I love so many things about this scene including how Eddie's immediate reaction is to be surprised that Tommy is gay while not questioning that Buck isn't straight even for a second 😭
This is one of the sweetest scenes they've ever had together, truly. I love that just as Eddie's leaving he knows that maybe Buck needs a bit more reassurance so he goes back for a hug. Absolutely adorable scene. 🥺 And OF COURSE Eddie was going to be so supportive all along, how sweet. ♥ I love them.
Yeah the hug is the perfect end for this scene. It’s like Eddie looks back and sees his buddy sitting at the table and realises how vulnerable he just made himself and how scared he must have been to come out like that, and his immediate reaction is to give Buck a hug. A perfect piece of writing and so well played by the boys.
I love the parallel where in the previous episode Tommy encouraged Buck to call Eddie and now Eddie is encouraging him to call Tommy in almost exactly the same way.
Because Tommy and Eddie have intentionally been written as super similar to each other, imo. To quote Taylor (Swift not Kelly), “your new girl is my clone”.
Buck's "mhm" ( 0:22) will forever haunt me. He was so vulnerable in that moment and scared yet trusting in Eddie and their relationship. Eddie's whole demeanor and voice changing immediately when he recognizes the vulnerability on Buck... We're so lucky to have Oliver and Ryan. Oliver's acting with this storyline has been absolutely phenomenal and these two surely will make us cry even more this season. I can't believe we really have all this!!! Truly the best timeline!
Yes! You're absolutely right! Oliver's acting in this storyline is phenomenal indeed. It's in the little and subtle things he did. Like, how he smiled when Maddie or Eddie teased him about Tommy. The anxious look in his eyes, and the right amount of shaky voice when coming out to them. His disappointed look when Tommy left him at the restaurant. His brightened eyes when he saw Tommy at Chimney & Maddie's wedding. And so much more! Dang, all of it makes him a hundred times more attractive to me😍.
This is definitely on the list of my favorite Coming Out scenes. You can see Buck is nervous; believing Eddie will 99.99% accept while terrified that there’s a 00.001% he won’t. But Eddie shows his love and acceptance, that it doesn’t change anything, and reassures Buck with a hug while advising him to give Tommy a chance. 9-1-1 really did well here ❤
I just saw an interview of Ryan Guzman where he said that a friend of his came out to him a few years ago. Learning about this made the scene a lot better!
"Is that weird?" asks so much in such a simple way. And bc they're bffs Eddie understands immediately and reassures Buck so well, I'm crying, don't look at me. 😭
He knows now that buck isn’t gay though. He knows very well buck is into women, so him asking about bucks sexuality wouldn’t really make sense. Like, he knows Buck likes women and now found out he also likes men, so he put 2 and 2 together (meaning Buck is bi). He doesn’t know tommy that long, so this catching him a bit off guard makes sense
Will an uttered “mhm” ever have as much impact on me, as the one Oliver delivered? In that simple sound, it carried so much vulnerability and nervousness. It captured perfectly what anyone in Buck’s shoes goes through when sharing this part of themselves to someone who means so much. Taking the leap Buck did, trusting Eddie would catch him on the other side, is so brave and beautiful. We would all be so fortunate to find someone who you can fully share all the facets of yourself and still find they love you, regardless.
LOVE this scene so much. The parallel of Buck looking so relieved and like he can breathe easier after kissing Tommy and then after telling Eddie. I love how we’re getting to really SEE Buck and Eddie being so open and close with each other this season 🥰
This was was so perfect. It was everything it needed to be. It was sweet and comforting and seeing Eddie support him so easily, not that I thought he wouldn't is just perfect. I adore this too so much and I can't wait for more Buck/Tommy and see Buck evolved into being finally free and happy.
01:12 - 01:22 Thank you for highlighting that part. Because of dedicated fans like you I find new and exciting parts everytime I watch clips on RUclips.
It definitely shows that he's hurt, embarrassed, and feels like he lost the shot with his crush because he's unsure of himself. We've all been there in some capacity, so it hits the emotions a bit.
I am LOVING this evolution of Buck's character. There's a calm ease about him now that I'm really liking a lot. He's nervous and unsure of himself at the moment of course because this is all a very new exploration for him but it's almost as though something clicked into place for him and he's happier. The way Buck says that he can't stop thinking about him is so adorable. I'm really liking Buck and Tommy together quite a lot. There's something about Tommy that feels really "safe and reassuring" to me.
But that's exactly what happens. You nailed it perfectly. An uncountable number of things you never even thought about start clicking together and start making sense. this scene is so sweet 🥹💗 Oliver's acting is so on point and nuanced and gentle, I love it so much, you can see how much care he puts into his performance and Buck's story.
