- Eventually to be replaced Tyne and Wear metro trains, GBRF 60 heading to Tyne Dock, a couple of northern 156 heading to Hexham and Whitby respectively #railway #train #freighttrain #trainspotting #railwayjourney
I genuinely like your videos and your narration. I’m sensing something has gone on with the day job? I’m hoping it can be sorted and we can have some more ‘90 videos soon 😊
Appreciate you can’t/won’t talk about what might’ve happened at work; but your ‘regular’ videos are being sorely missed. Hopefully normal service can soon be restored. Loving these though. Take Care buddy.
My neck of the woods Brian although wrong side of the river, as said before I was a kid when they were first changing over to Metro, lived beside Cullercoats station and we would often get a driver who would give us a ride on the test trains, best one was non stop to Haymarket and back to Tynemouth, happy days before silly health and safety paperwork.
Love your videos Brian, it's really interesting to see the drivers perspective outside of actually driving a train, there a few 'drivers view' youtubers out there, but I've only found yours, that shows down at track level in your respective yards etc.
Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks Brian, interesting to hear your commentary about things. I'm reminded of a Corona-era interview with a Sunderlander. I'm American and can't distinguish the individual words that he says but it's something like "I didn't do any shopping, I just followed my wife around. I'm not bothered, like. Get the pubs open and I'll be bothered" lol.
I grew up here - strong memories of Deltics at Newcastle and spectacular long clattering DMU rides down the coast to Whitby. Hope to do it again soon.
Hope everything is ok at work? Miss the freightliner videos.
Tyne and Wear Metro overhead is not 750v DC instead it is 1,500v DC.
Great video and great to see freight on tyne and wear metro lines
There were freight trains running on that line, long before the metro came along. I should know, I worked on B.R
Pelaw Metro Junction to Sunderland is part of the Durham Coast line. The Metro has running powers, but the line is controlled by the York signalling centre, which also controls the extension from Sunderland to South Hylton which is only used by Metro. Incidentally, freight trains to the Jarrow oil terminal now run over the Metro line from Pelaw to South Shields under the supervision of Metro Control. As well as the Northern trains every hour there is an early morning LNER Azuma from Sunderland to King's Cross via Newcastle and a late evening return - the Azuma runs on diesel between Sunderland and Newcastle. Grand Central's Sunderland to King's Cross service runs via Hartlepool and Eaglescliffe; but the trains are stabled at Heaton in Newcastle and run through Boldon as ECS.
Nice video. Just to say that tram voltage was 600V DC although modern so called trams use 750V DC but as has been pointed out below the T&W Metro uses 1500V DC. They also have disc brakes as well as rheostatic braking so "the brake blocks operating directly on the rail" statement is not correct. They do have an emergency magnetic track brake though. Keep up the good work young sir!
here’s a blast from the past! How are you doing David? Didn’t realise you’re a rail fan?
I'm fine in lovely retirement. I've been a rail fan since I was 12 years old and been building model steam engines since I was 14. How are you?
Great video Brian if you think the Tyne and Wear metro falling apart take a look at Dublin dart or some of the commuter trains in Brussels Hopefully we can get an update soon on how your getting on.
Ah no didn't realise you were up the toon would have loved to come and meet you 😮
Good quality as ever, could do with a bit more variety. Are you not driving any more, have not heard from you for a while.
hope everythings ok, miss your on the job video's
Yeah Freightliner have decided for now in cab stuff and yard stuff has to be paused while they check their safety case:
They’ve promised behind the scenes films for me but they won’t be as frequent
@@Traindriverbrian1Pleased to hear you are ok Brian
When will we start seeing some more freightliner videos?
Probably never
@@isaacwood4071 Why?
