Carlisle is the top PDM in my opinion. The complement factor is higher with Layton, but I don't care. Carlisle is rich, deep, not-too-sweet perfection.

I talked to a fragrance salesperson the other day and told me PDM has been doing well since RUclips and Tiktok. He feels people are so easily influenced. LOL! He is right. I wonder how much Ashton gets paid to hype certain fragrances.

several years late to the party here but Carlisle is incredible. this year was the year where I went from deigner to high end designer and then to niche. PDM is my brand of choice. Current favs 1 Haltane 2 Layton 3 Carlisle 4 Kalan (honestly, grew on me in a short period of time)
Kalan grew on me rapidly also , I have kalan layton Carlisle and oajan I'm having trouble buying Haltane. I was like you I moved from high end designer onto niche I would never go back now
Carlisle is my favourite PdM scent, it’s delicious imo. Herod goes really sour on my skin so I’m not a fan despite tobacco being my favourite fragrance note. I also really enjoy Pegasus and Oajan in the winter. Great review! 👍

I really appreciate the reviews and insight into these fragrances. It helps take a lot of the guess work out of my purchases.

I went to a PDM event at Osme Perfumery last February coming away liking Carlisle, Herod & Layton. Afterwards I purchased decants of both Herod and Carlisle. On cooler days I seem to reach for Carlisle the most which will probably be my bottle purchase. They both are so closely alike that I wouldn't by bottles of both. As for Layton, I recently purchased the Alexandria's inspired expression called Royal Equestrian. This is so close to Layton that I won't ever be purchasing a bottle. Carlisle is 🔥
I agree with you about the first 10 minutes or so of this fragrance. It's also strange how this changes so much over time. The dry down is almost chocolatey to me, very creamy, but the opening is quite spicey.
The drydown for fragrance is amazing however I don't love the opening at all .. it reminds me of prunes for some reason . I'm glad it changes so drastically

This one is great and suits me well for the cooler/colder temps. I can wear this one with a leather jacket or dressed up . . . especially around the Autumn and Winter holiday's. Layton is my ATF!! I just finished trying PDM Discovery Kit + Kalan samples (2) + Sedley sample. I plan on buying full bottle of Layton and Pegasus. I already have travel size of Layton Exclusif. I am receiving a sample of Carlisle tomorrow from LS.
The only PDM fragrance I have is Herod, and I love it. It's like the best of YSL Tuxedo plus a bonus depth that says masculine but sweet. When James Bond sat down to play poker in Casino Royale, I bet he was wearing Herod.

I just recently acquired Carlisle. It is everything it is hyped up to be and is therefore one of, if not THE flagship scent from PdM. It is absolutely one of my top!
If you’re into designers I’d say go for Layton over Carlisle. This is very niche imo whereas Layton is more of a gateway fragrance for those moving into niche style frags. I bought a 10ml of this a few years ago and I’ve only used half of it. Definitely not a teenager fragrance, very masculine

Blind bought Carlisle after looking at MANY RUclips video’s and multiple reviews and I am super happy with the purchase. It’s definitely a winter/fall fragrance but I only need 2 sprays and it lasts me all day.
LOL! But in reality most people don't like that scent on people. However, most people like Kalan on men. That's why I don't listen to fragrance reviewers. I watch them to find out about fragrances I've never heard of, but don't really care for their opinion.

