and stress was just making me hate it. This video has made me want to just get back into drawing at some point
So gorgeous it’s unreal!😩
this is actually so helpful because im considering taking art for a level but i get hella stressed now so im debating whether its worth it, did you think it was worth it?
It’s a lot of pressure and stress but that was for me who did 3 coursework based subjects
LOL My preference is also pencil hahaha
Omg! You're so talented! Hope you continue drawing 😍
You're honestly so talented, the Halsey work is absolutely amazing.😍😍
I love art but I can’t make myself draw if I don’t have any inspiration or will to do it. Its too frustrating for me if I don’t get the drawing right. It takes a lot of patience and I know, I don’t have that. And when my art teacher told me I shouldn’t be lazy back then. Its just really hard to concentrate and I got even lazier. The passion wasn’t there anymore.... did you get that kind of feeling? You just completely gave up on it cos LIFE happens.
I’m so confused, where’s the annotation?
Anna Dixon this was an older version of GCSEs where you didn’t have to do all the writing , but now it’s so so much harder and you have to do way more :(
The drawings look so good and realistic . i didn't expect this!
Omg I love this video it is one of my favourites of yours. You are so talented I wish my art could be that good. Amazing! :) x
