This is such a fantastic idea and so well executed! I can’t understand how you haven’t got more subscribers as your video production quality and creative talent is top notch! You could definitely sell your blank swatches as PDF printables for people to download and create their own swatch book, I’m sure they would be popular. Excited for your next video!
I fully second that! My art supplies are a MESS, just because I can't bring myself to swatching out booooring lines and patches. Your ideas are so creative and fun, I'd love to support you while taking on my art.
6:04 Alcohol markers should be stored flat, especiallly if they are dual-tipped, because if they are stored on an angle, the ink will all go to the nib on the bottom. Hope this helps!
Those swatch cards are so unbelievably cute and creative! What a great idea instead of just switching squares endlessly. I would be forever grateful if you shared those swatch card as files and would absolutely use them!
I would love to eventually do something like this. I've had the idea to make a swatch book (since I can never find my swatches when I want them) and this is such an aesthetically pleasing approach. Alas, it will have to wait a while, as I'm neck deep in a huge project that's eating all of my time at the moment. Sigh.
Watched this with my child, and they said they want to come to your house because all the colors look so fun and you are kind and cool and your house is cool. :D
Golden mediums mixed with cheap paints work wonders! GACs and Soft gel gloss are wonderful! They don’t change the color of your paint nearly as much because they’re clear!
This is such a brilliant idea! I would have never thought of it. I have a binder that I have all of my swatches in. Oh…. Alcohol markers I have always stored flat. 😀
I agree, this is a really great idea. My fella got me a book that was made for swatching art supplies and it is not as fun to do or interesting as your and @SketchesnScrubs ideas. Very cool. 🧡💜
This is awesome. If you aren't selling the PDFs you are missing a revenue stream! Of course, the idea of swatching them makes me realize I have way too many supplies.
Whoohoo! I loved watching you do these swatches... you've got so much patience to do all of these... and they look awesome too! you've just made my Monday 😁
And I thought I was clever having an ordinary scrapbook with pages of swatches of my various mediums glued into it. 😩 Looks like I have a new project to do. P.s, love watching your sub count go up. 😀
Brilliant idea for swatches! - My gut feeling sais to store the markers flat. At least it’s a must with my watercolour-markers. Otherwise there‘s too much paint at one side and too little at the other.
Alcohol markers should be stored flat. I love them slept cards that you did all there for me they would have to be full A4 size because I have all these large sets of supplies.
I store my alcohol markers flat but I also store my paint markers flat as well. Also with the alcohol inks ive see other RUclipsrs put them into paint pallette and water them down to use them like watercolor unless you want that vibrancy from plain ink.
This is a very fun way of swatching! I might have to give it a go as well. Alcohol markers are best stored flat. I use the Spectrum Noir marker storage trays for mine
Your my new favourite art youtuber, I've been binge watching all your videos. This one has given me great ideas for swatching! (I dont like how tedious it is either)
First you gave me interest in Posca Markers…. Not Gouache seems particularly interesting hahah 😅. I love the idea of the box book and how you out it together with the swatches, I believe I wouldn’t have found it so interesting otherwise. ❤ May I had, your idea of using the ruler to mark the pages… chef kiss.
I am like you, but I still use a notebook with flimsy pages for my swatches. Very boring swatches. I always wanted to do something like that and now I feel inspired and have some ideas about what I can do. Thank you so much, you are amazing=3
My comments take two - That's what I get for falling down a rabbit trail after clicking on a video in my email. LOL I wrote my comment and then it vanished. But if it happens to pop up you'll get two for me😂🎉. I love the creative ways that you are creating your swatches. I appreciate that you've also given us the links to the RUclipsrs that inspired your process. Looking forward to your next video. Blessings.
Such a great way to Swatch, i need to do it ! Tips the polychromos they best work with a lot of light pass. I am In the process of swatching the all 120 collection polychromos and find thats the best way to get a smooth gradient ❤
I really love this video like i watch it ten times but i watch it again and again ,because i really enjoy it. It gave me a bunch of ideas so thank you very much😊
This is so damn good idea! I do swatch my art supplies, but most of the swatches don't look pretty at all, and this is the solution. This girl, @SketchesnScrubs, is genious! Kudos for both of you!
Im going to watch sketches and scrubs now . Love the swatches idea . Well done for showing us and recommend anothr youtuber. Loving your work . Love the idea of storing swatches in a book .i cant wait to have ago. Also i think you have nerdecrafter colouring book 😊 thats my guess 🤔😂❤