Please do a review on Kenzo Homme. It’s one of the most unique and fresh scents out there. I haven’t seen any reviewer in the community talk about it. This one deserves some attention.
I ordered (samples) Percival, Pegasus, Habdan, Herod, Oajan, Delina, Layton, Layton exclusif, Carlisle... All these frangrances are OVERHYPED. Don't believe the hype. I have a big family and many friends, I had them smell these fragrances... None of these fragrances induced the reaction I had with dolce & gabbana The One or YSL la nuit de l'homme. These fragrances (parfum de marly) are way too gourmand and feminine. If u like to walk around smelling like a tiramisu or an applepie full of cinamon, these fragrances may be for u... Also, Herod smells exactly like rochas men but 6 times more expensive... Layton exclusif smells like the room of an old woman, full of incense. I even bought Delina cause Demi Rawling sold me a dream (fragrance for women), this fragrance can't compare to the Chanel N°5, J'adore de Dior, ... The only positive point I have to concede is that the performance is REALLY on point. Even after taking a shower, u can still smell the motherf******. If affiliate marketing didn't exist, I doubt these would have had that much hype... I'm disappointed but happy ath the same time cause not gonna have to spend my money on a +200 euros fragrances. Don't invest your money in that sh*t...Don't be a fragrance snob, there is absolutely no difference between designer and niche except the performance but it's not worth 5-6 times the price...
In terms of just enjoying how they smell my favorite PDMs are Layton and Kalan. Layton's got a nice combo of fruitiness and freshness and Kalan almost smells like some sort of delicious citrus curry dish. Sorry to hear you didn't like Kalan; it's one of my favorites!
My only issue with Carlisle is I go noseblind to it within an hour and as far as the wearer is concerned you have to lowkey smell your shirt to get it after a while, however, other people can smell you for a pretty long time.
I wasn't a fan of the opening it wasn't bad but I was underwhelmed due to the hype but in the dry down is where this shines. I got a leather Amber from the opening but it settled down very nice to a vanilla and nice spice.
This is my favorite fragrance I own. I wear this to work twice a week... because I work remote, so it's just me and the dog. Seriously, on my skin the projection is 3 ft.+, and it lasts 12 hours on my skin, and 3+ days on whatever shirt collar I spray it on. The opening is too smoky for me, but that's gone in a minute or two. After 10 minutes it's simply fantastic, and the longer it's there, the better it gets. 6 hours in, it's hard to keep from sniffing my arm like a lunatic. I do smell the rose, but it's completely underpinned by the patchouli-tonka-vanilla combination that smells... expensive.
01 Layton- because it's perfection ... unique .. fantastic , fresh... when i smell it ... gives me kind of a "mmmmmm " reaction it's 9/10 for me 02 Haban - because its defferent, and when it hits the drydown .. its woahhh.. and its not as expensive 03 Carlislle - well, its a beast but it opens up like a few other pdm fragrances.. its not as unique but it is the best from the rest 04 Percival - well mainly because its sweet fresh .. and the first day i wore it at my university .. i got 4 complements in witch one was from girl that just walked by
Hey Ashton! I have a doubt regarding the cap of carlisle? I have got a carlisle where the presentation and batch code looks all right. But two issues : Cap of my Carlisle is different from that of my Herod and Oajan bottle. In the case of my Herod and Oajan, I need to put some effort to remove the cap from the bottle , this is not the case with my Carlisle bottle. Second issue: Smell doesn't change much and projection is very poor after 30mins. Remains as a faint skin scent for another 6 hours! Could you please tell me about the cap of your carlisle bottle!
I’ve smelled the entire line many times. Carlisle is the best to me, but older bottles of Herod compete. Layton Exclusif if you don’t mind the harshness is also quite nice. Gives me a headache tho
How long should a bottle of this last before going bad? I know some may get better over time. Pdm says three years. I was gonna buy a used bottle from someone that is 1.5 yr since first spray.
Yeah just tried this one after buying Layton. Not sure what you guys were smelling. But it made everyone at the store nauseous. Everytime someone smelled it they felt sick.
Interestingly, Carlisle on my skin IS more of a fruity floral scent... at least in the opening. There are so many nuances to it that in my estimation, it's actually overly complex and not earthy or woody enough, and I dislike it for that reason, but I know I'm in a minority here. But it just doesn't work for me, plus my wife hates it on my skin. For me, it suffers from the problem of being all things to all people, and not picking one specific direction. Try before you buy for sure.
Carlisle is probably the best PDM with layton and herod closely following behind..i enjoy herod also i spray it on my wrist just to sniff it..only if the longevity would have been like carlisle..
Carlisle was the first sample from PDM that I smelled. It was an instant love for me. I have several of their bottles and samples now.. 1. Herod 2a. Carlisle 2b. Layton 3. Oajan 4. Percival 5. Godolphin 6. Habdan
PDM is a bit expensive for me. I’ve only put my nose on three of them. Personally I’d rather wear Layton Exclusif than Layton. Layton Exclusif is darker on skin but it smells great. Layton smells darker and on skin it’s a similar thing. I’m getting now Herod and Carlisle, so cannot say anything yet. Great video, as usual!
All sents are unisex truly and honestly but we have developed a traditional way of use, I have only smell go dolphin I dont even know what it is but I think I love it!!
Got my PdM Layton from Fragrancenet and I am not smelling the same I smelled at the Nordstrom store. After two hours I can't smell it. Will be returning it. I've ordered Herod from FragranceX will see if it smell the same as the sample I got from Nordstrom.
Advice Please. I'm super new to paying attention to fragrances and in the past couple of weeks, find that i go nose blind to something i'm wearing quickly. I have this one coming in the mail tomorrow and was wondering, how many sprays of this should i use? It's right around Zero degrees celsius here in Toronto right now if That's a factor. Brand brand new to colognes but, i just had a gut feeling about this one getting a sense of it from reviewers such as yourself. Much Appreciated. Also, is it possible to put a fragrance on where the scent doesn't really seem all that fantastic yet, somehow makes you feel powerful? I grabbed a bunch of samples today from someone close and I swear, it's like a magic elixir but, i'm not head over heals from the actual scent. It's very strange and brand new to me.
I have a bottle of this and i do agree that this is a fruity floral. I find it very similar to Layton which i have as well and I think they are somewhat redundant of each other. Layton more on the oriental and smoky drydown while Carlisle more towards floral
carlisle is basically layton +herod+habdan mixed together as such you can be of two schools of thought A carlisle id awesome and if you have it you dont need the other three, actually there is no situation wherein one would rather wear any of those 3 instead of carlisle or B the exact opposite , i am on B team IMO carlisle is a derivative, uninspiring and redundant release , i prefer to have layton, herod and habdan and wear those separately instead of carlisle , as each of them is 1 more versitle/wearable and 2 more coherant as an idea with a distinct and unique character that said carlisle is much more cost-effective considering its 3 PDMs in one bottle,and it performs better than either of those 3 , at least on me , but it compromises on versatility, again from my perspective, its exclusively, or predominantly a winter and cold weather nights out , and formal occasion scent , its too strong and cloying for the fall, its not office-friendly , its too dark and resinous for casual use , for date its 50/50 if its too much or not i have to admit i love carlisle as a scent it does smell awesome but its not bottle/ buy worthy for me , i am much happier owning layton , herod and habdan instead of carlisle , and i really see no point or use for owning those 3 an carlisle together , but thats just me

