Just bought and moved into our permanent home with the love of my life. Tears as I walked around listening to this and taking it all in. What a perfect song for a perfect moment in life.
My Wife and I just purchased our first home after nearly 20 years of struggles. I was listening to this song with my two sons with tears of joy running down my cheeks!!! Always loved the song but now it just makes soo much more sense!
This song was written by Graham Nash for Joni Mitchell when they lived together. She was on her way home when she stopped at a yard sale and bought a little vase. Beautiful!
i like how, if you stretch your ears a little, you can make the lyrics mean the flowers you bought or the vase you bought. I used to bring flowers home from a farm stand every week in the summer with my boyfriend at our first place
I always thought it meant two Cadillacs in the driveway. But I grew up reading and watching commonwealth books an TV. Been married 30+ years an have had a Caddy but never two in my driveway.
Amen.. was playing this song at work around 6pm today and the entire grocery store lost power. Kinda trippy. Amazing amazing sound. May his soul live on and forever be free , just as his music makes us feel.
Love this so...would rock my youngest and sing to him. This was his favorite...Many years later, he surprised me at his wedding. He chose this as the Mother & Son Dance music. Not a dry eye at that Reception.
I sang this song to both my kids when they were babies. They didn’t get traditional lullabies, they got the songs I k re all the words to ❤ I would love this to my my son and my mother son dance. He’s only a senior in high school now so we have some time!
My partner stuck beside me during clinical depression. When I got better, we heard this song on the radio. We were tidying up the house together and it felt like it was written for us - we had two cats in the yard, life used to be so hard, now everything was easy because we had each other. We started waltzing around the living room. I put my head on their shoulder and I cried happy, relieved tears, because in that moment I knew I was going to be okay. Yes, my mental health was always going to be an issue, but my partner would be in my corner and that meant I had the means to survive. Years later, we walked down the aisle to this song.
I found this to be a very moving read. I'm an (amateur) playwright. Do you write? If not you should do!! I hope you are feeling much better now. The right music can be really uplifting.
I saw on IMDB for the Cheers episode "Simon Says" (with John Cleese) that "Our House" was written by Graham Nash whilst living with Joni Mitchell. I googled it, and found this on Wikipedia: In October 2013, in an interview with Terry Gross on NPR's Fresh Air, Nash elaborated: _Well, it's an ordinary moment. What happened is that Joni [Mitchell] and I - I don't know whether you know anything about Los Angeles, but on Ventura Boulevard in the Valley, there's a very famous deli called Art's Deli. And we'd been to breakfast there. We're going to get into Joan's car, and we pass an antique store. And we're looking in the window, and she saw a very beautiful vase that she wanted to buy ... I persuaded her to buy this vase. It wasn't very expensive, and we took it home. It was a very grey, kind of sleety, drizzly L.A. morning. And we got to the house in Laurel Canyon, and I said - got through the front door and I said, you know what? I'll light a fire. Why don't you put some flowers in that vase that you just bought? Well, she was in the garden getting flowers. That meant she was not at her piano, but I was ... And an hour later 'Our House' was born, out of an incredibly ordinary moment that many, many people have experienced._ In the same interview, Nash was asked about the vocal harmonies in the song: _It's me and David [Crosby] and Stephen [Stills] doing our best. That's all we ever do. You know, we're lucky enough to be able to do, you know, anything that we want to do, musically. And, you know, these two guys are incredible musicians. Crosby is one of the most unique musicians I know, and Stephen Stills has got this blues-based, South American [sic] kind of feeling to his music. And I'm this, you know, Henry VIII guy from England ... You know, it's not supposed to work, but it does, somehow._
"Our House" is beyond this world, too, and all the great music-makers will be there again. RIP David Crosby. Your voice was so pure and added the icing to any tune you sang.
One of the greatest love /life songs. Because of my daughter in law, my son gets to experience, " Life used to be so hard, now everything is easy cause of you." He and she even have a cat and 3 kids. A great woman makes a good man great.

