Thank you Izzy….great information. Yes, it’s certainly a journey to find that right pair of comfortable but ‘where out and about’ pair of pants. So much food for thought in your video… So helpful, I greatly appreciate your time, effort and experience in putting this content together 👍👏☺️💕🧵Xxx
First time watching one of your video's Izzy.....sooooo refreshing!! 😃It was nice to receive an unbiased, honest and constructive review. Just in time because I'd planned already to make the Pattern Emporium Urban Pants, went looking for a review and came across your video. I've had similar experience with Love Notions, I really like some of their patterns and they've worked well for me, but not all of them. Pattern emporium on the other hand always work beautifully for me with some minor adjustments to suit my body. And you're right, Kate's instructions are amazing and the care and thought she takes putting together the pattern tutorial sets Pattern Emporium apart from some other indie brands IMO. All the best with your next Pattern Emporium Urban Pants! 😀 Be sure to post another video about it if you do.
So glad you enjoyed the video! I agree - Kate puts so much effort into her patterns. I've had a lot of luck sewing Love Notions top patterns and I just love their Metra Blazer pattern, but no luck sewing their bottoms... ever! LOL Thank you so much for watching!
I made the Arlie Stretch pants by Style Arc in a ponte and was very pleased with style and fit. These are wearable for work, but I would like to make again in a more casual fabric. Nice straight leg.
The only knit pants (and shorts) I've made for myself are pajama pants - and it's nice and dark when I'm wearing them so as long as they're comfortable, they work! Otherwise, I'm not confident fitting pants to myself and admire you for pursuing a good fit by testing multiple patterns and alterations - good luck with the next pair!
Yes, the Parkers are really good. I made them twice and although they aren't perfect on me, they aren't bad at all. I was hoping to find a style with wider or flared legs.
This was perfectly timed Izzy! I have the PE Urban pants on my cutting table as we speak! I’ve only made the Allegro shorts from LN and did get a good fit after adjustments. I primarily use LN, PE, Sinclair, I2S and Cashmerette patterns. I get the best fit with Cashmerette and Sinclair’s petite file on my 5’2” frame with the least adjustments. I’ve only made one PE pattern top and I did find I needed to size down a bit. All over LN and I2S require more adjustments for me. Thanks for sharing this comparison video!
I have a couple of Sinclair patterns. I really should give them a try. PE patterns do tend to run large on my on my top half but I usually get a pretty good fit with their pants patterns.
… Izzy great report 👍🏼👍🏼., my favourite part is when you realize that love notions is just not for you and you’re moving on 🙌🏼💙‼️.. it’s liberating , and we seem to all spend so much time fitting something vs just trying another pattern … so I appreciate this message .. try again or just move on 👍🏼‼️‼️hugs xoxoxo Monica
I agree with you about love notions pants. I’ve never been able to get a good fit on their pants, but I love their top patterns. I am planning to make a pair of sweat pants (joggers) so thank you I plan to try the urban pants. I usually do the adjustments that you mentioned so will give that pattern a try.
Totally agree regarding the Resolution bottoms. First and only knit pants pattern I’ve tried. Never again. May consider trying the Urban pants. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
I hear you on the Resolution Bottoms! Did a complete double take when I saw that leg shape, quite bizarre. Comfy pj pants, but won't be making them again. Next stop Pattern Emporium Foxy Legs...💜
Loved your video, thank you. I have had Urban pattern for some time, but am yet to make them. I do find PE sizing to be very good if you measure as instructed. Their fitting advice and support on their Facebook page is incredible.
I am just looking at making up the Urban Pants so very useful info - just bought the pattern before Christmas. I've made the Sinclair Sunset Lounge pants a couple of times in a cosy fleece-backed jersey and they are OK. I love a yoga waistband. I find the PE instructions very good and thorough.
I agree with you about the Resolution bottoms - they are a weird shape. When I made them I did make a comment to you that I was going to make them and you warned me and I wish I had taken more notice (wasted so much time and fabric!!). I have not made any pants from Pattern Emporium (have made many of Kate’s tops and dresses and I agree with another comment that sometimes the size can run large. Will try the Urban pants in the winter as it is summer in Queensland and just wearing shorts and tank tops.