Maybe I haven't given it enough time to evolve but it smells reminiscent of Tom Ford black orchid. To me black orchid smells better. It has that mysterious pop in it that Carlisle lacks.
I admittedly am new in my frag journy but i find the opening challenging. After a breif period the magic starts to happen. Edit: What is the deal with companies insisting that their are only two styles of fragrance, for women and unisex? I am a dude that has no reservations in being a dude. I am not apologetic about it nor do i see it as a problem. In fact just the opposite. I told myself i would not purchase a frags from brands that are ashamed if manhood but quickly realized i would limit myself to next to nothing. Love me some brands such as Rogue that understand the point of being a gentleman.

I just bought it. I’m not impressed. With all the hype I was expecting to be blown away. I was expecting something like Royal Oud from Creed. To me it’s green apple Jolly Rancher candy, vanilla, smoke, and patchouli. On the dry down I’m mostly getting smoke and patchouli. Ébène Fumé by Tom Ford is a much better smoky-resin fragrance.

It's interesting how in our community the PDM favorite seems to be shifting from Layton to Carlisle. I love both and most of their line.
For me its Carlisle, Pegasus and Kalan. Admittedly, I still have to smell a lot of their fragrances though.

I just received my bottle of Carlisle 🤔. I mean, its has a unique interesting smell. Personally Layton smell waaay better.
This is one of the best PDM. It has an absolutely beautiful creamy drydown.

Blind Bought Carlisle, I wish I could say I love it like everyone else. But I get a bunch of floral. Its uber disappointing for me...

I ordered (samples) Percival, Pegasus, Habdan, Herod, Oajan, Delina, Layton, Layton exclusif, Carlisle... All these frangrances are OVERHYPED. Don't believe the hype.
I have a big family and many friends, I had them smell these fragrances... None of these fragrances induced the reaction I had with dolce & gabbana The One or YSL la nuit de l'homme.
These fragrances (parfum de marly) are way too gourmand and feminine. If u like to walk around smelling like a tiramisu or an applepie full of cinamon, these fragrances may be for u... Also, Herod smells exactly like rochas men but 6 times more expensive... Layton exclusif smells like the room of an old woman, full of incense. I even bought Delina cause Demi Rawling sold me a dream (fragrance for women), this fragrance can't compare to the Chanel N°5, J'adore de Dior, ... The only positive point I have to concede is that the performance is REALLY on point. Even after taking a shower, u can still smell the motherf******. If affiliate marketing didn't exist, I doubt these would have had that much hype...
I'm disappointed but happy ath the same time cause not gonna have to spend my money on a +200 euros fragrances.
Don't invest your money in that sh*t...Don't be a fragrance snob, there is absolutely no difference between designer and niche except the performance but it's not worth 5-6 times the price...