But that huge exhale that Buck does at the end takes me back to 1995 when I first came out to one of my friends. You really never realize HOW heavy that weight you’re carrying is until you drop it. When he told Maddie he kept beating around to bush but here with Eddie he didn’t, almost like het was the most comfortable, as far as you can be in these kind of situations. Which just amplifies and validates how much trust and love they have for one another 🥺
Maddie's affirmation gave him the strength to tell Eddie, so both scenes are really important and understandably different. Buck just seems so smitten and giddy whenever he talks about Tommy, and Tommy is so smooth and funny. Even if they aren’t endgame, I would really enjoy them being together for a while.
is it bad that i don’t really want buddie to get together at least not yet. cos their friendship is soo cute and nice. i kinda want buck and tommy to at least be together for season 7 and longer. i also just kinda want buck to finally have a good chance at love after all the shit GFs he’s had and also all the shit he’s gone through throughout his childhood and also adult life. there has to be a reason why hes gone/went through it all. and it needs to finally led to something good
I said the exact same thing, even if they're planning on making buddie endgame I hope it's not too soon and rushed, but I really just like Tommy and Buck a lot and I hope we get to explore their relationship more and seriously
Buck and Tommy are cute and I think Tommy is great for Buck as a guide through this change...for me tho nothing will ever beat the years long connection and bond Buck and Eddie have and the family the built with Chris. A truly beautiful and unique love story.
@@LaNa-xv6rp that is true I hope if they do make buddie happen then it’s not rushed tommy and buck have a mutual break up cuz either tommy or buck realizes that buck has feelings for Eddie and hopefully Eddie realizes he has feelings for buck and break up with his gf
What session and episode is this? I got a new DVR and forgot to set up my shows.. So, Tommy and Buck. So glad they portrayed Eddie as accepting and not judgmental.
@RandomGuy-db8xj there's plenty things that could be signs of romantic feelings between Buck and Eddie. Just like there were plenty of signs that buck was queer. Don't dismiss something just because you yourself choose not to see it, that's not fair.
Master class from Eddie on how to react to this type of conversation, nicely done 👏 Also I find it quite amusing the bit Eddie hangs on to is that Tommy is gay not that Buck was on a date with a guy 😂
This is me after rewatch 50x. I got to think about the "he dumped me" line, how he points out that they weren't together... I mean it was one date, he had one date with Veronica and just called it "didn't go well/hit off." But with Tommy, that one date, he felt as if there was something there -- that they WERE something. For Buck, in those moments - it was as if they were in a full relationship. This ship is inevitably sinking but I'm still staying on it 😭😅
Me after more rewatches (addicted at this point). Buck thought about it before saying it to Eddie. Probably bothered by being just being "one of the boys" with Tommy.
This is so beautiful it makes me cry every time I see it. These two have been through so much yet their love for each other is so strong. I think this is demonstrated when Eddie is suprised that Tommy is gay, but it's not big deal that Buck is bi. As Eddie says, "this doesn't change a thing between us", and then the look of relief on Buck's face - priceless. I can't wait to see this story arc develop. And then, the hug.... OMG.... so beautiful.
Eddie being surprised that Tommy is gay but not that Buck is bi is sending me
so he always had a feeling lol. Eddie knows something
Eddie was surprised but he didnt want Buck to feel anything but accepted so he hid it really well.
It's not a good sign if you think about it. Tommy was spending loads of time hanging out with and talking to Eddie, but it never came up?

you know i don't mind buddie being friends and tommy and buck being endgame
same! buck and tommy have a pretty great connection. and eddie is friends with both of them so it's cool to have him there for support
I wish I had a friend I can talk to like that.
What session and episode is this? I got a new DVR and forgot to set up my shows.. So, Tommy and Buck. So glad they portrayed Eddie as accepting and not judgmental.
@@chasecarter7384 It's 7x05
0:59 Buck looked disappointed after hearing "It doesn't change anything between us." I love the connection between them 😭
why would he be disappointed? any of us would be ecstatic to hear our best friends say that
@@jamesliggins891 cause everyone’s shipping buddie (Buck and Eddie) including me btw
@@jamesliggins891 Buddie shippers will convince themselves of a bunch of lies to justify the ship, nevermind them. 😓
@@Nicole-dd6nn that doesn't mean that he was sad lmao
@RandomGuy-db8xj there's plenty things that could be signs of romantic feelings between Buck and Eddie. Just like there were plenty of signs that buck was queer. Don't dismiss something just because you yourself choose not to see it, that's not fair.
Love it! I wish I had just more friends like this! Shit not even my so call “gay” friends are like this! ❤
Master class from Eddie on how to react to this type of conversation, nicely done 👏
Also I find it quite amusing the bit Eddie hangs on to is that Tommy is gay not that Buck was on a date with a guy 😂
Buck's smile at 0:40 is everything.
It's me or Buck's sweater is the exact same colour as his eyes?
Really? Is the first question about Tommy, not Buck? Did Eddie think Buck was gay all along? Great acting by Oliver.
AHAHA I love that Eddie was only surprised by Tommy being gay. As if he couldn't imagine that, but then Buck being bi? Yeah he believes that.
Besties for life ❤❤
Eddie handles this the way a true friend should ❤❤
Love They chemistry
Buck and Eddie 😍😍😍😍😍
“Hang out with the boys” oh yeah he’s doing really well either way that
I wish I had a guy like Tommy to "hang out" with...
@@RandomGuy-db8xjSame.
I understand all the shippers but it would mean so much to show such a close friendship without any romantic subtext on television.
Eddie's not even suprise that Buck is a bi, he probably knows it from the start. He was suprised with Tommy only
This is so beautiful it makes me cry every time I see it.
This scene is perfect ❤ Still rooting for Buddie
I've watched this like twenty times. Buck and Eddie the friends that you are!!!!!
