I watched an interview with the Israeli president a few years ago. What was clear to me was his absolute disdain for the Palestinian people. It was clear that he does not see them as humans.

Nelson Mandela and ANC freedom fighters were called “terrorist” during the apartheid South African regime by the U.S, Israel, and Britain. The same playbook is being used against Palestinian people.
The ANC did not target women and children to kidnap and cut their heads off...but they fought using whatever means available to them to free all south Africans.
ANC engaged in terrorist bombing at the start, but they eventually stopped doing it because it didn't produce any results.

I get so angry at times the line between anti-zionism and anti-semitism starts to get tangled in my own mind.
But I always go back to this. 25 years ago when I started to really question what the hell was really going on in Isreal Palestine I found my first answers coming from Israeli and Jewish writers, journalist, scholars and historians. They are the ones that pointed me to Arab, Palestinian and Western scholars, journalists and historians like Edward Said, Robert Fisk etc.
With few exceptions (thank god for MR and others like you) western discourse on the subject is always the right wing Israeli government propaganda with a good sprinkling of religious mythology as history.

The pro-Israeli state side refuses to acknowledge the suffering or even humanity of the Palestinians under any circumstances. They regularly dehumanize the Palestinians and constantly call for increasing their suffering.
Humanitarians have repeatedly acknowledged the suffering of innocents on both sides and called for an end to all of it. Humanitarians just focus more on Palestinian suffering because their suffering is greater and Israel has the power to end the conflict. Israel is the oppressor and holds all the cards.
That woman’s family is infamous on the level of rockerfella and Rothschild. And she allegedly did some evil, corrupt things whilst in government. Think one of them was covering up child abuse.

That's what's so infuriating to me, the root of all of this is that both sides believe in slightly different interpretations of a 2000 year old fairytale and when the "authors" of said fairytale stopped writing it.

Emma I totally understand your emotion. I have cried a few times listening to otherwise politically "good" people saying the most inhumane things without thought to the history of the Palestinians. I have printed off a series of maps about the history of land lost by the Palestinian people and how restricted and landlocked while under complete control of the Israeli state they are now. I carry these three sheets in my purse!

Does anyone know why "iron dome" didn't function during the initial attack? That would be self-defense. Bombing Gazans, shutting off their water, fuel, and food: that's a massacre during a siege.
One theory is that the sheer amount of rockets overwhelmed the system. There's a good video by Warographics that breaks down how Hamas exploited many weak points in the Israeli Defenses

Basically he's criticising both sides and urging restraint. Unlike US and UK politicians, he is acknowledging historical context much more fairly, rather than encouraging selective memory / willful amnesia.
Obviously the southern irish have a vaguely similar-ish history based on their struggles with Westminster in the past century.

I'm Scottish and as an independence supporter, myself and others are aware what the British state can pull of if the status quo is threatened, Corbyn was cast as a communist spy, antisemite and terrorist sympathiser(he was one of the facilitatators of peace in N.Ireland). The attacks were daily and pretty universal in the media and from his fellow Labour party MP's, it is amazing to watch the UK media and political machine work in tandem, been politically on the end of it for most of my lifetime . they have been attempting this with Palestine for years too.

I do know that the Irish people are pretty overwhelmingly on the side of Palestinians and the Israeli Embassy in Dublin (a short walk from where I live) was vandalised over the weekend during a protest outside. There was another larger more organised protest today.

He’s very important for all of us, not just the young people. I’m 63 and I love him. I’ve been watching his thread about Palestine for the last three months and it is thoughtful and intelligent. He had interviewed many experts about what is happening in Palestine and I feel very well informed, partly because of this.
To the woman’s question at 8:00. No I am not saying that Israel has no right to defend themselves, I am saying Israel has no right to commit war crimes.