Oh I'm sorry you also had issues with the Resolutions. I agree re: the PE patterns. They do run a little large for me also, but only their top patterns. I've made a couple of their pants patterns now and the fit is pretty good.
Love the fabrics you choose for your pants. That's too bad about the Resolution pants but good to know for myself as we have similar body measurements and I typically need to do the identical pattern adjustments. The PE pants look great! I'll have to give those a try. Thank you!! ❤
They are so fun. If you do get them, you'll probably want to size down. They are super comfy but I can see how "relaxed" they are on me. LOL I wore them tonight to go watch a hockey game and I felt really cute. The flared leg is really nice.
I’ve not made any stretch pants but think I would really like some. Enjoyed your review and would love to see your remake and know if they are what you’re looking for in a stretch pants
That was such a good review of those patterns. Glad you found one out of the 3 that work for you 👏🏼. I was told yesterday by my hairdresser that Barrel pants are in for 2025!! Isn't it crazy how all the pattern companies differ so much? I think the only trousers I feel comfortable going out in are the Parkers. I still love mine so much! Great video Izzy ❤ xx
Yes, barrel legs are very trendy right now. LOL I do wear my Parkers (both pairs) regularly and I even wear one pair to work because they really look great. But I was hoping to be able to find a pattern with a more relaxed fit and wider legs. Oh well - I'll keep searching! xx 💕
Hi Izzy, I have made about 5 PE Urbans in Ponte and stretch woven mainly the wide leg. I am 178cm so I make length adjustments in a few places. I wear them to work or casually. I also really like PE Pleats to Meet You pants which as well as length adjustments I make a bit wider in the leg. The Pleats pants I’ve made in a suede finished double brush poly and are so comfy . I love your viogs and so happy I found you via Andrea at Beyond the Pink Door. It’s great to see life in Montreal & the snow . Thanks Jeanette (from Melbourne in a hot summer)
I wore my Urban pants to the hockey arena tonight and I think I looked really cute! I just love the flared legs. I’ve always avoided pleats in my pants because I don’t want to add volume at my tummy. But to be fair I’ve never tried it so who knows!
This was a good review. I also have a hard time with Love Notions bottoms, but their block for tops and dresses fit me very well. Itch to Stitch, Jalie , and Helen Closet pants seem to work well for me so I just keep using those patterns and have variations where I play with leg width, style and length. I need to go through my patterns though and completely separate the leg types because I have mixed them up (front leg straight, back leg flared) when cutting. Cutting a pattern when tired is risky😮
Great review of knit pants. I've had limited success with Love Notions bottoms patterns. The Allegro bottoms seem to fit fairly well when I was about 20lbs lighter. But the duet pants went through lots of adjustments. I'm surprised that they don't fit better since the examples they show on the website show lots of different body types. Makes me wonder if they had to make adjustments. Anyway, there are lots of knit pants out there. The Style Arc Linda pants fit me well, but it's been a while since I made them. It's a yoga style pant. 😊❤
The issue with Ambassadors photos on websites is that they often picked the best picture they have, they put their hands in the pockets to hide the fact that the pockets are gaping, you don't get a picture of the back of the pants or they have a really "artistic" pose and you basically can't really see the fit at all. You're absolutely right though - there are a lot of options out there!
All three pants look good on you, Izzy. Fun video comparing all three! I'm so envious that you've been able to make pants that look so great on you; you're an inspiration to read and learn.
I've made two pairs of the Parkers and I do love them. They are a little more fitted than what I'd really like from a pair of casual knit pants. Also, they don't have front pockets LOL
Great video thanks for the information I found ta an charity shop here in Australia simplicity 8378 pants pattern I was very surprised at the fit don't know what year but I will be making these up for winter 😊😊😊
I really like the pattern emporium walk boldly pants. I also did the chalk and notch regard pants in knit with no adjustments and they are wonderful. They are supposed to be made in woven but worked well in knit.
I had the same problem with the LN Resolution Bottoms and the LN Duets. Your review is a relief to me as I’ve avoided making pants thinking that I needed to learn more about pants fitting. Maybe I just need some different patterns?
I know exactly what you mean! We just definitely need different patterns. Each designer/company designs from a different block and we just need to find the company whose block is closest to our shape.