Many will be singing and dancing you forth. I like imagining you are winging your way to dwell in a very very very fine house...of peace. End of any suffering And for all who come here: love love love. Carrying Joni Mitchell and all those artists who were and are troubadours of peace in my heart today ,too. Not just nostalgia-- as relevant today ,as ever.Vast.The love is vast. May Planet Earth be a very very very fine house one day for all.

Tears come to my eyes hearing this now. Life was wonderful back then and compared to the hell we are heading for that was heaven. I go back in a second...Muisc was really music and heart felt. Where did it all go???
Couldn’t agree more. Great song and emotional ending to the best sitcom ever. I love the scene before that too, never been able to find the music for it so I wrote it out ruclips.net/video/BNvSQMDyZk0/видео.html

Hello I am Freddy and I always loved this old song because I am very dyslexic and epileptic and have adult autism spectra and am not able to provide for a wife and children but all of my life I truly wish that I could have been able to have a family of my own to have happiness and know what others are like...... thank you very much and God bless you ❤️🙏☮️🌎
A colorful, fun, sweet video and what is truly one of the most touching, and sublimely endearing songs from the 1970's...it captures that quiet delight we silly humans experience only with those we truly love when we are completely alone with them...oh, but including the cats or dogs that is! :-)
First comes our house, and then comes teach your children and next comes find the cost of freedom .One of my favorite super groups, C.S.N.Y thank you for the music from South Africa 🇿🇦
Growing up me and my dad would listen to “Our House” as well as your guys other albums all the time. I’m 40 now, I play this song on guitar when feeling nostalgic. Rest In Peace to a legend. Thank you for your amazing music which gave me such precious memories!
We adopted a kitten to get our grown cat out of depression and it worked very well, now they groom each other and now our house is a very very very fine house, with TWO cats in the yard
I've loved this song since first hearing it on Only Fools and Horses, 'Time on our hands' my favourite episode. I would always sing it to my boyfriend and still sing it to my daughter as she falls asleep. I have my 2 cats in my yard and life is still sometimes kind of hard but it is all easier to get through💛✨️
The greatest love song alongside Beatles Something ever written when I play this song I have it on repeat for over an hour lol you can’t stop listening Graham Nash’s voice is superior I saw them live few years back now and they sounded even better live, it was genius idea whoever came up with it bringing in Graham Nash English Songwriter and Singer from Hollies to write & sing and it sounds exactly like a hollies song would sound like today, they were so ahead of time it’s the gorgeous harmonies the silk epic voice that just naturally flows and a melody you’d think had or should have already been written by then, man they are amazing, I freaken love them we get nothing like this today and I don’t know why, is it because A & R men looking on RUclips being lacy for talent instead of going to bars clubs pubs anymore where real groups play I don’t know
I am 76 years old and still listening 👂 to great music, how many more years of great music and living do I have??
Don't count down the years... Enjoy the memories made in living!
It doesn't matter how many just make the most of the ones you have left
You have many more years to live a good life.don't think 💬 about the number, live, love and laugh 😂 God bless you and everybody 🙏💕

This song was written by Graham Nash for Joni Mitchell when they lived together. She was on her way home when she stopped at a yard sale and bought a little vase. Beautiful!
The Laurel Canyon scene back then was insane.

I think of this song every time we sit out in our yard on a lovely evening with our two cats playing on the lawn. :)
The song would have been better if the included a dog in the yard. Too bad. Missed opportunity.
Beautiful 😁

It's okay to cry at the passing of the people who added their music to the soundtrack of your life, isn't it? Asking for friend. RIP David .

Crying is very very healthy and important, it's worse holding everything in.