Carlisle has taken over my #1 PDM spot, and I own 8! It's followed closely by Oajan, and Habdan.

In terms of just enjoying how they smell my favorite PDMs are Layton and Kalan. Layton's got a nice combo of fruitiness and freshness and Kalan almost smells like some sort of delicious citrus curry dish. Sorry to hear you didn't like Kalan; it's one of my favorites!

Will this work in a tropical country? I own a decant of Herod and I loved it but it seems that people prefer Carlisle over Herod.
My only issue with Carlisle is I go noseblind to it within an hour and as far as the wearer is concerned you have to lowkey smell your shirt to get it after a while, however, other people can smell you for a pretty long time.
That's really unfortunate, maybe you should spray it on your Adam's apple. It radiates off me all day (15-18h) with just one spray.

I wasn't a fan of the opening it wasn't bad but I was underwhelmed due to the hype but in the dry down is where this shines. I got a leather Amber from the opening but it settled down very nice to a vanilla and nice spice.
Very nice breakdown. I think Carlisle is a 10. Pegasus Exclusive Herod and Layton are 10s in my book.
Shagya is my fave clean almost soapy with well blended easily wearable oud. Didn't smell layton or carlisle

This is my favorite fragrance I own. I wear this to work twice a week... because I work remote, so it's just me and the dog. Seriously, on my skin the projection is 3 ft.+, and it lasts 12 hours on my skin, and 3+ days on whatever shirt collar I spray it on. The opening is too smoky for me, but that's gone in a minute or two. After 10 minutes it's simply fantastic, and the longer it's there, the better it gets. 6 hours in, it's hard to keep from sniffing my arm like a lunatic. I do smell the rose, but it's completely underpinned by the patchouli-tonka-vanilla combination that smells... expensive.
Carlisle is definitely a top 5 of all time for me.
Kalan is one of the best along with Green Irish Tweed...Kalan is a performer!

01 Layton- because it's perfection ... unique .. fantastic , fresh... when i smell it ... gives me kind of a "mmmmmm " reaction it's 9/10 for me
02 Haban - because its defferent, and when it hits the drydown .. its woahhh.. and its not as expensive
03 Carlislle - well, its a beast but it opens up like a few other pdm fragrances.. its not as unique but it is the best from the rest
04 Percival - well mainly because its sweet fresh .. and the first day i wore it at my university .. i got 4 complements in witch one was from girl that just walked by

Hey Ashton! I have a doubt regarding the cap of carlisle? I have got a carlisle where the presentation and batch code looks all right. But two issues : Cap of my Carlisle is different from that of my Herod and Oajan bottle. In the case of my Herod and Oajan, I need to put some effort to remove the cap from the bottle , this is not the case with my Carlisle bottle.
Second issue: Smell doesn't change much and projection is very poor after 30mins. Remains as a faint skin scent for another 6 hours!

I’ve smelled the entire line many times. Carlisle is the best to me, but older bottles of Herod compete. Layton Exclusif if you don’t mind the harshness is also quite nice. Gives me a headache tho

How long should a bottle of this last before going bad? I know some may get better over time. Pdm says three years. I was gonna buy a used bottle from someone that is 1.5 yr since first spray.
Yeah just tried this one after buying Layton. Not sure what you guys were smelling. But it made everyone at the store nauseous. Everytime someone smelled it they felt sick.
I just picked up Carlsle and Sedley, havent opened Sedley until it gets warm. Layton #1, Herod #2 then Carlisle for now.

Interestingly, Carlisle on my skin IS more of a fruity floral scent... at least in the opening. There are so many nuances to it that in my estimation, it's actually overly complex and not earthy or woody enough, and I dislike it for that reason, but I know I'm in a minority here. But it just doesn't work for me, plus my wife hates it on my skin. For me, it suffers from the problem of being all things to all people, and not picking one specific direction. Try before you buy for sure.
Carlisle is probably the best PDM with layton and herod closely following behind..i enjoy herod also i spray it on my wrist just to sniff it..only if the longevity would have been like carlisle..
Carlisle is my personal all time favorite, not just in the pdm line.