Lovely video, Izzy. I haven't tried any of those pants. I love straight fit joggers (unisex) by Ellie and Mac, and I have Zen pants by 5 out of 4 on my list
Hi Izzy, I really enjoyed your input on these 3 pants patterns. I tried making some pants years ago and never tried again! It was a nightmare. But recently I decided to try again. I made the urban pants and they fit great with no problems. I was so shocked. I was sure I would have to make at least 3 muslins. I’m going to make them in Ponte and see if that affects the fit. I have a pattern by Christine Johnson ( the Travel Trio One) that have a seam down the middle of the leg. I bought them because of the reviews that said that seam made it easier to fit them to yourself. I think I might try those next. Thank you for taking the time to make three patterns and sharing the results!
Great video, thank you. Have you tried the Beth pants by style arc yet? They have the yoga waistband, too. I can't decide between the Beth and the Urban pants 😊
I like the look of the Beth Pants, but they are for stretch woven, not knits. Although I'm guessing you could use a knit fabric if you made some adjustments.
Thank you for your video. I made The Geoffrey Pants twice without any adjustments in a size 12 from french terry and I love them. Next time I’ll make a 10 as they are very wide. But as you said: they are statement pants!!! I have not as yet made the other two.
Great review, I do agree that 2 out 3 of your patterns are a difficult fitting but I have found a great knit pattern by The last stich and the name of the pattern is "The Vide knit pants" even tough Johanna is a petite slim modeling her own. The fit is excellent, I have been on the look for a knit pant for 3 years and finnaly found one that is comfy and stylist...my size is 18 and not always easy to fit but they were a dream to sew and wear. Have a look, hope that help in your search too!
Hi Izzy, very interesting comparison 😊. I don’t own any of these patterns and I don’t know why I don’t have a stretch pair of pants 👖😱😱. Thank you for sharing 💖💖
Hi Izzy, first comment to your channel. Great review and comparison. I am just about to sew up my first ever pair of knot pants which are the walk boldly pants from PE. Lots of great reviews. Cheers from (hot and humid) Melbourne Australia
That was helpful. I share a similar body size as you, so I am waiting to see your urban pants project. I still haven't ventured into making pants, and understanding the fit adjustments. Your videos are giving me courage to make the first attempt.
I'm so glad you found the video helpful and that you're thinking about jumping in. The thing is - you'll never get better at fitting pants if you never make pants. 😊
I made the Resolution pants with the boot cut out of a Ponte and I’m so glad that you, too, think they are weird. I thought so when I cut them out, but just went forward because what do I know about pattern drafting? They hang funny. I should cut that part off and make them a straight leg, but I haven’t even worn them this year. Thanks for the review.
I have not made any of these patterns. I do have plans to try a big 4 pattern that I have in my stash with a knit jogger style . I did make some ponte pants in a basic pull on elastic waist style. I had a pair of ready to wear that I really liked the fit so I just used them and traced a pattern and had great success. Great review on the different patterns. Disappointed in the Love Notions. You are pretty amazing getting so much done. I commend you on trying to get that perfect pair of casual knit pants. Have not tried the yoga waistband….yet! Thanks so much 😘
Thank you so much Kathleen! I wish I had RTW knit pants that fit me properly so I could copy them. Unfortunately, I can't find any that I love which is why I'm so determined to make myself some.
I just got the urban's and the pleats to meet you patterns. I haven't tried them yet but am really looking forward to doing so. Have you tried the pleats to meet you?
Im also looking for a perfect knit pattern. 45 years ago I went to a pants fitting workshop and developed the perfect pattern. Then I was a size 8. Currently, my measurements mirror yours. I wish I could just go to another workshop!
Great review, Izzy! I agree, the Urban pants look best on you. I have not made them but am tempted to try the Vide Knit Pants by The Last Stitch (Johanna Lundstrom). They look very polished and more “dressy” than the typical knit pant.
Ive considered buying the urban pants pattern for a while but Im not good with fitting pants to my shape. I might give them ago after seeing your results.
Izzy, I may have shared this info with you already, so apologies if I am repeating myself. I absolutely love the Brooklyn knit pants from Style Arc. I have two pairs and wear them to death. Caveat is to make a muslin - I found the pattern to have way too much room in the abdomen, but otherwise, they are polished enough to wear out of the house, but as comfortable as wearing pajama pants.
