Great video Chris, finding lots of value working my way through your videos as an aspiring scout myself. I’m doing the accredited course with Football Scouting Worldwide at the moment just to add to the list of things to be doing before approaching teams but glad to hear that building a portfolio is a good place to start as i’m doing this alongside my studies too
This was a great interview. I would love to scout and I definitely believe scouting is underrated plus there’s a lack of scouts in the US where I’m at. I can’t afford the coaching licenses here in the US and you need those for the scouting course.
Very nice interview with experience scout Chris Róbinson who give us really some important informations of the Scouting Basics and structure of scouting from the Football Industry .Thank you @chirsGill keep going with guest s like that .
I'm taking my certs soon and in singapore we are just building up a scouting network. Im thinking of voluntarily attaching myself to schools to scout for young talented players with the right attitude
I see many parents who pay for their kids's access to the academy. What do you think of this? For example, by paying coaches to ensure stronger players are not called to play on trial days or big matches.
Seems dodgy to me but I don't doubt that stuff may happen. All comes down to the ability really so if I 'bought' my kid a way into a trial game, it might gain access initially, but the kid is then just going to get found out and cut loose anyway if they aren't good enough. Don't like the idea of paying coaches/agents though for stuff like that.
This is becoming more common. An academy near me has a former player who is now a Director of the company, a scout & an agent all to produce players for the same major club. Players can be groomed to fit in with what clubs are looking for so they’ll get picked. There are small local authority clubs but it’s unlikely they’ll be “seen” by anyone.
That s true Mr.Robinson ,scouts are underrated in the football industry in the last 10-15 years, but in the last 2-3 years there is an emerging trend of live scouts and talent scouts having a major influence on player transfer decisions. Whats your opinion ?
Not sure what chris thinks but I'd say that could be true for sure. Much more usage of stats and video too allowing for worldwide scouting at a much lower cost
Thanks for watching. Check out Talent ID from The FA, or even PFSA. Nothing official that is required though. Look to network and watch as much football as you can 👍🏼
Nice interview, some of my takeaways.. Some good info about the recruitment in UK Early specialization, and being able to play in multiple positions, so important for players. Qualities of the game, and players. Qualities of a Scout - know everyone, building a network on integraty, taking notes, talking during the match and not watching the game. Future of Scouts- scouts to act professionally before they expect to be made professionals.⚽🎙
Hey Shawn, thanks for watching and leaving a comment 🙌🏼 Glad you enjoyed. Networking definitely a big thing for scouting. All about relationships, and yes, I found the multiple positions point interesting too. 👍🏼
It's almost impossible to get into a girls academy. The clubs only look for the same type of player, they all play exactly the same way despite being in different positions. The interest has gone up massively however the infrastructure and so opportunities are probably 10 years behind. If you're not a fast winger type how takes on players don't waste your time. My daughter plays defence or defensive midfielder, she takes all this lot on and usually always has clean sheets but never gets into an ETC because they don't value her skill set.
@@chrisgill_UK From Sussex, there's very little down here apart from Brighton which as a result is notoriously impossible to break into. I've seen or been a part of the process with Brighton, Charlton, Chelsea and Palace and their youth Academy girls teams are all made up of exactly the same type of player. I was told by someone in the know at Chelsea that the example i gave is the only type of player they're interested in.
