Guys, what I've learned with PES is to buy the PC version, and get yourself a USB controller. Why you ask? Mods. Instead of having "Man Blue" or other non licensed games, there will always be a big modding community for PES, which provides you with EVERY single licensed team that is on PES, and some even add new leagues, and second divisions, as well as updated rosters and faces, and many other things.
FIFA is currently the pinnacle of football games. It is right for him to compare PES with it as most people play FIFA and want to know how it compares to a game that they know and love. It is the same as when comparing a random fantasy book with game of thrones. People often compare things to the more popular pieces of it's genre as more people can relate to it, therefore they get a better understanding of what it is like.
i've been going back and forth between fifa and winning eleven since around 1995. started with fifa again in 2012. i'll probably go with fifa again this year. but of course I want we/pes to succeed as well. rivalry in the gaming industry is a good thing.
Although I think the Pes 14 demo is better than the Fifa 14 demo, I still think Fifa would be a better game this year especially on the next gen. Pes 14 isn't coming for next gen, so this year they have more time than EA for the next game. Pes 14 pushed the consoles to the limits and is catching up to Fifa. I loved a lot of things like: gameplay, AI movements and especially the way the players run, and dribble. What I hated was that some players like Rooney didn't have real faces and glitches.
PES 2014 does has some issues because KONAMI had to stuff FOX engine, a next gen engine, into current gen consoles. Even so the game opens a whole new world of football game, much beyond FIFA's vision.

I'll answer, I think PES is simulation due to it's tighter, and some what more difficult to remember control scheme, and it's emphasis on build up play. You don't just rip a shot on net and get a goal, like in FIFA. In PES the Keepers are more of a headache, and it seems like you genuinely fool them to get a goal.
I Think both have there short comings with FIFA its the longevity, you can only play so many games and score so many goals before it gets boring. With PES it's the new passing system implemented with Tru-ball Tech.
Ive played both FIFA and PES, and in my opinion PES is by far the better game with its Simulation feel, but I also like the Excitement that comes with FIFA. So , in my mind. If you love the Beautiful Game then PES is for you. If you just want the excitement of scoring goals get FIFA.
This is the best football game I have played in the last few years, mostly because of the new engine. It's so smooth and just feels great, no more robotic movements. Just passing the ball around is fun and feels realistic.
My only complaint to konami this year is the lack of the player id Feature from last year game.Fox engine is great, but doesn't provide us the player id.How come someone like messi is playing so bad and looks like his own shadow on the pitch??? The player id has been "killed" .

pes 14 is dominant in graphics and gameplay. it's more of a simulator, a game that takes a longer time to master, not one that is easy to learn and master! Why do you think it has the fannase it has? because they want a soccer game that is deep. They aren't bothered by the game interface or lack of licenses, which is what is keeping the pes games to score higher than fifa.
You think wrong, I buy every FIFA and PES that come out, and since 09 I always end up re-selling my PES. Yes, anybody can pick up & play FIFA, because of it's perfect controls and intuitive gameplay, but not everybody can win and it certainly doesn't take days to master it, it does require tactics and knowledge of each player, PES does take a matter of days to get used to it's imperfections and lousy AI, not even the MP is good. PES is not hard, it requires no tactics, it's just casual.
And it makes sense to compare it to FIFA, PES has trying to emulate some aspects of the FIFA franchise for some years now... so its an understandable comparison. Yes, but the overall gameplay took two steps back. PES 2014 is equally bad to 2012 in terms of gameplay. I had a few of "game knows better" passes in every match which completely stops my attack creation. The most annoying thing that breaks gameplay completely is that lag between pressing the button and move performing in game, everything seems slow and slugish. I gave it 3 hours and I was largely dissapointed with gameplay. I had big expectations, but I'm going to play PES 2013 one more year.

FIFA and the new PES games are zero fun which defeats the purpose of them as GAMES. PES5/6 with updated patches and graphics however...that's another story. Best football games ever and will probably never be surpassed.
i played PES5 and i agree it was a great game, but you have to admitt konami did turn to an arcade gameplay style since PES2009, i was a fan of PES untill the PES9 then turned to Fifa. And i've been playing football in a competitive level for sometime now so to me, Fifa is closer to it than me, but that's just me
I have been a PES fan because of he action in the field, but 2013 pissed me off, how can you remove league play. I heard this year the stadiums were no as much and the create a stadium is missing. This year you get additional leagues from South America but I am doubting about buying Pes 2014 because what made the game fun is missing. I wish this games would stick in referees that know the offside rule better, and going up in difficulty was not just making players in the opposing team foul you more often with no calls from the ref.

The gameplay is amazing, and it is a incredible simulation of football, which makes you work for every goal, and makes it ever rewarding with its in depth system where everything moment and decision can impact the game. I've spent over 5 days with the retail version now, and it is a masterpiece. I wont compare it to Fifa as Fifa is an arcade game (despite delusional fan boys who claims that it's simulation), and it should not be compared to pes, who gets football.