I have also made the resolution bottoms. By some miracle, I achieved a really good waist/crotch/ hip fit. But the 90 degree knee is killing me! I have tried to redraw it but have not had a good result yet
Izzy, i find the Love NOTIONS block does not fit my body either. I may try the urban pants i also have issues with b “reading the wrinkles”. This is the type of video i really enjoy. Thanks-Claudia
Great comparison review,Izzy. I have the same issue with LN bottoms although their tops are great for me. I love the Urban pants too. Which ponte did you use from Minerva?
I also have no issues with the LN tops. In fact, some of my favourite top patterns are LN. I used their heavy core range ponte. It's really nice to sew and wear. I can't vouch for its longevity yet, but I can report back!
Thanks for the review Izzy. I have made many knit pants but not these particular designs. I have the Resolution pant in my collection of pants. Haven't made them yet. I find in general Style Arc does not fit me lol so I avoid their patterns after many tries. Too bad :(. My favorite pants pattern so far is the Jalli Eleanore pant. I have a pair in ponte that are my favorite pants. So comfortable and warm,. I feel dressed up in them. The only issue is that I did not add the front pocket hack. I have another pair in bengaline with pockets and I like those also. I did size up though. 🤩
Thank you Izzy….great information.
Yes, it’s certainly a journey to find that right pair of comfortable but ‘where out and about’ pair of pants.
So much food for thought in your video…

My go to knit trousers are the Style Arc Parker Ponte Pants. Have made several pairs in different stretch fabrics and enjoy wearing all of them.
Yes, the Parkers are really good. I made them twice and although they aren't perfect on me, they aren't bad at all. I was hoping to find a style with wider or flared legs.
I had the same issue as you with the resolution joggers so have just bought the pattern emporium pattern. Wish me luck!
I love Style Arc’s sage pants. I’ve sewn at least five pair out of a ponte.
Cool - I’ll have to check those out!!

I know it's hard to let go of a pattern you've spent time with! But sometimes you just have to move on, LOL.
I agree with you about love notions pants. I’ve never been able to get a good fit on their pants, but I love their top patterns. I am planning to make a pair of sweat pants (joggers) so thank you I plan to try the urban pants. I usually do the adjustments that you mentioned so will give that pattern a try.
You're right, Love Notions make great tops and those fit me pretty well overall. The Urban pants are really good!
Totally agree regarding the Resolution bottoms. First and only knit pants pattern I’ve tried. Never again. May consider trying the Urban pants. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
You're welcome! The Urban are definitely worth a try.
I hear you on the Resolution Bottoms! Did a complete double take when I saw that leg shape, quite bizarre. Comfy pj pants, but won't be making them again. Next stop Pattern Emporium Foxy Legs...💜
Oh I'm going to have a look at the Foxy Legs. Don't have that pattern.
Loved your video, thank you. I have had Urban pattern for some time, but am yet to make them. I do find PE sizing to be very good if you measure as instructed. Their fitting advice and support on their Facebook page is incredible.
I agree - I absolutely love their FB page!

I have the Sunset Lounge pants... completely forgot I had them. LOL I really should give them a try.
Thank you for the info... gona order the urban pants ❤
Well done! I must try a yoga waistband ❤

They are so fun. If you do get them, you'll probably want to size down. They are super comfy but I can see how "relaxed" they are on me. LOL I wore them tonight to go watch a hockey game and I felt really cute. The flared leg is really nice.

I love my Walk Boldly Pants by PE. A classy knit pant! Have the Urban Pants pattern but not sewn them up yet.
Enjoyed it, Izzy!! Fab info! 💗
Hi Izzy, I have made about 5 PE Urbans in Ponte and stretch woven mainly the wide leg. I am 178cm so I make length adjustments in a few places. I wear them to work or casually. When you find a few patterns that just work, it's just so amazing isn't it? Doing anything in the sewing room when tired is risky LOL
All three pants look good on you, Izzy. Fun video comparing all three! I'm so envious that you've been able to make pants that look so great on you; you're an inspiration to read and learn.
Aww thank you so much Carol! I feel the same way about you!
Hi Izzy. Loved this video - thank you! Another for you to try are the Style Arc Parker Ponte pants. I’ve made numerous pairs and absolutely love them.