I am in awe of your artisticness. I just made that word up. I couldn't think of a better one. I ❤ the different designs for the different mediums. That is a fantastic idea. I want some! When will they be on sale? I mean, you have to sell them! I hope you have them copyrighted! I had to laugh at the part where you looked like you were falling asleep while swatching. I have literally done that while coloring. In my case, it is a form of narcolepsy, not boredom. Thank goodness I found one of those electric erasers to get rid of the little lines running down the page. 😊 I love your work!
😆😆 thank you 💜 I would imagine narcolepsy would create a few accidents while creating. I am considering making them available as a downloadable option.
This is an amazing idea and I definitely want to try it! I also think it would be a really excellent product if you had sheets printed with each design on the proper paper as ready-to-use beautiful swatch cards!! PS: I echo other commenters in saying the youtube algorithm must be broken because this content should be recommended to every artist on youtube.
I love your adorable swatches! Just fyi, alcohol markers need to be stored flat on their sides. Alcohol inks need Yupo or other synthetic papers. Blending solution and isopropyl alcohol is helpful with them too. Happy creating!
I love this idea! I’m going to attempt to gather all my art supplies together over the weekend and do some of my own. I have an old empty ring binder planner, I think i might add the pages to. Thanks! If i share my efforts in a video/SM post, I’ll definitely tag you. The best thing about it, is that it’ll force me into seeing just how many supplies I’ve accumulated 😂
With alcohol inks you would be better using Yupo paper (I believe you had some of that in your art haul) and using alcohol blending solution rather than water. You can get some awesome effects with alcohol inks, I've found them better for creating backgrounds than for colouring images. Tim Holtz has videos on using them which you may find helpful.
If you haven't redone the Inktense watercolor pencil swatches: With watercolor, it's recommended to make blends and strokes from the lightest to deepest part. That way you don't deepen the lighter colors too much. Also, it looked like you were bearing down a lot on one half and just letting the color flow to the other half. No judgement of course, because everyone can use their supplies the way they like, but you can get a similar gradient of color like normal pencils, lightly coloring the page, to the deepening it the further you go. (And then add water, from the lightest portion of the pencil to the deepest.) I hope that makes some semblance of sense. The swatches look absolutely amazing though, and it makes me want to get out all of my art supplies and do something similar! Though I do shudder at the idea of doing it with my markers, which is my biggest collection in the way of art supplies.
Wow Di! What an awesome way to swatch! I really love your storage box too and how you made it look 2D! Sooo flipping cool! Keep inspiring as a beginner YTer myself I'm looking up too you alot =)
This is an awesome idea I have a 520 Burtfuner Student set that I haven't swatched yet! I'm really not looking forward to swatching so many coloured pencils, I have only owned them since December 2022
I found using an afmat electric sharpener works amazing on my prismacolor pencils. It sharpens them different than the average sharpener and they don’t break sharpening them or using them after. It’s a six hole sharpener so it will sharpen 3 sizes of round or hex pencils and 3 triangle holes it’s fantastic!!!!!!
Your video is again excellent ! I voted on the "love doing it and hate watching it" swatches survey but now i wanna watch you do it while i redo all my swatches xD You are inspirationnal like that. Thank you Di ! Also, alcohol marker are best stored flat, indeed. ^^ Your box-book is also a very good idea ! Especially when we know that any sketchbook can't be used to store all the type of medium we can swatch. Always creative ! Can't wait to see your next video. It seems to me that you are on a rise as the quality of your content is truely amazing. Keep going. See ya next time =D
I need to do this but apart from all the markers and paints I have heaps of fineliners and gel and ballpoint pens. I guess the images to swatch on would have to be timier
This is such a cool idea! I hate swatching and I always end up testing colors as I go for each picture then I get to the next and I forget what they are and gotta test it all over again lol But this way it's actually fun and I'll definitely try it! I also love they way you "stained" your ruler to make the "pages" on the book, it's so creative!
Okay, I am RUNNING to Michael's to get a wooden book because I LOVE this so much! I've always wanted to swatch my supplies but never got around to doing it this gave me the kick that I needed to actually do it! PS (Found you from Sarah's video and I love your videos! keep up the great and entertaining work!)
Love the idea i have not enough to swatch atm but maybe when I will have more i will do that . Just for paints and few posca ,s it isn't worth it lol but the idea of the book box i will take that bc i love books and love boxes so maybe i can find one and make 1 iny own way .

