Polo shirt. Jeans. Hat doesn't fall off. 6 months removed from a fractured back. Explaining in great detail a wrestling move he has done in 20 years... Amazing.
Is anyone else impressed Juan's hat didn't fall off over the course of an 11-minute instructional video? I definitely want to try this move. Thank you, Juan and Coach Brian!
Ha! Juan is sandbagging hard. Polo shirt, jeans, hat stays on straight the entire time, coming off a serious back injury and performs this through-by instructional on a drop in…Juan is a weapons storehouse. Thank you coach Brian
Judo guy here. First off, mad respect to Juan. Not only is he tremendously skilled but he explains his techniques and mindset very clearly even after coming back from a long time away from the sport. Second, working in a different sport with a different set of rules that set up with the spine control would make for a nightmare o soto gari. Thank you for the excellent content!
Juan looked a little akward at the onset but when they started to demo, he just fucking zoned in and was in his complete element. The muscle memory is fascinating. Imagine being a gym bro and getting into an argument with Juan at a Target parking lot, next thing you know he's thrown-by your ass.
I love doing something very similar to this and dragging my opponent down into an arm triangle from there. This video got me thinking about how to clean up my technique a bit and make it more efficient, thanks Brian and Juan! :)
Why do you have to shoot for the takedown first to get a hold of the neck? Isn't the neck immediately available? So it's kind of a russian tie to throw-by?
Really great information. I do wish on a lot of these types of videos there would be more technique demonstration and less talk. I think we need to see it over and over several times then do some explaining. It's so segmented that you can't get the flow and its hard to pay attention with the constant rambling.
I love how things work so well.......in slo motion,,,on a soft mat,,,,,and with a friend .....REALITY CHECK!! SHIT WONT WORK AGAINST AN EXPERIENCED FIGHTER.........
2:31 The guy in red is trying to teach something and the guy in the blue shirts ego stepped in and had to remind us he taught that on a video before. Martial artist are so immature.
The shorts I'm wearing were the USA Grappling team shorts for the world championships in 2009. Russians definitely wear their country on their uniforms.

Juan hasn't wrestled in 20 years but shows movement like he's back in college again.
Those skills never go away. Mine are with me 40 years on when I started bjj.
Straight up. Thats why i love wrestling
Legit, his single looks so much cleaner than mine 🤣
You know the man can wrestle when he shows a move several times without dropping a hat.

Sometimes it take a few minutes to get the groove going. Great video
More like hasn’t wrestled “competitively”, the guy is a weapon and never stopped… come on coach LOL
Epic. Your channel has made this BJJ guy really interested in drilling wrestling moves.
That was some great technique!
i watched this video when you posted it, but it just now clicked for me. Great technique!

Great vid!
Part of me says take that and lock hands and do a Greco-Roman style head throw.
8:00 wtf is that wrestling warmup in the back or what
Was thinking the same thing 😂
Wonder if instead of taking the back if this would be a good set up for a hip throw? Love the set up, see so many techniques you could chain to.
Reminds me of shuai jiao technique
Fing FIRE
It's called, "The Juan Roman" or jam your face into your own armpit and go for a ride. Brilliant!
1000th like !!!

This is about wrestling, right? Cuz, if some guy grabs my arm with both of this hands, he's getting a left to the eyeball, LOL!
I would love to train simplex’s under you. I mean at your school.
CHIN STRAP = YOUR NECK GRIP !!!

i never see russian or dagestani wrestlers wearing their flags as shorts, this is why they're the best, no 'usa usa usa' mentality
