    The original version was better

      Actually, this is the original...they changed it because I guess having a female mob boss didn't work.

      @@markmerzweiler909 I see the point but still better than Kristofferson. It baffles me that people think he was an effective villain. I watched both versions back to back and I'll take the disembodied voice over the guy who played romantic leads in the 70s. Porter was more threatening than he was.

    I can't tell if that's a woman or Truman Capote on the other end of the line

      It's Sally Kellerman. Capote actually looked better than her

    Mad Mel was a real badass in this movie.

      Mel is good. Nowhere near as bad arse as Lee Marvin in the original though. That dude was stone faced and without mercy.

      @@user-ss3wb8he7h Well I definitely don't. There's two Theatrical cuts better, than director's (besides Star Wars), it's this Payback, and Donnie Darko

      ***** Just seems like such a fundamentally big change.

    • @SeanCC

      Not as fundamental as that voice on the phone. That's supposed to be Kristofferson.

    • @case7
      @case7 8 лет назад

      To add in what was mentioned, it's kind of ironic. The director's cut is darker, so the blue tint would have been more appropriate. Oh, and Bronson's (the Boss) voice on the phone is "Hot Lips" from MASH (The ORIGINAL. The movie, not some bloody series) :-D. That was fucking genius!

      case7 Yeah it just seems like it changes the film in a way that wouldnt suit.

    • @nicholasmuro1742

      This was the original version of the movie. Gibson was the producer, didn't like it, the director was fired, and scenes were reshot.

      @@nicholasmuro1742he was not fired he just didn't shot the reshoots also it was paramount and gibson not just gibson
