This one is interesting. I used to work in a tech incubator for a company in Latin America that had an HQ in NYC. When we were trying to grow the development team in the US, under Obama, our H1-B visa requests were denied often, so much so that the CEO left the country. They went back to Colombia and grew a tech community in Bogota. Many of that staff made their way to the US illegally and eventually got a green card and started a company after Trump left office. Then, they voted for him in 2024. Musk was part of that tech community I am referring to. I am of the belief that no one really knows what they believe in anymore, especially Musk. They are just doing what makes them money. And the words they use cannot be trusted.

Barons had an article recently about immigration and how it was needed because corporations forced to pay higher wages would cause an inflation spiral. Corporate world wages have skyrocketed while the average blue collar worker has seen wages increase a measly 44% in decades. We aren't doing well in the US. Our homelessness has greatly increased due to high housing prices and yet we keep sending more money overseas and supporting those who came here illegally under the Biden -Harris administration. If we can't afford to care for our own citizens, how in the hell are we spending money overseas on endless wars and stupid pork projects. Yes, we are a nation of immigrants who built this country, but at some point, the government will run out of our money. We can't continue borrowing what we don't have. Bring back the higher taxes on the oligarchs and billionaire corporations. The path we are on is unsustainable at the very least and has disastrous implications for our future as Americans and this country.

@@chexmix0101 Because the ones who don't need to be trained aren't going to move to the US and work for the salary being offered to them. 10 years ago it might have been different, not anymore. I am from India and was in the US for 3 years(recently moved back), my salary was on par with the regular Americans in the firm. But we also had Indian who had more industry experience than me in term of years worked, but weren't as proficient and were on almost 60 percent, some even less than half of my salary. But since they were good enough for the grunt work, which the average American would not agree to work on for that salary, the company was happy to keep them and they were happy to be there. You certainly aren't getting our best anymore. An issue for the average American worker in IT industry is that a salary which might not be enough for them to even survive and pay the bills in a place like silicon valley would be an absolute killing to someone working from India on a contractual role. Now given the free market system in the US, i am not sure either the republicans or the dems can combat that, without interfering and imposing restrictions like China.

It's American culture. My daughter recently joined the free STEM club in her school. Over 90% of the STEM club is filled with first-generation Asian Americans whose parents deeply value STEM education. While the typical American family values athletics and arts like music and dancing. This one is interesting. I used to work in a tech incubator for a company in Latin America that had an HQ in NYC. When we were trying to grow the development team in the US, under Obama, our H1-B visa requests were denied often, so much so that the CEO left the country. They went back to Colombia and grew a tech community in Bogota. Many of that staff made their way to the US illegally and eventually got a green card and started a company after Trump left office. Then, they voted for him in 2024. Musk was part of that tech community I am referring to. I am of the belief that no one really knows what they believe in anymore, especially Musk. They are just doing what makes them money. And the words they use cannot be trusted.
It's sort of like people that left some country because of a strong-arm, seek to find a strong-arm that'll stand for them. Creating a hornets' nest having left one.

Barons had an article recently about immigration and how it was needed because corporations forced to pay higher wages would cause an inflation spiral. Corporate world wages have skyrocketed while the average blue collar worker has seen wages increase a measly 44% in decades. We aren't doing well in the US. Our homelessness has greatly increased due to high housing prices and yet we keep sending more money overseas and supporting those who came here illegally under the Biden -Harris administration. If we can't afford to care for our own citizens, how in the hell are we spending money overseas on endless wars and stupid pork projects. Yes, we are a nation of immigrants who built this country, but at some point, the government will run out of our money. We can't continue borrowing what we don't have. Bring back the higher taxes on the oligarchs and billionaire corporations. The path we are on is unsustainable at the very least and has disastrous implications for our future as Americans and this country.

@@chexmix0101 Because the ones who don't need to be trained aren't going to move to the US and work for the salary being offered to them. 10 years ago it might have been different, not anymore. I am from India and was in the US for 3 years(recently moved back), my salary was on par with the regular Americans in the firm. But we also had Indian who had more industry experience than me in term of years worked, but weren't as proficient and were on almost 60 percent, some even less than half of my salary. But since they were good enough for the grunt work, which the average American would not agree to work on for that salary, the company was happy to keep them and they were happy to be there. You certainly aren't getting our best anymore.
An issue for the average American worker in IT industry is that a salary which might not be enough for them to even survive and pay the bills in a place like silicon valley would be an absolute killing to someone working from India on a contractual role. Now given the free market system in the US, i am not sure either the republicans or the dems can combat that, without interfering and imposing restrictions like China.

It's American culture. My daughter recently joined the free STEM club in her school. Over 90% of the STEM club is filled with first-generation Asian Americans whose parents deeply value STEM education. While the typical American family values athletics and arts like music and dancing.