Thank you 🥰 I was thinking about that when I was making them. Nice to know it's not only a good idea in my head 😉😄
I would purchase them as well.
I would 100% pay for those!
i would also buy them!
Swatch’N’See would a been a cute book title. But honestly the title doesn’t matter when you’re that talented!! Hope you feel better soon!
6:04 Alcohol markers should be stored flat, especiallly if they are dual-tipped, because if they are stored on an angle, the ink will all go to the nib on the bottom. Hope this helps!
Sketches and Scrubs is awesome! So is Aussie Crafter!
I store my ohuhus flat
Yeah, I store almost all of my markers, paint pens and ink pens flat. Especially the double ended
You should definitely turn your swatch drawing into stamps or swatch books!
Those swatch cards are so unbelievably cute and creative! What a great idea instead of just switching squares endlessly. I would be forever grateful if you shared those swatch card as files and would absolutely use them!
That's a good idea. Having them as a download would be quite helpful.
Are you thinking of selling copies of your swatch pages? They're so cute!!!
In definitely thinking about it. ☺️
I would love to eventually do something like this. I've had the idea to make a swatch book (since I can never find my swatches when I want them) and this is such an aesthetically pleasing approach.

That is so sweet. It's the coolest part of my house,,, the rest is rather dull 😆
Love, love, love your swatches!
So glad i found your channel. This is awesome. Love it! Love Sketches too, she is amazing! Thank you for sharing!! ❤️🌹✝️🌹❤️
Great video I like the swatch "Book" it's always fun watching your videos!!!
Flat. Anything with a dual tip for sure but I also just store any marker flat.
How fun! I enjoy swatching and these are so creative~next level!!❤🎨
This is really a great idea. You should really create this as a product, I would buy them from you if it were available.
I'm looking into it 😉
Golden mediums mixed with cheap paints work wonders! GACs and Soft gel gloss are wonderful! They don’t change the color of your paint nearly as much because they’re clear!

It's a nice idea. I did mine as I bought them - all into an A5 block. You should make your sketches available. Jackie
This is awesome. If you aren't selling the PDFs you are missing a revenue stream! Of course, the idea of swatching them makes me realize I have way too many supplies.
😆 Going through made me realise the same, but also reignited interest in stuff I haven't used in awhile.
Love the look of this. We’ll done.❤❤❤
This is definitely a good idea that I'm going have to attempt. At some point. When I find some time, LOL.
I store all my alcohol markers flat
💙
Wonderful swatching tutorial
You could call it "My Swatch Book: because PPPPPP"
Love your work as always, it's always so refeshing hearing another Australian accent on RUclips!
I love it!! You should make downloadable printables of your swatch pages....asking for a friend.
I store my alcohol markers flat. Also, this is a great idea. I'm definitely going to redo my swatches. It just looks nicer, in my opinion.
This is such a fun, cute and creative idea! I love the idea of making the swatches the shape of the item.
Fantastic swatch box book!
Wow! That’s so cute! Love the idea!! Thank you for sharing. 👍
I love this creative way to swatch all your art supplies
What a great idea! Well done 😊
Whoohoo! I loved watching you do these swatches... you've got so much patience to do all of these... and they look awesome too!
you've just made my Monday 😁
Thanks 😊 This took place over nearly 2 weeks, swatching after work. I'm very over it 🤣
Me too, this was fun! I probably would’ve watched a 30-40 minute video of it, lol
@@aussiecrafter this is why I don't swatch 🤣🤣🤣

There are also some cute stamps out there for swatching! I know Waffle Flower has some great ones
Great idea. 😊 X

That was so satisfying to watch! I love the wooden box with it!
