You are so RIGHT ON! about living in the moment! Time is something that can't be added to or replaced. I have a quote on my desk from Lao Tzu "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present." What we really have is our NOW. The few seconds ago are history and the future becomes our present. I am enjoying your videos and thank you for them.

I am a biopsychology major, so I am always interested in the mechanistic perspective of behavior and mindfulness. I use tea as a strategy for slow living. I set aside time each day to enjoy a cup of tea- taking the time to brew the tea and then just sit, think, observe until I have finished my cup. Just a way to stop and be in the moment. Thank you for the thoughtful and honest discussion!

Tea has helped me learn slow living as well. I love having my tea each morning. I first learned about slow living by having tea with my sister who owns a Chinese tea set. It was so interesting and lovely. The Chinese tea has you smell the tea, feel the warmth of the tea, and then drink it. Taking in each moment and savoring every element of the tea.

I really like and appreciate you opening up and being honest about not being perfect. A lot of minimalist youtubers seem like they’re always perfect w everything- spending money, eating, sleeping 8 hrs a day and waking up at 5am, never regretting any decluttering, somehow having way more hours in the day etc. I know it was just mindlessly picking up your phone but I appreciate it

I love watching the sun rise. Sunrises are much more meaningful than sunsets. I never had anyone to watch them with me. I still enjoy them alone. I just wish I had a view like you do. My life would be so much better because I could enjoy something so meaningful, something which never fails to make me happy, each morning, just by looking out of the window.

I have found it really difficult to slow down and be more mindful, but recently I've found when I have a coffee break at work, I'm thinking about the smell of the coffee, that I like the sound the machine makes, the froth on the milk etc. I've also started doing yoga, and at first I found it really slow and frustrating, but now I'm enjoying the movements, the affect it's having on my body, etc. Just little steps, but all in the right direction!

It’s hard to slow to the moment, isn’t it. I fight with the same thing. My husband is go, go, go. He has to have something to do all the time and when he is not busy on a project, he has the TV on. Since he has retired, he has taken over the cooking and cleaning and is the primary babysitter on days we watch our grandsons. I was busy too, but since I have been retired, I have learned to slow down. I relax after eating breakfast and don’t rush right into the first task of then day. My husband is off to the hardware store, to Walgreens, etc. I have also learned to relax in the evening. I watch videos of things that interest me instead of mindlessly watch some TV show, I now take time to enjoy my grandchildren and enjoy my day. I do feel like I am useful that I was, but I fight that concern.

You are not fake ❤️ Being present is a practice and sometimes we need distraction and slowly get into the slow living. What a Beautiful story that your partner took you back to the moment. That is the key, keep coming back even when the mind start to travel. Great video with a lot of wisdom. Much love from Sweden!

This is so beautiful ... Present living is real living. It’s an ongoing work in process for me as well. Truthfully, RUclips is my biggest distraction but I struggle to delete it because of RUclips influences like you. It helps me to evolve but I need to have rules around it.

My husband and I take time to cook from scratch and enjoy the whole process of meal time, even doing dishes together (the things what we don't put in the dishwasher). We also hike a lot and try to really look around and enjoy nature. Gardening and playing board games are also great ways for us to slow down, connect, and spend time together.

I deleted Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and made the deal with myself that I will redownload Instagram once a week for an hour so I can have my scheduled video calls with my friends on the platform and catch up on some highlights. So far, it's been transformative in how I spend my days, and simply not having the option to scroll is such a weight lifted off of me. Taking the plunge to fully delete the apps was just the level of accountability that I personally needed.

absolutely agree. when you talked about the moment you experienced by talking to your partner and being present i just thought… you experienced that and tell us about it. spending the same 10 mins online looking at random stuff is really not worth it. of the 2000 things you see online in ten minutes you might remember 2 or 3 and maybe even none and it‘s just pointless and meaningless.

Thank you for this video. Very helpful. I was wondering if or how you figure ‘finances’ play into ‘hustle culture’ and doing more and not feeling like a person can slow down. From what I hear from many people is “sure, slow living sounds so nice but I work Mon. - Friday and then on weekends is the only time to do grocery shopping and cleaning the house let alone driving kids to friends or visiting with family ( parents) etc. Working full time and sometimes even having to work a ‘side hustle’ is just so we can afford to pay mortgage, bills, car payments and buy kids school supplies let alone pay for any of their activities…” I do think it’s almost impossible to have even the hope of a slow lifestyle or just to slow down a little here and there without also adopting some version of minimalism. If a person is still wanting all the ‘stuff’ or even to do what ‘everyone’ else is or at least what you think is expected …all of that ‘stuff’ costs money which you get by working at least full time if not more. I hope you get what I’m trying to say. I know your entire channel is about all of it but often when I listen to people talk about slow living they don’t ‘explain’ or emphasize the direct connection at the same time to the pursuit of all the ‘stuff’.

Your videos are really great and helpful but if I could give you my opinion: I think you would have more impact if you avoided constant repetitions of some words ("actually" at every sentence) and avoided ending each sentence like it was a question (with your intonation). I've noticed in the last 3-4 videos I watched so just thought I'd let you know x

May I share an Old Testament Verse with you from Daniel 7:14 "And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a Kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should SERVE Him; his dominion is an Everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom shall not pass away, and His Kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." Also, can I share Isaiah 53:5 " But HE was WOUNDED For our TRANSGRESSIONS, he was BRUISED for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and with His STRIPES we are HEALED."
God the Father loves you so much that He sent Holy Sinless Jesus (His Holy Son) to earth to be born of a virgin. Then, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins. He was in the tomb for 3 days, then Father God raised Holy and Sinless Jesus Christ (Y'shua) to Life! He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus (Y'shua is His Hebrew Name) and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?
