You know Capti, it sounds or seems strange, but if an instructor misses something as simple as how to tighten a tank strap or alternate ways to attach a SPG or Octo, those student divers will be without important tips until they are finally shown at some point in their diving career. I changed from plastic cam buckles on my Zeagle Stiletto to quick release cam bands. It was the best improvement I’ve made to my gear. It made tank changes on a crowded boat safer and easier.
Yes, you should be able to do it. Take a look behind the Back-Pad and you'll see how it's routed into the plastic back plate, pretty simple. Remember to rethread the strap through the back trim pockets.
Could you weigh a plastic vs metal tank strap? Not sure if it’s worth replacing my metal ones for travelling or if it’s so close weight wise not to bother with getting some plastic buckles thanks
This Saturday the plastic cam band on a Aqualung bcd came loose and tank slipped out. What's the hurry with tank switching? You have a surface interval anyway. Just my 2 cents

The best strap quick release type it's very easy to change the tank and so fast to change between dives

The SS buckle is .7 of a pound and plastic is .5 Thanks Bob C
