The beauty of this show over Star Trek is that it is more character driven than plot driven. You will see character building arcs and changes in their characters because of previous episodes. You will also see them revisit plots. This show may seem episodic but it grows into continuations.
Yeah, a lot of the writers and directors are ST alumni. This episode made me happy in that I could tell myself "Hey, we finally got Star Trek back!" The only other stuff on air was ST Discovery. Hmm ... someone commits mutiny, starts a war with the Klingons, and is considered the bestest Captain. Oh, and she taught Spock everything he knows. Riiiiiiigggght.
Comparing this to Trek is inevitable... This one is obviously inspired by TOS's season 3 episode "For the World is Hollow, and I Have Touched the Sky".
Yeah, that's a very Trek kind of episode, using an alien culture to criticize our own. In fact, there was at least one TOS episode of people in a ship who thought they were on a planet, and were on a collision course.
The plot of this episode is essentially the same as the 1960s TOS episode "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched The Sky."
Yes someone else mentioned that. I need to rewatch that TOS episode..I don't quite remember it.

Excellent! Thanks. I'm really looking forward to the rest of it!
Looking forward to the next!
One of the writers is indeed star trek alumni, Branon Braga, among a whole list of names.
Ah see that totally makes sense!
Oh man, thank you. I was so afraid you had given up watching this
No way...I will do this whole show...I'm determined.

ha.....good point. I basically squeeze every ounce of enjoyment I can get out of anything star trek...even if it's not that great.
On a side note...I think Star Trek: Enterprise is underrated.
@@wacky_uncle totally agree
Let's not forget that that "someone" saves the universe more than once by crying... a lot... 😢

Wow, definitely. I hadn't remembered that one.

Hm I want to look that one up....not sure I remember it but it definitely feels like a familiar idea!

Stating the obvious here but this show feels like it was INTENDED to be compared to "Star Trek TNG". How could you not notice?
Exactly...it's impossible not to do that.
