In the latest 'Sevens: Uncovered' series, we take a look at how some of the teams are having to plot their way across the whitewash with defences fitter and meaner than ever.
Great lesson by Paul Treu! I see too much 'orthodox' play these days from teams that are over-coached, restricted in what they are allowed to do, and running too many complicated set moves that miss the easier options.
Youre so cool! I dont suppose Ive watch something like this before. So nice to seek out somebody with some original thoughts on this subject. realy thank you for starting this up. this youtube video is one thing that is needed on the net, someone with just a little originality. helpful job for bringing one thing new to the youtube!
placing the ball near to the posts gives you an easier conversion. 5 points for a try (touch down) 2 points for a conversion kick. The place where you kick the ball from is determined by taking a direct line from where the ball was touched down. You can move as far down the field as you like to make the angle easier, but then your kick is further. So try scorers will try to place closer to the posts so that the kick is right in front of the post, making it easier to get the extra 2 points.
So I don't know all the rules to rugby, one thing that I haven't been able to learn is: do you score more points depending on where you touch down the ball? It seems like even when it is inevitable they will score they still block you from reaching the center.
The reason that players try to score in the middle of the field under the posts is that after a try the scoring team may attempt to kick the ball through the posts, a set distance directly away from the spot where the try was scored. It's easier to kick through the posts the closer the try was scored to the posts.
why I love watching and playing touch rugby (FIT), some great creativity there that runs over to union and league.

Nope you always get same scores... no matter where you touch down the ball