Tears come to my eyes hearing this now. Life was wonderful back then and compared
to the hell we are heading for that was heaven. I go back in a second...Muisc was really
music and heart felt. Where did it all go???
1996 I heard this first time on tv (only fools and horses) song was a perfect ending to the show both classics
Couldn’t agree more. Great song and emotional ending to the best sitcom ever. I love the scene before that too, never been able to find the music for it so I wrote it out

God bless you David Crosby. I grew up to your music. Dad played it, vinyl. In highschool my brother played it vinyl. You were part of the sound track of my upgrowing, life. And I thank you. 🕇
The song is perfect! It’s timeless
Sublime, Timeless. One of my favorite Songs and One of Best Ever
Hello I am Freddy and I always loved this old song because I am very dyslexic and epileptic and have adult autism spectra and am not able to provide for a wife and children but all of my life I truly wish that I could have been able to have a family of my own to have happiness and know what others are like...... thank you very much and God bless you ❤️🙏☮️🌎
God bless you Freddy
the cadence he sings in is really nice - it's nostalgic and loving. this song is great.
A colorful, fun, sweet video and what is truly one of the most touching, and sublimely endearing songs from the 1970's...it captures that quiet delight we silly humans experience only with those we truly love when we are completely alone with them...oh, but including the cats or dogs that is! :-)
and the cockatiels
Yes, it captures every detail of a life story, those times and moments, our history of life’s sweetest and appreciated times and moments. 💝
Very cute video and am happy I got to see CSNY live once.
RIP David Crosby, thank you for songs like this.. 😍
Graham Nash wrote this song. Just giving credit where it's due. RIP David Crosby.
Sitting on my the hearth of our (my) first home.... Thank You Linda❤🎉🌺🌻💐🐰🐱🙏🇺🇲
I'll light the fire
You place the flowers in the vase
That you bought today
Staring at the fire
For hours and hours while I listen to you
Play your love songs all night long for me
Only for me
Come to me now (Come to me now)
And rest your head for just five minutes
Everything is done
Such a cozy room (Such a cozy room)
The windows are illuminated
By the evening sunshine through them
Fiery gems for you, only for you
Our house is a very, very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard
Life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy 'cause of you
And our
La-la, la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la, la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la, la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
Our house is a very, very, very fine house
With two cats in the yard
Life used to be so hard
Now everything is easy 'cause of you
And our
I'll light the fire
While you place the flowers in the vase
That you bought today

Sei a casa .....buon riposo !
Un immenso grazie per questo gioiello e per i sogni che mi ha suscitato !
You might like a band called The Doublejumps if you like CSNY
Growing up me and my dad would listen to “Our House” as well as your guys other albums all the time. I’m 40 now, I play this song on guitar when feeling nostalgic. Rest In Peace to a legend. Thank you for your amazing music which gave me such precious memories!

Fond memories when I was a kid with my parents and younger brother in the car on holidays and we'd sing this together
I am recording a cover of this song for my husband when he turns 63 in November.
The lyrics will change to "With chickens in our yard..."
We adopted a kitten to get our grown cat out of depression and it worked very well, now they groom each other and now our house is a very very very fine house, with TWO cats in the yard
. That's very beautiful
I've loved this song since first hearing it on Only Fools and Horses, 'Time on our hands' my favourite episode. I would always sing it to my boyfriend and still sing it to my daughter as she falls asleep.
I have my 2 cats in my yard and life is still sometimes kind of hard but it is all easier to get through💛✨️
The greatest love song alongside Beatles Something ever written when I play this song I have it on repeat for over an hour lol you can’t stop listening Graham Nash’s voice is superior I saw them live few years back now and they sounded even better live, it was genius idea whoever came up with it bringing in Graham Nash English Songwriter and Singer from Hollies to write & sing and it sounds exactly like a hollies song would sound like today, they were so ahead of time it’s the gorgeous harmonies the silk epic voice that just naturally flows and a melody you’d think had or should have already been written by then, man they are amazing, I freaken love them we get nothing like this today and I don’t know why, is it because A & R men looking on RUclips being lacy for talent instead of going to bars clubs pubs anymore where real groups play I don’t know
Too true, live groups, a little floor to dance..a more intimate social hookup 🎶 than isolating social media
This was a song we all sang in our family when I was growing up in the 70s. Brings back a lot of happy memories. RIP David Crosby.
Great graphics!! My 3 year old grandson loved it while he listened to the song with me.✌️❤️
In remembrance of my brother, Douglas Alvin Avin. Thank you brother for loving your little sister enough to share your albums✌️❤️