I've made two pairs of the Parkers and I do love them. They are a little more fitted than what I'd really like from a pair of casual knit pants. Also, they don't have front pockets LOL

I really want to try a Big 4 pants pattern at some point.
I really like the pattern emporium walk boldly pants. I also did the chalk and notch regard pants in knit with no adjustments and they are wonderful. They are supposed to be made in woven but worked well in knit.
Based on all the comments, PE pants patterns are really successful for many.
I haven’t made any of these before. I did enjoy hearing your review. 😊
Lovely video, Izzy.
I haven't tried any of those pants.
I love straight fit joggers (unisex) by Ellie and Mac, and I have Zen pants by 5 out of 4 on my list
Thank you Agata! I’ve never heard of those patterns so I should check them out.
I bought them because of the reviews that said that seam made it easier to fit them to yourself. I think I might try those next. Thank you for taking the time to make three patterns and sharing the results!
I'm so glad you had a great experience with the Urban pants! They really are fantastic!

Someone else recommended them so I had a look and will be purchasing the pattern this weekend. It's beautiful!! Thank you!
Hi Izzy, very interesting comparison 😊. I don’t own any of these patterns and I don’t know why I don’t have a stretch pair of pants 👖😱😱. Thank you for sharing 💖💖
You really should get yourself a pair of stretch pants! I can't live without them anymore! 😂
Hi Izzy, first comment to your channel. Great review and comparison. I am just about to sew up my first ever pair of knot pants which are the walk boldly pants from PE. Lots of great reviews. Cheers from (hot and humid) Melbourne Australia
I've never made those, but I have heard good things about them. Hope they work out perfectly for you!
Add a pintuck down the front of your pants to make them look a bit more polished.
I feel bad you also had issues but I feel good about not being the only one who thinks they are weird. LOL
I have not made any of these patterns. I do have plans to try a big 4 pattern that I have in my stash with a knit jogger style . I did make some ponte pants in a basic pull on elastic waist style. Thank you so much Kathleen! I wish I had RTW knit pants that fit me properly so I could copy them. Unfortunately, I can't find any that I love which is why I'm so determined to make myself some.
I am sure you will get it worked out!
I just got the urban's and the pleats to meet you patterns. I haven't tried them yet but am really looking forward to doing so. Have you tried the pleats to meet you?
I don't have the Pleats to Meet you pattern because I don't love pleats in my trousers. They just add volume where I really don't need it LOL
Im also looking for a perfect knit pattern. 45 years ago I went to a pants fitting workshop and developed the perfect pattern. Then I was a size 8. Currently, my measurements mirror yours. I wish I could just go to another workshop!
Same! I really wish they offered good workshops near me.
Great review, Izzy! I agree, the Urban pants look best on you. I have not made them but am tempted to try the Vide Knit Pants by The Last Stitch (Johanna Lundstrom). They look very polished and more “dressy” than the typical knit pant.
The Vide is crazy gorgeous! It has all the features of a tailored woven dress pant but in knit. Maybe Izzy can sew this one!?
Thank you Sue! I'm off to check the Vide pattern now.
Ive considered buying the urban pants pattern for a while but Im not good with fitting pants to my shape. I might give them ago after seeing your results.
Definitely give them a go. You can't get better at fitting pants if you don't sew pants. 😊
Oh thank you so much for the recommendation. I don't think you ever mentioned it but I'm going to check them out now.
I have also made the resolution bottoms. By some miracle, I achieved a really good waist/crotch/ hip fit. But the 90 degree knee is killing me! I have tried to redraw it but have not had a good result yet
I'm so glad you managed to get a good fit with them. But yeah, that angle at the knee is just strange.
Izzy, i find the Love NOTIONS block does not fit my body either. I may try the urban pants i also have issues with b “reading the wrinkles”. This is the type of video i really enjoy. Thanks-Claudia
So happy I put this out there because now I know there are many of us! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video. xx
I will remind you if you talk about sewing another Loves Notions pants 😂
LOL Thank you!
Sounds like you found a pattern that really works for you. That's awesome!
Hi Izzy. Loved this video - thank you! Another for you to try are the Style Arc Parker Ponte pants. I’ve made numerous pairs and absolutely love them.
