In case anyone was curious, that woman emailed Frank after the show, apologizing, saying it was the first time she had drank since giving birth, (which he found somewhat excusable) the next time he came to Cincinnati she was at the show, and he was super excited and "Glad that the story has a happy ending"

    • @lloydgush
      @lloydgush 7 лет назад +2

      yeah, bullshit.
If it's between intervals, yes, we can forgive no matter what, but in the middle of a calm song?
Either sing the song or shut the fuck up, no one cares how wet you are, go fickle the bean in the bathroom and take a cold shower before ruining a song.

Thats fucked up. Yelling it once, he'd let it pass. Twice? He'll grit his teeth. Three times? He will tell you exactly as it is. That's how it should be! I didn't spend $25 to hear some random girl telling at him. Have some respect people! And thank you Frank for saying what needed to be said. Lots of respect for him.

This is why I respect Frank... While musicians have stopped playing or walked of the stage, most of them do it for trivial reasons. Like Axl because someone was recording a song with his phone or wearing a Slash T-shirt. One of the best moments of a musician getting pissed ever if you ask me. He stood up not just for himself but first and fore most for his loyal fans that came to the show to share these moments with him.

The only other person I've ever seen do it is slug from atmosphere, he gave a guy his money back and told him to fuck off because he was interrupting his show. Complete respect for musicans who stand up for themselves, the fans and their art.

I was there. I must say this whole show had a weird vibe in general. Frank did great as always but the crowd was just...off. I think it's because Frank was gaining a lot of newer fans at the time and there were people there who just didn't quite get the "vibe" Look, I'm not one of these people that gets mad at my favorite artists for getting popular. On the contrary, I love it as I feel great artists like Frank deserve as much success as they can get. It's just a bummer when newer fans come to the shows an don't quite get what's happening. First of all, there weren't very many people dancing for the danceable songs four simple words being my main example. A song literally about going to a punk show and getting in your first mosh pit and when basically me, my buddies, and maybe five other people started moshing and having fun people seemed really mad. Especially this girl that we bumped into by accident who mind you was standing right in the front area where dancing would take place, at least typically. She yelled and even one of the sleeping souls told her to move that people were going to be dancing. There was also loads of boyfriends eyeing us like "better not run into my girl" Look you guys are the ones that came to a punk show and you guys are also the ones choose to stand right in the pit area. It's simple stand out of the way of the dancing if you don't want to take part but don't get mad at others for having a good time. Don't get me wrong my friends and I wouldn't dance for softer songs or ones that weren't appropriate for it but vibrant upbeat songs Iike four simple words why shouldn't people dance if they want? Again, all are welcome and if dancing and stuff isn't your thing no big deal but don't stand right in the dance area and get mad when people dance. That's my only gripe with newcomers is they don't understand principles like this. Between people not wanting to dance, getting mad at us for dancing, grumpy boyfriends, the take your shirt off lady, and so on it made for a weird show. I'm seeing them later this year at Bogarts so I hope there's a slightly better crowd but admittedly I was turned off from both Frank Turner and Cincinnati shows for while after this.

I was at this show. The fill-in Irish guitarist and the bass player spent a lot of the show keeping this bunch of idiots under control. Good on them, for that. I genuinely thought Frank was going to just walk off stage and be done with it. Not that I could have blamed him, of course.
Great show, though. Most of us were too drunk to sing along in tune.

Jeff Hall Cahir and Tarrant seem like good guys. In fact,
all of the Sleeping Souls do. I had a chat with Nigel after a show a few years
back in Manchester (England) and he was an incredibly accommodating guy,
considering he'd just played for two hours and must have been knackered,
clearly looking to see if somebody from their crew was at the merch stand or
not yet he took the time to chat and have pictures with me and my mates. Always
good to see when a band are decent folks and look after one another. Shame the
security do nothing about it, but I suppose it's a public place where people
can air their thoughts and wants, no matter how grotesque they may be.

i real pro is someone who sustains their livelihood by being consistently paid for high level of quality work based on a mixture of scholarship and experience. i don't see how in this regard Frank is not a real pro. you think he's a fake pro or something? he handled it the way an artist SHOULD handle that situation. it's one thing to be heckled, it's one thing to interact with specific audience members, it's another where a human is being objectified directly and has the power to address it.

I love him so much he is such a great artist and performer, definitely didn't need to hear that from a person in the crowd. Glad to hear the crowd respected his outburst.

I don't think she should have shouted those disgusting, vile words at Frank. Frank is a mature, soulful musician that takes his craft very seriously. it's disrespectful. I mean, if Lebron James were shooting a free throw in the final seconds of a tie game, would you scream "miss it"? No, of course not. Well, I suppose you would if you were rooting for the other team, so that might not be the best example. i'll think of a better example, but my main point is that it is DISREPECTFUL!!!! All Frank really wanted to do was to sing the song without interruption. Is that too much to ask? I don't think that it is. I wasn't there though, so I shouldn't really comment. But I've already commented, so just disregard every thing that I've said.

If you don't think people shout at LeBron in every away arena, every time he shoots a free throw, you've never been to an NBA game... I get your point, but it's a poor analogy.

Mark Waters thanks Mark. I’m still trying to think of a better example.

his anger was obviously deserved, but being disrespectful to disrespect kind of beats the purpose. If he'd expressed himself less 'shittily' (Frank's word, not mine) he'd have gained more of my respect, if you get what I mean.

He wasn't trying to earn your respect. He was trying to perform a song, which means sharing emotions with strangers and hoping they like it.
It's disrespectful to shout over someone while they sincerely try to sing a song for/to you. Now if respect is earned by showing respect to others then disrespect is earned in the same way.
If I spent days of my life writing songs, hours prepping and rehearsing and turned up to share my attempt to make something beautiful with a crowd and it was ruined for me and almost everyone in the crowd by some cunt shouting "take your shirt off" then the last thing I would be thinking about is whether my subsequent outburst might rattle the sensibilities of spineless, cretinous, PC RUclipsrs in the future.
Go write a song, form a band, rehearse, get yourself booked for a gig then when someone heckles you be respectful and express your emotions in a calm and placate manner. I'm sure the drunk cunt will be responsive to reason. I'm sure the audience will love watching you spend 40 minutes negotiating with a selfish prick.
Frank did the best thing to do. Tell em to shut the fuck up or fuck the hell off, preferably both, in either order. Then drown out the response with crowd-cheer and move on with the next song.

The woman's behavior and Frank Turner's response are both quite bad. Sure, the anger was completely understandable, but composure is important in handling problems. And what really grinds my gears is the fanatical cheers that the crowd makes for Turner's poorly controlled outburst.
