I love the fact that it is an official scene. Made from people that are paid to work on these and they made these specific choices to bring this to life. And it's not that there's a lot in it. But there's just enough that there is absolutly no way that they didn't know what they were doing when they did that. There is absolutly no way they did not know what it would bring down when they choose to have sephiroth paralyse cloud, mind control him and caress his head while calling him a puppet.
Thought this exact thing every time they had a scene in remake. When it's painstakingly animated you can't just attribute it to an actor's interpretation. I was actually really surprised at how far they went with it

Listen guys...I need you all to understand that, this Sephiroth that we are seeing IS NOT Sephiroth. That is JENOVA. Jenova is acting as Sephiroth taking on his form. Sephiroth died in the North Crater, his body was crystalized just like Lucrecia's body when he was knocked out by Cloud, THEN Cloud went and destroyed his real body which is his real self completely when he went into the North Crater to defeat Seph. So, whenever you guys are looking at Seph it's reallly Jenova.
Nice theory but it breaks down when you realize that Sephiroth uniquely has an obsession with Cloud and in the entirety of FFVII, only one single line is attributed to Jenova. Her own will was subsumed by Sephiroth's. No interviews or guides have ever suggested Jenova was in the driver's seat. Sephiroth's body wasn't crystallized like Lucrezia's, it was damaged and being reconstructed, which is why only half his body is shown when he makes Cloud give him the Black Materia. Sephiroth was drawing on the power of the Lifestream to repair his body and empower himself. The Sephiroth you see throughout the game is still Sephiroth, but it's either illusions or acting through remains or Jenova or his "Sephiroth Clones" that he morphs into himself to interact with the party.
Sephiroth and Jenova work together. In Opera Omnia there’s a cutscene where it seems like he’s talking to himself but is actually talking to Jenova. Or Jenova is talking to him. Haven’t figured out yet in that game wether he’s in his own body, Jenova’s body again or Kadaj’s. It’s kinda like how Egyptian Bakura and Zork became one and the same as “Yami Bakura” in YuGiOh. Same idea, different people/beings.

For example, after he summons a bunch of Zack clones/manikins so that we know they’re fake or not actually Zack their dialogue is in . There is no Sephiroth manikin around when Jenova or Sephiroth are talking, it changes between the arrows and not and changes camera angles depending on who is speaking. Also he’s been shown before to be talking to her in the past in-game, although players probably don’t pay it much mind. (And in OG they do take turns talking, even though it’s Jenova’s body taking on his form. -Until after Meteor is summoned that is.- Like when Aerith was killed, on a blank screen Jenova says that Cloud was a puppet.)
