    Absolute belter of a video, that means all those kilt makers are going to have to change their advice! Great to see those who have been 'through it' allowed to continue their service!

    I'm an American who goes to Scottish festivals here in the US quite a bit. You wouldn't believe how many people here will buy a kilt and wear it without bothering to learn _how._ I've even seen guys wearing them backwards.

    An American lady tourist was visiting Edinburgh when she spied a kilted piper busking on Princes Street. She'd always been intrigued by the age-old question so she approached the piper.
    'Excuse me, sir, I've always wanted to know what a Scotsman wears under his kilt.'
    ''Well, madam, put your hand under and find out.'
    She does so and puts her hand on his soft and sloppy wedding equipment then screams, 'Oh, that's gruesome.'
    Jock replies, 'Aye, madam. Put your hand in there again. It's grew some more.'

    The only people who play in pipe bands who wear their sporrans sideways are drummers mainly because the sporran would get in the way, the reason I know this is because I am in a pipe band as a piper. Thought the video was really funny.

    In the Argylls in the 1950s the kilt did not have straps to hold it up. It had two pins.

    • @damionkeeling3103
      @damionkeeling3103 8 месяцев назад +3

      I never realised kilts were held up with suspenders. But jabbing them onto the body with pins is just mental.

    • @Stanly-Stud
      @Stanly-Stud 7 месяцев назад

      I joined in Stirling but avoided the Argylls because I just couldn't see myself in a kilt..😅
      I joined the RA instead.
      I will say something though I saw the Argylls at Redford Bks one time on parade & they were very smart.
      Think I'd rather wear Trews like some Regiments did,
      Royal Scots- Royal Highland Fusiliers -KOSB
      I probably haven't got the legs for a kilt anyway 😂

      2. Gymnastics Display.

    Hope I'm not offending anyone, but I just ordered a Black Watch tartan. I am of Scottish descent and was in the American army for 29 years. It is for a Robert Burns formal dinner. Am I good? My ancestry goes back to the likes of Malcom III and some MacKay, MacAlpin's, Davidsons, Campbell's, and a few others.

    • @mac2626
      @mac2626 9 месяцев назад +2

      Grant tartan was used by the Black Watch Regiment, but the Campbell, Fraser, and Munro Clans were all part of the first Black Watch Regiment. So i think you’re well entitled to wear the tartan my friend. 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇸
