@@markmerzweiler909 I see the point but still better than Kristofferson. It baffles me that people think he was an effective villain. I watched both versions back to back and I'll take the disembodied voice over the guy who played romantic leads in the 70s. Porter was more threatening than he was.
@@user-ss3wb8he7h Well I definitely don't. There's two Theatrical cuts better, than director's (besides Star Wars), it's this Payback, and Donnie Darko
To add in what was mentioned, it's kind of ironic. The director's cut is darker, so the blue tint would have been more appropriate. Oh, and Bronson's (the Boss) voice on the phone is "Hot Lips" from MASH (The ORIGINAL. The movie, not some bloody series) :-D. That was fucking genius!
"Man, that's just mean!" Best line ever by James Coburn!
Love James Coburn. Such a great actor and loved his part in this movie
R.I.P. James Coburn.
Coburn makes this scene his bitch with his delivery. RIP James.
The original version was better
Actually, this is the original...they changed it because I guess having a female mob boss didn't work.

38 dollars us cash. Marked bills perfectly sequenced
I forgot there was two versions.
I can't tell if that's a woman or Truman Capote on the other end of the line
What an underrated comment. That made me laugh so hard.
It's Sally Kellerman. Capote actually looked better than her
Mad Mel was a real badass in this movie.
Mel is good. Nowhere near as bad arse as Lee Marvin in the original though. That dude was stone faced and without mercy.
Thats just mean!
This took too long to become a meme.😅
This the George Lucas special edition version of Payback?
lol good one
Yes it is, and also completely ruined.
@@LennyNero2019 no its way better, more consistent tone plus i find the jokes funnier in this cut

I hated this alternative version. It was so weird
Whats with the colour?
***** Just seems like such a fundamentally big change.
Not as fundamental as that voice on the phone. That's supposed to be Kristofferson.

case7 Yeah it just seems like it changes the film in a way that wouldnt suit.
Confused? Why a woman’s voice??
This was the original version of the movie. Gibson was the producer, didn't like it, the director was fired, and scenes were reshot.
@@nicholasmuro1742he was not fired he just didn't shot the reshoots also it was paramount and gibson not just gibson
Don't do this..
