LOL. Was going to make the same comment. Does anyone want to mention the brain dead deals she (and the board) made with Nikola or Lordstown Motors? Or her claim that they would make 50 billion dollars from Robotaxis in 2030? She is one of the worst performing auto CEO's (based on GM sales and performance) yet you praise her for being intelligent and articulate and engaging? LMFAO.
Mary is JUST NOW finding out that maintaining a fleet of autonomous vehicles cost too much?! Really? After sinking 10 billion in it? I know you Guys like to pick on Elon Musk, But Damn......
trends come and go - sometimes you get the timing right, sometimes not. 64 Mustang, 90s explorer - great timing for what folks wanted. The first chrysler minivans. HUGE. Today? minivans and muscle/sporty cars and station wagons are all ho-hum, poor sales. Gotta see what's next...and be the first to market with that. What DO consumers want? I bet there's a big market for something like a civic/corolla - kia/hyundai did this for a while very well - good cheap cars/transportation. Simplicity maybe? do we need apps/cruise and all that? cool tech, but do people really want it? Ford dropping self parking is an example.
F1 has a $200 million entry fee then you have your cost of running the car with the cost cap. Cadillac will use Ferrari power trains until 2027, so already it's a half-hearted effort.
Paul needs to do his homework; I been to China many times, it is not equal trade with China. Many people in China want a Jeep, but they are priced twice what they go for in the US. So China consumers buy clothing that says Jeep.
Really like super cruise on my equinox ev but I wouldn’t pay for it It just came with the car. Retired, dont do a lot of road trips. It works well but we use it about once every three months
it's a perfect storm - gov't mandates/incentives, 2020, hideous prices (who buy a $115,000 jeep?). Gave up making cars for SUVs, gave up the low end for highly loaded cars...and they wonder what's wrong, why the chinese are coming... Perhaps the car wiz's need to truly do some market research.
Pllleeeaaassseeee get some young people on these panels!!!! Once again these guys are showing their age and have zero idea what they’re talking about in so many areas.
You think Mary Barra is “the most intelligent, articulate ceo of any company going”? Really?? I think you may have blown your credibility with that statement.
i don't think the credit does much...i bought my tesla before it existed. So...if you want an EV you buy an EV. If you don't want EV...will a $7500 bribe/incentive get you to go that way? Not sure it will. It's just giving discounts to folks already buying an EV.
Welcome to the new Auto line After Hours- where we have to listen to Paul’s Mr. I hate Elon woke diatribe that’s completely unhinged from reality. His comment about Tesla hasn’t updated their vehicles is case in point. That dude needs to be permanently retired from this show. It shouldn’t be a high bar to say people like him who can’t recognize reality shouldn’t be on the show
He’s right. Tesla has not updated the Model Y in any significant way since launch. New S/X are selling in really low numbers and are insignificant. Tesla has lost their leadership in sales in many European markets and is close to losing technological leadership. The company would benefit from having a CEO that works more than 10h/week for Tesla.
And they could use a CEO who hasn't alienated 3/4 of potential and past customers. Also, they need someone who believes it should be safe to drive and use other controls in a car at the same time.
@@geraldh.8047 you’re entitled to your own opinion not your own facts. Fact is that teslas get more software updates and new features than all other EVs combined. As if they haven’t been updated is living in your own alternate reality.
@@gmv0553 this isn’t a political channel about first amendment rights; the point is Paul makes comments completely divorced from the facts, and lets his own political bias against Elon distort what could otherwise be a great auto discussion. That’s the whole point.
Great discussion. It sounds like Cadillac getting into F1 could be a bargain, compared to what GM lost with Cruise. They need to be mid-back within a couple years, though, or it will only be an embarrassment. Great that you mentioned what should be obvious about Wrangers and Broncos. They are fashion statements for the vast majority of buyers, with few doing off-roading that couldn't be done with a Corvette or Prius. Regarding Elon, I am one of the thousands of people he has changed from a Tesla prospect to no way in H.
4:10 She's intelligent, articulate and engaging, and she's not afraid to make bad decisions and to fail over and over again.🤔

So much hindsight!
“Will See” I saw a Rocket Get Caught in Mid Air. You Damn Right we will See. 😂
2025 will be the year that Aptera starts production at a limited basis!
I couldn't get past Barra being "so intelligent". You're embarrassing yourself Had to stop watching.

If you need a tax break to sell your product you don’t have product most people don’t want.

OMG … olds gone, Pontiac long gone and Buick ibeing built in China for what must be a decade now…. What kind of strategy is that?
4:05 are you kidding? She has made horrible decisions and has likly killed GM
Definitely a Paid Shill or Delusional.
GM isn't going anywhere! Dan Ives a big supporter of Tesla is high on GM!
@ He’s A Bull. What is he Not High on? Great analysis. My guy. All Bull. 😂

Google and Amazon will win in the driverless taxi endeavour!
Driver less? Maybe. Autonomous? Tesla all the way man! AND YES there IS a difference.
“Blue Cruise & Super Cruise” they couldn’t even come up with their own original names. Tells you it’s Trash
Those names make much more sense than "full self driving" for level two autonomy that isn't even close to self driving.
