Fabulously catchy and memorable reggae roots song with lyrics of truth today. I remember hearing this song some 30 years ago and I still remember it, so glad to have found it uploaded here on RUclips, Thanks For That! 👍🌼
Leroy has been Jamaica's #1 Artist several times! That is BIG. Leroy and Snoop Dog are very similar height. I would like to hear them together do something!
Newton Brown when artist that want to push the truth out in music or our history, esau cuts then off the charts or not allow them to be heard because of giving wisdom to God's chosen ppl. The enemies are ruling us the true israelites 2 esdras 6:7-9
I'd be surprised if he hasn't received a major distinction by now. The Jamaican Musgrave Award amongst others have been meted out for many artistes already. His time will come.
Great song. They dont make reggae like this anymore. This song is based about the 70's - 80's in Jamaica where the political turmoil between the two parties the PNP and JLP was at an all high. Housing schemes were divided. Bloodshed and violence was daily. It was truly a "Ballistic affair ".
winchestarization True-vision , "How did we fall from this level of musicality to what we have now?" I have been asking the same question for some time now also. Can't get a good answer yet except it's a different time. As if modern times means less quality.
@@paulranger5250 well sorry I just get a chance to try to give an answer.listen, back in the days, I use to have to study and practice my instruments for up to 15 hrs a day,our lives depended on our ability to be creators and not imitators,it was important to creat sounds, today you don't have to sh#t to be an artist , musician or musician, put a few loops or copy and paste a loop and you're in the game.... it's the negative side of the new technologies, things are made so easy, that ppl don't realize they're being matrixed and programmed into self distruction!more lUV,Jah bless!✊🏿💯🔥🙏🏿
@@winchestarizationtrue-visi6439 So true. I appreciate the few young people of today who follow the discipline of working to become true muscians, vocals included. They are not appreciated too much by the masses, while too many people's ears have been trained to sway to excrement. If it is done properly, it is labeled as "Old School." I understand that music must change and evolve. I have been through several generations of changing music, from the 1960's to the early 2000s. However, it seems this generation has gone off the tracks because they fail to follow the basic rules that kept the music good for so long. It's partially because the music media value money under the table rather than quality music. So he who has the money to push junk will be heard more. Look at the 2 note garbge beats (as I call them)(Think of "Ping"♪ "Pong"♪ throughout the whole song with no change.) that is coming out of Jamaica these days! As things go, if garbage becomes more popular than quality, then everyone fall in line and bring more of the same garbage to the market because they think it will be more popular. However, there might be some hope from both sides. The public is getting tired of the garbage and some musicians are gravitating to quality again. So I have heard. Hope it's true!
This is by far the greatest musical summation of the political climate that existed in Jamaica and a point in time and should be given much more recognition. Big up leroy ONE DON Smart
..pity this was only his major release...!...if he had recorded more for Island Records..maybe his career would of sky rocket. ! we must question why his career didn't!
Roots reggae gone ballistic with the great brother Leroy launching the musical missiles and detonating the neighborhood……oh how I miss the old days when roots-men were musically bold.
One from the top 20 great reggae choons of all time the great Leroy Smart from a time when reggae music was at its peak and the music really meant something weekends were special so many places and clubs to go to and the true children of Israel had a lot more going for them than they do now what a time that was.

I'm sad that you don't appreciate reggaes musical evolution. There are so many talented artists out there that are creative and carrying a heritage. Have you ever listened to Romain Virgo, Christopher Martin or Chronixx? Jah9, Xana Romeo or Dezarie? Well if not I suggest you do so. Mento, calypso, rythm and blues, ska, rocksteady, reggae, roots, dub, dancehall, digital.. It's all reggae music! It's your choice to dislike modernization, but I tell you. You are missing out on so much good music.
Winsome Hemmings agree!! Bro! The old fellas had some israelite understanding but now the khazars own the music world and make brothers sing evil stuff to do.
I think they intentionally spelt names wrong on reggae to avoid paying royalties and publishing rights. Joe Hookin, Hookim! channel one stylee. Bless up

Leroy sang this tune in Sunsplash 1989 i said haa this tune will last forever, and this is 2024 still a fresh tune ......
Unless you were around when this tune dropped, it's hard to convey just how big this tune was at the time.

I’m born 2002 and I definitely know how big this tune is ‼️nuh fi say 40 ,shout out my grandfather for showing me real music
Leroy Smart and Sugar Minott. Both Unique Artists. Really Underrated Reggae Singers. Time for Leroy to be Inducted In The "Hall of Fame".
Newton Brown when artist that want to push the truth out in music or our history, esau cuts then off the charts or not allow them to be heard because of giving wisdom to God's chosen ppl. The enemies are ruling us the true israelites 2 esdras 6:7-9
Newton Brown, right on brah!
I second that motion Hall of fame
I agree for both of them!
I'd be surprised if he hasn't received a major distinction by now. The Jamaican Musgrave Award amongst others have been meted out for many artistes already. His time will come.