The effort konami have put in contrast to fifa is a huge difference and having played both games pes has more improvements and tweaks, fifa looks spot on with presentation but I don't buy a game based on presentation but it's core game and when your jumping with Bruno alves to win headers you feel like a beast, from architecting a beautiful through pass to saving tackle this game, this is a step up from previous pes

You know it, I know it. Fifa is an arcade game apart from fifa08 09 and maybe up till 10. 12 was atrocious. It was so broken I couldnt believe they even released it. Fifa 13 was better, but its all arcade fun. PES has been coming back since 2011. Good foundations and depth, but brought down by its outdated engine. Same with 12 and 13. This years, they unleased a true football simulation, and anyone who is so stuck up with fifa to not see that, youre missing out big time.
I don't think u have ever played pes in your life. In fifa literally anyone can pick it up and play it and master it in a matter of days. Fifa is a fast paced arcade game where if u have Walcott u front u can run past the defence. It requires no tactics just a fast team and OP formation players like Walcott are much more valuable than pirlo or xavi due to the fact they have no pace.fifa is a game where u can score 4 goals in the first half due 2 counter attacks.
Use to love PES but they've made so many fuck ups in recent years that even positive steps in recent years, they're still lagging miles behind FIFA series.
I have played PES since the ISS pro days and have always been a huge fan and hated FIFA.however from what I have seen and played it is a 6/10, the game is lacking so much and feels half complete. The AI is terrible, the graphics are worse, the players no longer look life like and are stiff and rigid, they've brought back the floating ball. I could go on and on. Don't be mad cos gamespot gave it an honest review. It deserves no more than 6/10.
Well i used to be a huge PES fan till 2012 ... Fifa nailed the gameplay in Fifa 13 , and now i was hoping to see a better PES , well ... i played both games demos and what i see is a huge improvement in the graphics of PES + a huge disappointment in the gameplay ... while in fifa 14 .. the same graphics and menus + an amazing updates on the Gameplay ... so for now we have to admit that fifa is the best !

in fifa there is no momentum build up u score all ur goals from couter attacks or corners and as soon as someone scores u can score 3 mins after. fifa tactics hav no depth and make no difference e.g: man marking. the only tactics used are ultra defensive and ultra attack if u class that as good tactics despite any depth then ur mistaken. and judging by all ur comments i doubt u hav played pes for more than an hour on semi pro difficulty.
Can people lpease stop comparing ML to FUT. They are two totally different game modes. ML mirrors a managers career (more so now with the ability to move clubs and manage National squads.) While FUT is a freaking Trading card game all based on luck.
Ea even know fifa is an easy game that's why they don't put tutorials in the game instead they fill training with a bunch of pointless mini games that do nothing and also an open arena where u are able to do the hardest skills with a wiggle of the analog stick. U can also bamboozled any defender no matter how good with a basic feint on any difficulty and u call fifa hard.

have you seen Man City Vs. Liverpool? If yes then you've seen Man Blue vs Mersyside Red. The players are still there, the teams are whats unlicensed.

I have, I can score willy nilly on the PES demo but it's harder to score in FIFA's.

They need to sort out the responsiveness of the players and the cursor changing, it is way too slow.

It requires no tactics just a fast team and OP formation players like Walcott are much more valuable than pirlo or xavi due to the fact they have no pace.fifa is a game where u can score 4 goals in the first half due 2 counter attacks.
Fifa is not arcade. Play the FIFA 14 demo and you'll see why its very realistic. Can't talk about PES as i havent played it in years.
Use to love PES but they've made so many fuck ups in recent years that even positive steps in recent years, they're still lagging miles behind FIFA series.

I've always hated that robotic like movements and high input latency of FIFA. For PES to step toward that direction is little bit disappointing.

I have played PES since the ISS pro days and have always been a huge fan and hated FIFA.however from what I have seen and played it is a 6/10, the game is lacking so much and feels half complete. The AI is terrible, the graphics are worse, the players no longer look life like and are stiff and rigid, they've brought back the floating ball. I could go on and on.
Don't be mad cos gamespot gave it an honest review. It deserves no more than 6/10.

pes feels like real football this year. the animations and gameplay are brilliant this year. that's all that matters.

Well i used to be a huge PES fan till 2012 ... Fifa nailed the gameplay in Fifa 13 , and now i was hoping to see a better PES , well ... i played both games demos and what i see is a huge improvement in the graphics of PES + a huge disappointment in the gameplay ... while in fifa 14 .. the same graphics and menus + an amazing updates on the Gameplay ... so for now we have to admit that fifa is the best !
That's why fifa is number one Fifa and pro switched places. Pes was a arcade game that was easy to play and great fun, in short It was a GAME. Nobody cares about realism if we did we would go outside and play football. As a football simulator pes maybe better than fifa but as a game Fifa is far great than pes.

in fifa there is no momentum build up u score all ur goals from couter attacks or corners and as soon as someone scores u can score 3 mins after. fifa tactics hav no depth and make no difference e.g: man marking.
the only tactics used are ultra defensive and ultra attack if u class that as good tactics despite any depth then ur mistaken. and judging by all ur comments i doubt u hav played pes for more than an hour on semi pro difficulty.
actually FIFA 14 is better then FIFA 13, I've actually played both and keep coming back to FIFA 14. Don't have PES 2014 yet, but PES 2013 was great.
Uhm...FIFA is for the casual players...PES takes time to learn. I'm a FIFA player myself so I know what I'm talking about.
Can people lpease stop comparing ML to FUT. They are two totally different game modes.
ML mirrors a managers career (more so now with the ability to move clubs and manage National squads.) While FUT is a freaking Trading card game all based on luck.
You also get it free on consoles.

Ea even know fifa is an easy game that's why they don't put tutorials in the game instead they fill training with a bunch of pointless mini games that do nothing and also an open arena where u are able to do the hardest skills with a wiggle of the analog stick. U can also bamboozled any defender no matter how good with a basic feint on any difficulty and u call fifa hard.
U CARE WHEN IT COMES OUT SINCE UR THE ONE THAT SAID UR GUNNA GET IT ON THE DAY IT WASENT COMING OUT. wat point hav u been correct on. u go and tell any fifa player that fifa is a realistic paced (slow) game with in depth tactics and the person will think u mean pes. fifa is so easy anybody with no disabilities over the age of 7 can play it. all u av to understand about the game is that pace is the key to winning. if it wasent u would hav player like iniesta rated higher than walcott.
