Watched Norman Wisdom being filmed on his bike outside the Royal Hotel, so love your "then and now". Our grandparents lived opposite the Jolly Sailor - happy memories.
That bit with the bike you mention, where he goes over to the tennis courts, is one of the next clips I hope to create 👍 Great to know that you were actually there watching 👍
Always good to see Teignmouth rain or shine......love old quaint pubs.....When I left UK in 2008, I had a long coat and anorak, I never wore a coat in 15 years here, T shirts and shorts, jeans sometimes in the evenings...
Brighter this day lovely, The lovely Jolly Sailor, happy family memories for me, bless Norman a great entertainer we were lucky to have him. Nice old pier pic, lovely seawall with it's limestones on the path, plenty of train's to day, geese is it not seagulls? Great view down on to the Teign bean. Thanks for sharing Bill 👏👋
Absolutely loved the Norman Wisdom clip. We've got the film recorded so will watch again to see & also will tread in Norman's footsteps when we're down in September!
Great film Norman wisdom one of the best, my dad would have a pint in the Jolly Sailor, and two chaps who own the fish and chip shop next door, in them days one would say to him i am going to the library some good books in there to read, he meant the public house Jolly Sailor, 😂 Thank you Bill brings back memories,
Hi Bill conker plant looking good loved the press for time bit one of my favourite films then and now photos great as always hope your well and your mum take care 😀👍👍👍👍👍
great video lots of good facts today i didn't know about the pub, nice seafront i remember 2014 it was a bad year for you, good walk on sea wall i saw 802108 today lol train at 9.52 in your video still looks attacked like in your video, good crossover too at the end
Nice video bill. im glad i live in Teignmouth when i was 18 yrs old i worked behind the bar in the jolly now im 48 its a different set up inside the pub. gl with the next video just an idea morgan giles shipyard and the slipway.
Thanks - Ive done the Morgan Giles shipyards as 'Then & Nows' before ruclips.net/video/VjEbjHVo5j0/видео.html is one, but there have been a few more mixed in with other videos 👍
Yes, more to come - More as random 'Surprises' than featured parts of the video 👍 Plans for the Pier? It appears that the owners plans are to spend the absolute minimum on repairs, let it rot, and make as much money as possible. Local groups have offered money and labour to help improve the piers appearance, and they have all been declined... Its a lost cause I'm afraid... I mean, I wasn't exaggerating about that dead seagull - Only about 4 feet inside the railings - Left to rot there in full view for at least a month - Someone could have just tossed it over the side - But no... To much trouble... :(
Simply because it earns them so much money, for virtually zero outlay. The less they spend, the more they make. That seagull is still there as well - Just 4 feet from where it used to be - I actually filmed it in todays video, which will be live next Friday 👍
@@BillsPhoneTeignmouth I used to visit there when I was on holiday I remember it used to have some bowling ally’s hours of fun with a great selection of machines and 2p pushers not really the same now

Hi Bill, great content as always, I wondered if you had an old photo of The Lifeboat Inn on the Strand for Then and Now. Cheers all the best.
Yes I have 👍 I'll move it up my schedule, & do it tomorrow or the next day - So you'll see it either a week next Wednesday Or Thursday 👍
@@BillsPhoneTeignmouth I'm looking forward to that.
Great to see Norman Wisdom causing chaos totally unexpected. More please. Are there any plans for the pier? Loved going on piers as a child 😊👍

Thank you for the reply. We think it’s a shame and if the owners don’t want it why not sell it?

The train station featured in Press for time is actually West Drayton
Yep 👍
Such a shame that the pier got damage in 2014 used to be really good to visit then
Yes, I virtually grew up on that pier - Just a shadow of what it once was these days... :(
@@BillsPhoneTeignmouth I used to visit there when I was on holiday I remember it used to have some bowling ally’s hours of fun with a great selection of machines and 2p pushers not really the same now
Nope. Nothing ever is now though, unfortunately... :(
