SE-9 have a pink noise generator. Oscilator is used to measure characteristic of room nad speakers. Plug in microphone into mic socket, run pink noise generator, it's amplified by amplifier and speakers, compu-equaliser measure this noise and set flat characteristic on spectrum analyzer with compensation of imperfections loudspeakers and the listening room. And everything in 1983. .
Yep - I have one. Just wish I had a good mic to have it auto-setup. For now, it's just my ears and what sounds right to me. Great pro-level video dude!
Nice looking graphic EQ. I first heard a home EQ at a friends place in 1977, she had the Pioneer SG-9500. I was stunned at the flexibility of that EQ. I bought an ADC Sound Shaper Two (with the VU meters) in 1978 and upgraded to the IC version in 1982. My ADC has twelve sliders per channel, bidirectional dubbing, EQ bypass, EQ record, output and meter controls and a great subsonic filter (18dB/Oct@15Hz). Specs are good, S/N 90dB and THD 0.018%. Not bad for 1982 and still useful today. Never cared for spectrum analyzers. Too much of a Joshua Light Show thing.
for those who do not know how to connect a eq to an amp-standard connnection: - source output(cd,dvd, tuner, tape, etc )--eq input -eq output--amplifier input on auxiliar ussualy , but u can use other input(tape, tuner,cd,etc) -DO NOT USE AMPLIFIER PHONO INPUT! number of eq's inputs may be 1-2-3-4 , deppends on models , ussually there are 3 -source-tape1-tape2, you will select one from front pannel buttons . if u want to record something using eq to modify sound , u have 2 options: - some eq's have EQ REC OUT on back , from here you connect a tape deck or other device you want to use for recording , so we have eq rec out ---tape deck input or audio input on other device -if you dont have eq rec out , just use eq output . -be aware that some models have a rec out button , press it on ,, otherwise. you will have no signal on eq rec out. some amps , have on back panel 4 rca couples ADAPTOR IN-OUT , this is a special case , so , we do this: -amp adaptor out-----eq input -eq output-------amp adaptor input bassicaly all sources connected to that amp(cd ,,dvd, tape, aux, tuner,) go throught eq and then go to amp power stage , so u can use eq on all those sources withou phisically connect them to eq. -a button ADAPTOR IN-OUT must be on front panell , press it on , otherwise this connection will not work - if this button does not exist, rca couples are unite with two C shape metal joints, remove them and connect cables as written here. DO NOT CONFUSE ADAPTOR IN-OUT rca with MAIN IN-PRE OUT . they look same ,, but aren't same thing.
Good afternoon. I have the same one but one of the motors is failing, the spare part no longer exists, could you tell me the characteristics of the same one so I can find an equivalent one?
Yeah, indeed a great equipment. Sad that nobody does such kind of gear in these days... BTW: This one is for sale: www.walkman-archive.com/wa/project/sansui-se-9-silver-best-eq-ever-made-working/

Nicely produced demo; straight forward and to the point. The shaky-cam people should take a lesson from this video.
