I have I question, I was talking to brother who doesn't like me due to arrogance in order to reconcile with him. He was just trying to cut my sentences. during the talk I told him that there is no intellect in deen. then he walked away from me to some other brothers because he was scared and then he turned around to me in front of them and repeated what I said " there's no intellect in deen" and then he said "bull crap bro". I left right after that because of the verse in the Quran in Surah 4:140 that when we hear the verses of Allah being denied and mocked at to leave that sitting. was what I did the correct thing? or should I have refuted him?

Yes there are narrations from Jafar as Sadiq rahimaullah. There is a detailed Hadith regarding Hajj from Jafar as Sadiq. I think it's in Bukhari or Muslim.