Carlisle was the first sample from PDM that I smelled. It was an instant love for me. I have several of their bottles and samples now..

PDM is a bit expensive for me. I’ve only put my nose on three of them. Personally I’d rather wear Layton Exclusif than Layton. Layton Exclusif is darker on skin but it smells great. Layton smells darker and on skin it’s a similar thing.
I’m getting now Herod and Carlisle, so cannot say anything yet.

All sents are unisex truly and honestly but we have developed a traditional way of use, I have only smell go dolphin I dont even know what it is but I think I love it!!
For me, i like pegasus best then herod, Carlisle, layton and Galloway have them all, love it, big fan of parfums de marly

Got my PdM Layton from Fragrancenet and I am not smelling the same I smelled at the Nordstrom store. After two hours I can't smell it. Will be returning it. I've ordered Herod from FragranceX will see if it smell the same as the sample I got from Nordstrom.

Advice Please.
I'm super new to paying attention to fragrances and in the past couple of weeks, find that i go nose blind to something i'm wearing quickly. I have this one coming in the mail tomorrow and was wondering, how many sprays of this should i use? It's right around Zero degrees celsius here in Toronto right now if That's a factor. Brand brand new to colognes but, i just had a gut feeling about this one getting a sense of it from reviewers such as yourself. Much Appreciated.
Also, is it possible to put a fragrance on where the scent doesn't really seem all that fantastic yet, somehow makes you feel powerful? I grabbed a bunch of samples today from someone close and I swear, it's like a magic elixir but, i'm not head over heals from the actual scent. It's very strange and brand new to me.
I only have one PDM so far and that’s Layton and loving it! I am about to give Carlisle a try for upcoming fall and winter here on East Coast.
I have a bottle of this and i do agree that this is a fruity floral. I find it very similar to Layton which i have as well and I think they are somewhat redundant of each other. Layton more on the oriental and smoky drydown while Carlisle more towards floral
carlisle is basically layton +herod+habdan mixed together as such you can be of two schools of thought A carlisle id awesome and if you have it you dont need the other three, actually there is no situation wherein one would rather wear any of those 3 instead of carlisle or B the exact opposite , i am on B team
IMO carlisle is a derivative, uninspiring and redundant release , i prefer to have layton, herod and habdan and wear those separately instead of carlisle , as each of them is 1 more versitle/wearable and 2 more coherant as an idea with a distinct and unique character
that said carlisle is much more cost-effective considering its 3 PDMs in one bottle,and it performs better than either of those 3 , at least on me , but it compromises on versatility, again from my perspective, its exclusively, or predominantly a winter and cold weather nights out , and formal occasion scent , its too strong and cloying for the fall, its not office-friendly , its too dark and resinous for casual use , for date its 50/50 if its too much or not
i have to admit i love carlisle as a scent it does smell awesome but its not bottle/ buy worthy for me , i am much happier owning layton , herod and habdan instead of carlisle , and i really see no point or use for owning those 3 an carlisle together , but thats just me

Maybe I haven't given it enough time to evolve but it smells reminiscent of Tom Ford black orchid. To me black orchid smells better. It has that mysterious pop in it that Carlisle lacks.

Opening is so-so but the drydown is outstanding. Only PDM I’d get a full bottle of.
I admittedly am new in my frag journy but i find the opening challenging. After a breif period the magic starts to happen.
Edit: What is the deal with companies insisting that their are only two styles of fragrance, for women and unisex? I am a dude that has no reservations in being a dude. I am not apologetic about it nor do i see it as a problem. In fact just the opposite. I told myself i would not purchase a frags from brands that are ashamed if manhood but quickly realized i would limit myself to next to nothing. Love me some brands such as Rogue that understand the point of being a gentleman.

I just bought it. I’m not impressed. With all the hype I was expecting to be blown away. I was expecting something like Royal Oud from Creed. To me it’s green apple Jolly Rancher candy, vanilla, smoke, and patchouli. On the dry down I’m mostly getting smoke and patchouli. Ébène Fumé by Tom Ford is a much better smoky-resin fragrance.
I have Layton but I'm Looking to buy either Herod or Carlisle for coming colder months. What would most of you who read this recommend, Buying first?
