    The IRC states that venting is calculated for the "area of the vented space", not the square footage of the home. Your calculations are not correct as you are using the square footage of the home.

      Devin, At :58 seconds I mention the calculation is done off of Attic Floor Space. While the code certainly says Vented Space, at times we will use verbiage that is actually used in the field so as not to muddy the waters. The sample house I used for math at minute @ just so happens to be a one-story where the attic floor space is the same as the foundation footprint. So, the math was spot on.

      Thanks for the reply Thomas, and for viewing our videos and providing input. As we all endeavor to build better and help others along the way it's important to be as clear as possible in our communication so I appreciate adding clarity as needed.
